I've just made a couple of salads and helped dh with a marinade so he can cook a barbeque tonight. I sometimes think it would be easier just to cook myself.

It is 32C here according to Alexa and she knows more than me which is not difficult.

ann I agree, maybe a different hospital will treat your GD differently (and better).

I've just taken delivery of two 'string' chairs' which I ordered from Aldi on line, having been very taken with the similar chairs DS and partner bought in JL. These look just as sturdy at less than half the price. Drawback is that I have to attach the legs. Detailed instructions are provided. I wish I had GS2 handy because he is very good at following instructions, but he's 150 miles away. I'm leaving the assembly till tonight when I hope it will be cooler. Soon I might be able to sit out and survey my wilderness. This afternoon it's just too hot. I never thought I would say that.

anno It's awfully muggy here. We've had a torrential dowpour and much rumbling of thunder. Even as I type, the grass is shooting almost as high as an elephant's eye. MacSporran was up at the crack of dawn to water the hydrangeas.

I’m sorry it is “all about me” today but GD has had the quinsy drained and is waiting to go up to ward.
Her friend is with her and she will keep me updated.
I really have been worried about her.

Ann it sounds as if your GD is on the mend. Yes they should have drained it on Thursday. Sounds like they know what they are doing at Wythenshawe.

anno I can never pick up bargains like that because I cannot put anything together. I have a loo seat and lid waiting to be fitted (since January) on to the upstairs loo by the first available man but they are in short supply around here.

It will be done soon because I am employing a fellow to spend a day or more here doing zillions of small jobs.

Charley, I fitted my new loo seat and thought it looked OK, but then DS1 came and re-fitted it. If only he lived round the corner!

I have thought of the Panaches throughout yesterday and today. Please may they be in their new home with help at hand to unpack. It has been a long and stressful journey. They deserve to enjoy the results of all their efforts.

Goodness it’s been a busy Kitchen today. Buggerations indeed kitty and nothing you can fix so even more frustrating. Enjoy the BBQ, none here, well I did make some very enjoyable veggie burgers for lunch but they were cooked in the kitchen, seemed easier somehow.

I am enjoying sometbing white and chilled , from NZ and very nice it is.
It keeps raining, huge spots for 30 secomds and then stops.
It it a lovely temp now and I am sittimg outside even when it rains.

It is still 32C in my neck of the woods in London and unsurprisingly no sign of my lodger. The weather is perfect. I believe we may be back to normal next week.

It`s been a scorcher today, there`s a bit of a breeze getting up now, but still very warm.
Daughter 2 went to a wedding today, it was a hot day like this when she married the first time, a day she doesn`t like to be reminded of.
Ann, I hope you manage to get up there to see your granddaughter, maybe put your mind at rest.

dragonfly your granddoggy is gorgeous. We are also looking after our grand dog for the next 12 days. Her 'suitcase' contained a cool gel pad, she's hardly moved from it all day so it must work. I know they bought it on the tinternet.

We have to feed DS and Dil's two cats as well, only in the morning though, their other Granddad does the evening feed.

Yesterday we went to our local Garden Centre for lunch and sat outside, it was too hot to sit in. It was so windy though, we felt like Jock and Miss Ellie on Southfork. Then in the evening there wasn't a breath of wind!

Just popped in for a quick catch up before we set off for the hospital for a routine cystoscopy for dh. Whilst I'm pleased that the hospital facilities are being used 7 days a week, I really feel that an appointment at 8.45 on a Sundag morning should be offered to someone with more energy that us!

gransal, I would arm yourself with as much information as possible and then tell your family. There will be lots of questions and you will probably have to calm them initially. At least that's how it works here!

We have another buggeration looming. Some of you might recall that my bil (79, arthritic, suffering from occasional blackouts!!) was driving to the south of France (towing a caravan!) We had a message yesterday saying that he is in hospital with heat stroke and a chest infection. Somewhere in France. Aaarrrrgghhh!

Oh dear kitty, I was just thinking that your BIL was an accident waiting to happen, and here you are telling us he has taken ill. Does this mean an unscheduled trip to France for you and Mr Lester ?

Sorry to hear about your BiL kitty. We used to drive all the way to the south of France towing a wagon but we would not do it now. French hospitals are very good though.

gransel I don't think MD develops suddenly overnight. My mum's took many years and as I said she can still see.

I am watching flights into Gatwick as my DD and SiL are flying back from Cancun. So soon after her hip replacement I am a little anxious.
I will be sorry to see our granddoggy go back home although his snoring does keep me awake even though he sleeps in the kitchen. He refuses to sit on a cool mat although he has got a cooling jacket which is useful when it gets really hot and we have two fans in the kitchen.
