Oooooh I’m all excited now......

Urmstongran Tue 28-May-19 09:54:29

Big hugs to you Marydoll

You are scared because you are not in control and that = loss of confidence.

I hope your health improves very soon with the right treatment and encouraging results to give you your confidence back to get your life on track.

ann "believe me, I am a lot of things but being wrong is not one of them". Oh I wish I'd thought of saying that grin

marydoll No matter how much we like to be seen as strong and capable (I think it's in the job description for being a mother), we all need to let out some emotions from time to time. Here is definitely a good place to do just that without scaring our families. Heaven knows you've understandably got a gut body full of fear, anger, worry, anxiety and all the other things that are a knock-on effect of your current health situation. Put them in a bag and leave them in the kitchen flowers TOYA

Annsixty I absolutely know where you are coming from when you say ^
I feel guilty that I am now able to get out and actually enjoy some things when others can't. It is illogical I know, I had many years of being restricted when others were able to do what they wanted but then it took my H's death to let me do these things. Guilt is a strong emotion
I have felt this for the last 18 months particularly on family occasions or other things I know he would have lived, and am only now gradually coming out of this emotion, some of the time. I think of it as a sort of “survivor guilt” and would never have believed it possible.
I am deeply saddened to hear how things are going for some of you others (and conversely, delighted when they may be taking a turn for the better, as for Panache) but am thinking of you all and full of admiration for how peckers are being kept up.
I had a lovely day in London yesterday with Flynn and his Mummy, in the very super chic and trendy area behind Kings Cross, called Coal Drops Yard. We had lunch behind the restored Central St Martins, played in a beautifully designed play ground , had ice creams to die for (Rhubarb and ginger, golden beet(!) and salted caramel and cream) and then Flynn played in the huge courtyard of ground level fountains in front of Central St Martins, getting soaked. We had had the sense to take his top clothes off so that he had something dry to wear after running in and out of the water jets in his t shirt and pants, but of course he wanted to stay even when he started turning a pale shade of blue and had the most massive tantrum with his mummy. Alas, he has worked out how to be a “threenager” very quickly ??

Marydoll I am so sorry to see you are having such a rotten time , will send up a few extra prayers for you

annsixty Tue 28-May-19 08:57:51

I just sent a long and supportive message to Marydoll and my tablet froze and it disappeared.
I had cancer nearly 20 years ago and I know so well the way the future looks so cloudy and unclear.
I was and still am the strong one in my family and am still perceived to be, even dealing with rrecent events.
I send you and all other kitcheners dealing withh adversity all the good wishes I can muster.
Now N&G stop being a wuss.?
Dental treatment these days is a million miles away from when we were all younger.
You will come out wondering why you were so worried, honestly , believe me, I am a lot of things but being wrong is not one of them.
We await your positive report.

cornergran Tue 28-May-19 08:47:43

Good luck with the dentist n&g, you can do it smile.

cornergran Tue 28-May-19 08:46:11

You’re having a tough time marydoll , and have been so determined. I hope sharing how you really feel has helped if only just a bit. Sometimes putting on a brave face gets us through, sometimes not and being honest let’s go of some pressure. We’re all here for you, sending love and a gentle hug.

Today is attack the wardrobe day here, sentimentality will be set aside as will the thought of weight loss. If it doesn’t fit or isn’t suitable for my retired life then out it goes. Or that’s the theory. Think I’ll need luck or maybe courage hmm.

Hope the sun shines on everyone, particularly those on holiday.

TOYA and be good everyone.

NanaandGrampy Tue 28-May-19 08:39:50

Morning all,

Its D Day here ( D standing for doom or dentist depends on your point of view :-) ) , so everything else pales into insignificance .

well only in our house obviously !!

Sorry to hear your life is on hold Marydoll and I can well imagine your family are concerned for you. Its hard to be positive in those circumstances but maybe you can think of this time as a time to recharge? Be kind to yourself .

Oh Kitty , I feel your pain ( except I hope I don't if you see what I mean !)

Lovely picture NannyT , I could sit and watch the sea for hours. Hows the eye faring?

That IS incredibly unfair Anneliese - I know how you feel in that Grampy seems to lose weight effortlessly yet every pound is really hard work for me .
( Pass the crumble :-) ) !!

Urmaston , I admire your tattoo ;-)

Ann , its just nice to hear of you getting out and about however sad the reason is that has allowed you to do so. Please don't feel guilty, just enjoy every day as best you can.

well, I am away to drag my feet in getting ready for the executioner..... If I don't make it back... don't waste the crumble !!

