Sorry to hear about your diagnosis gransel my mum is 98 and has had macular degeneration for years but she can still see.

Spending the day keeping the granddoggy cool. I may have to get out the paddling pool.

Just popped in to say I saw McSporran's double in M&S yesterday. I did a double take and actually looked to see if Soop was with him.

Gransal I have AMD, mine is the wet variety which can be treated to stop it getting worse but I don’t think cures it.
I had injections for 18 months and also laser treatment.
The laser treatment can only be used in certain cases depending where in the eye it is.
I was given a six month break after that as it had improved.
However it did return and because my H was so ill and couldn’t be left I never went back and now only have peripheral vision in my left eye.
My right eye is totally fine.
I met people who had been going to the clinic for four or more years for monthly injections and my lovely Consultant told me many give up eventually.
Each visit can take several hours with travel included and lots of sitting about waiting.
I wish you well, please don’t worry too much until you have all the information.
A nice day here again and thankfully my GD was allowed home last evening with oral ab’S as she would have been in hospital until Monday otherwise.
She was a very happy bunny but they really don’t want to take her tonsils out
She is going to get in touch with the surgeon who did her palate repair for his opinion.

gransal it would be helpful to know if your macular is wet or dry. Mine is dry, I have had it for around 10 years. I am still driving but those days will be over fairly soon. If you want to know anything please feel free to PM me. There is free psychological help available from the Macular Society.

Sorry I have been missing in action, time just got away from me.

Dragonfly I love a Chow ! They remind me of teddy bears. I do feel for him in the heat though , he wouldn't look the same with a summer cut like Sam's lol . That double coat of theirs is a real insulator.

Constant pain is as exhausting as an actual injury I think Carrilion so hope your DH gets his operation soon.

Corner my hay fever has kicked in too and I have just tried a new nasal spray called Beconase Plus which stops the allergens before they cause the eye problems etc. Ive only had it 2 days but its been very effective in stopping me wanting to scratch my itchy eyes to bits. Might be worth a try.

Sorry to hear the news Gransal , lots of good advice available and support here , I think its very wise to take some time to get it straight in your head first.

The little boys finished their Race for Life raising £101 between them . Ive added a picture of them with their medals. I had to chuckle though , Jackson thinks that's cancer cured now !! And Cooper thinks you can get a lot of toys for that ( I don't think he's worked out he's NOT getting the cash!!)

Well, the day beckons, I should make a start- I see a BBQ and much lazing in the shade in my immediate future.

GD was readmitted to hospital in the night.
She is waiting for transfer to Wythenshawe hospital where there is a weekend ENT staff.
She is very down and I am very worried.

Oh Ann I am so sorry. I do hope they can sort her problem out - it is so painful and debilitating. Wythenshawe is a great hospital though.

Congratulations to the little boys N&G you must be very proud of them! ? ?(TBH I think there are some adults who also hope their Race for Life has achieved the same end.) I did it “for” Paw back in 2009 after he recovered from Lymphoma thanks to a new Monoclonal Antibody drug. But perhaps calling it a “race” was a bit flattering, as I walked it. ?
Our little chaps did it in 2017 and Paw and I were proud as punch! When people moan about kids today I take great comfort from knowing there are lots of the other sort (and often not unrelated to a certain Kitchen)

A beautiful sunny day here in the Shire, although the birds are eerily quiet. The really fresh green of Spring is no longer evident, but we have glorious blooms and the buzz and hum of many bees. Butterflies are eyeing up the netting on the brassicas ? hopefully it has been put on securely.

I now have my alzheimers clock so stand a running chance of knowing what day, month and year I am in besides the correct time.

ann In am thinking of you and your daughter and hope things improve. For everyone else with trials and tribulations (I have scrolled through recent posts) I hope today is bearable. Thoughts are also with the Panaches and hoping all goes smoothly today.

I do enjoy all the photographs too but lose track of what and who belongs to whom so to avoid confusion I shall just leave it there.

Maw & N&G, my daughter and I done the race for life about 12 years ago, then 10 years ago we done the "moonwalk" in London with a group of friends and yes we wore sparkly bras. It was a brilliant night, but boy we were exhausted afterwards!!!!

The sun is shining here and my sun lounger is out and I shall be assuming a lounging position very soon.

So pleased with myself that I feel pathetic.
I have done my weekend shopping on my own.
I got the bus there and a taxi back and I am now ,not just glowing, but sweating.
GD on her way by ambulance, sadly it is too awkward for me to get there.
Her mum is on a cruise and her dad is working.
She will be flying on friends, sad to say.

Two of ours did sponsored walks round the school playing field to raise funds for school trips. I feel cancer would have been a better cause.

We are not having a happy time at Lester Towers at the moment. Dd2 had a biopsy on her hand and was told to keep it covered for 2 days. They omitted to give her any more dressings and, as shes a busy mother of 2, you can imagine how long the first dressing lasted. We awoke to an array of photos for 'Dad to have a quick look at' (he is the medical guru apparently despite the fact his speciality was teeth!) he sent her to the pharmacy. I'll keep you updated as we get more photos!

And, DD1's cat appears to have ingested something awful and is going to the vet this pm.

And, DD3'S cat has been missing for 48 hours.

I think I'll go for a lie down!!

We've known each other for well over 45 years. We last met, ten years ago. N&G such a pity that the wishes of the two young fellows cannot be realised!!! They really are very good, doing their bit.

It is very warm here but my house is cool indoors. No doubt Tara has found a comfortable spot under somebody's garage or shed and is slumbering.

I cannot be bothered going out so I will find something in my freezer for tonight. Tara had enough dry food delivered a couple of days ago to last her until nearly Christmas. Bargain Annie did well online.

I do hope the Panaches are resting, probably surrounded by boxes but are comfortable and safe.

Lester Towers is full of buggerations at present. I will let you know if a stray cat comes here.

I do have one more very minor buggeration.
I forgot to buy gin this morning, I did buy tonic.
I have been forced into putting a bottle of white ready to go in the fridge.
My H would not have been happy.
Saturday and Sunday G&T before dinner was a ritual.

I understand that our Galen has had a nasty tumble when her wheelchair tipped over. She has a cut leg. Refuses to go to hospital.

Ann no gin?? Now that is a real buggeration!! I spent one or two evenings this week sampling a selection of miniatures that DiL gave me for Christmas with a box of gin balloons that are big enough to swim in (can’t get on with them at all). I haven’t tried them all, but decided that Portobello is nice, and Sipsmith, but I shall stick to the Bombay Sappire or Plymouth which are my usual go-to’s. I am so sorry to hear you DGD is back in hospital. I do hope they do something for her over the weekend.

Wow! Go the boys, N&G! That’s a good sum to go to an excellent cause. I’m sure Cooper will get the idea ?! I’m sending them a high five!

Kitty you haven’t been walking under the roofer’s ladder have you? If it were me, I would go back to bed and pull the covers over my head. I hope there is better news of both humans and animals soon!?

I have had a quiet day today. DH went off to watch GS play in a football tournament and I have spent most of my day looking for my glasses, which I eventually found in the wardrobe I had pulled a pair of shorts out of! It is seventy eight degrees in the conservatory with the doors open and I am providing a roast dinner for the troops. I am expecting men in white coats to descend on me soon! All our neighbours seem to have decided to cut their grass at the same time. I won’t comment on the noise! Minor discomforts in the big scheme of things.