Marydoll Tue 28-May-19 07:58:19

Iv'e not been on GN, let alone Soop's kitchen much lately, which makes it even more difficult to catch up.
I'm struggling just now with my health, the dizzy spells and nausea continue, along with the occasional chest pain.
It is at least six week wait for an angiogram, which is ridiculous. None of my consultants can consider any new treatment until the tests are all done, I feel as if I'm in Limbo and my life has been put on hold!
I'm feeling pretty fed up, which those of you who know me, this is so unlike me. I'm usually quite upbeat in the face of adversity!! ?

It has affected my family life , as we usually do things together and I know my children are really worried, as I keep putting them off when they suggests plans.
They are used to me being in total (control!) charge. It's so difficult to put on a cheery face.
If I were to be honest, I'm quite afraid for the future. This allergic reaction to my medication has opened up a huge can of worms, healthwise and given me an enormous fright.
I'm sorry for being such a misery guts, but I just need to offload, I don't want to worry my family nor friends.
Anyway enough of self- centred old me, this will be my one and only time of moaning!!!!!

Soop, I'm so sorry that you have been so under the weather recently. I have been admiring all the lovely photos and am so envious of you having such lovely views.

I was glad to hear that you will be moving into new accomodation, Panache and hope that you and Mr P will benefit from living there. I know it's hard to leave all your familiar things.

As for Izabella, it was great to see you posting!

Anne, it sounds as if you had a lovely day out with your friend.

Those lucky people on holiday just now, I'm green with envy!! envy Enjoy.
Urmonston, did you not know about my "special" powers? I just knew it was you. I was drawn to the lovely smile and the green top!!!

For all those people, I have not mentioned, please don't be offended, my brain is quite woozy just now and my memory has gone to pot!! confused,
I am thinking of you all and your worries and sorrows. flowers

TOYA!

kittylester Tue 28-May-19 07:07:52

Good morning!!

I've been missing for a bit as there has been a lot going on one way and another. The worst thing was my tooth!!!

We are now in Morecambe where the weather is not brilliant but the Hotel is lovely, as always.

I had a lovely afternoon nap yesterday afternoon while dh watched the promotion playoff on his laptop. Derby lost - which didn't matter to dh but caused dgs to sob uncontrollably- he's only 12 but was watching in a pub full of grown ups so mortified as well.grin

I have caught up and am TOYA.

Need to get ready for breakfast.

Nannytopsy Tue 28-May-19 05:41:13

Gosh it has taken ages to catch up! Panache I hope you can avoid hospital and enjoy your new flat. Soop I do hope you are feeling better and Syn have you sent off your passports yet?
This is the view from breakfast yesterday - lovely weather in Majorca. Sorry to say I am glad there is some rain in UK for my garden!

Anneliese63 Mon 27-May-19 22:34:39

Thank you ann for thinking of me. And love to Panache and Izabella. Glad things are going well.

As my lovely kitchen friends suggested, I am taking one day at a time. But how unfair is it that DH needs to keep his calorie intake up, while I need to lose a pound or ten! Today he made himself an apple, rhubarb and blueberry crumble which he ate with cream. And he’s now found a recipe for fudge which he intends to try tomorrow!

An OT and physio will be visiting to assess DH and the house to see how we can cope as DH’s condition progresses. Quite daunting! But it keeps my spirits up to hear what you lot are up to? I’m so glad soop created this kitchen!

TOYA thanks

aggie Mon 27-May-19 21:40:50

Panache I hope things keep going well and you can both enjoy the new flat !
Annsixty , don't feel guilty at being free to enjoy an afternoon out with your nice friend . I took ages to get used to not having to rush back to let carers away , and I still feel , I have to double check that the doors are locked as I walk out of the House , but I am getting better at it

Lins1066 Mon 27-May-19 21:02:23

It has been a bright, sunny and breezy day with us but rain arrived this evening, good for the garden.
I have been out today for coffee at a local garden centre with my daughter. Later my son picked me up and took me to his house for tea in the garden. I'm still using the crutches to steady me but I was so thrilled to go out and about.
I have an appointment for hydrotherapy tomorrow which
I'm rather nervous about.

Your lunch sounded lovely annsixty
My daughter has gone to the Spice Girls concert in Cardiff. It is a Hen Party!

I'm enjoying the lovely photos from you all, they are a delight.
TOYA

annsixty Mon 27-May-19 20:31:00

Annaliese and Isabella it is so kind of you to be happy for me that I have enjoyed my day when you both have your own trials.
I feel guilty that I am now able to get out and actually enjoy some things when others can't.
It is illogical I know, I had many years of being restricted when others were able to do what they wanted but then it took my H's death to let me do these things.
Guilt is a strong emotion and not easily put to rest.
Forgive my ramblings
I get maudlin at times..

Urmstongran Mon 27-May-19 20:18:31

Doodle ?

I never was good at telling lies!

Doodle Mon 27-May-19 19:58:48

Don’t be ridiculous urmstongran ? that is certainly not you in the blue bikini ........it’s me ?
ann so glad you had a nice day.
panache your new place sounds really nice. Hope your health picks up.

Izabella Mon 27-May-19 19:10:55

doodle ? Not upset at all. Your post was so thoughtful.

No fog today and I feel good. The last of the raised beds is now fully planted and nature has kindly saved my time watering by opening the heavens.

annesixty so pleased you had a wonderful day. We all need them. Panache good to see things are moving for you at long last.

I am being spirited away to warmer climbes tomorrow. Apparently I need the rest and it would be churlish to disagree.

I have been musically uplifted this afternoon listening to the collected works of Chicane. Wonderful. I shall hopefully keep popping in and out of the kitchen and repost on my return. In the meantime there is home made macaroni cheese and garden leaves courtesy of the CH.

Take care everyone

Anneliese63 Mon 27-May-19 18:48:55

ann it was so good to hear about your lovely day! I’m so glad that you have such a kind neighbour. thanks

Urmstongran Mon 27-May-19 18:34:47

Back home after a lovely afternoon with friends.

I’m still curious how 2 of you ‘knew it was me’. I think soop and Marydoll have special powers!

Just eaten. Rotisserie chicken and sliced garlic potatoes bought from a ‘takeaway’ shop on the next block. You should see all the Spanish queuing! So all we have to do is strip the chicken and fry the potatoes in butter whilst I mix a salad and pour the wine. Set the table on our balcony overlooking the sea. Lovely!
❤️

Here I am poolside this afternoon.

Do you like my new bikini?
(Hehe!)
??

Panache Mon 27-May-19 18:11:07

Just a little catch up until I have some real time to well and truly share with you my kitchen friends.
The weather has been mainly good and life is moving at a great pace here with our new flat being decorated starting on Wednesday. We are more than pleased to find it far more spacious than anticipated though nevertheless, it is going to need an awful degree of “culling” to get fitted in!!!
The whole building is bright, cheerful with so much light and thus far we are more than happy with everything.

In fact more than one have said living there is more like being on a cruise!!!

With my dear one also having a period of respite it truly is such a blessing, however sadly my problems have escalated these last few days, and we can but seriously hope and pray it does not mean the few weeks back in Hospital which is usually the case.
Looking forward to days when I can read up and follow each one of you, but in the meantime please know you are very much in my thoughts..............TOYA to you all with love.

soop Mon 27-May-19 17:48:01

callgirl1 have been into Campbeltown. Care home visit. Audiology appointment and took a photo of a big ship in the small harbour. It is collecting wind turbine components.
Also said hello to David. The sun is shining and the camp site is well busy.

Charleyg I felt certain that Brodie would call last night. He didn't. Maybe tonight...

TOYA and I shall be back with you all tomorrow. smile moon

soop Mon 27-May-19 17:39:17

ann I really like the sound of your neighbour. She has brought sunshine into your life. You have done likewise for her. flowers

Nannyfaraway No need to apologise. You have been busy doing all manner of things. What is the musical?

corner I can almost smell the heady perfume of that beautiful rose.

callgirl1 Mon 27-May-19 17:09:06

Soop, you made an impression on them too, hence the good wishes.
It`s been a rain then sun, then rain again day today, but in between it all I`ve managed to dry a line of washing. Mia enjoyed the rain, safely ensconced on Lynne`s bed staring at the window! I hope your bedding dried CharleyG.
Ann, I`m so pleased that your day turned out so well after your earlier expectations.
I walked round to see my friend`s widower on the opposite bank this morning, he`s a 60s music fan like me, so we sit and watch Ch 87, there`s some cracking stuff on there twice a week.

Charleygirl5 Mon 27-May-19 16:00:13

ann that sounds a very pleasant time out with your friend and neighbour. Hopefully it stayed dry for you. The sun has been out here but it is not the warmest day of the year.

I have had an appointment with my washing machine- it was supposed to be showery today but none yet and hopefully none until at least my bedding dries.

soop I hope that the buggerations are having a rest as are you.
