Wonderful news about the flat, Panache. It's been such a long hard road to get there. It sounds ideal.
Off for the weekend to see DS1 and his family and now I just have to attend to some plants that need potting or I will find them dead when I get back next week. I also have some foxglove plugs which arrived this morning and need to put them in a safe corner of the wilderness garden.

I am exhausted doing nothing. My dishwasher arrived but the two fellows had an awful job removing the old one because the clowns who worked here before left rubble and wiring and the machine was caught up. It took these young fellows nearly two hours but the deed is now done. Anybody else would have walked out leaving me with a new machine cluttering up my kitchen.

The weather is glorious- Tara has been out for hours and has not popped back yet to check if I am still here.

Panache exciting times ahead but all will be so well worth it.

We are lucky to have a good many foxgloves growing wild in our garden. Our side/back plot is classified as our very own wilderness. The creatures approve.

Charleyg The two dear men who helped to sort out the removal and installation of the new dishwasher deserve to have a letter of gratitude sent to their boss.

Tara...bless her paddy paws...she's making up for being put out and poked about . When she sees fit, she'll saunter home and demand whatever takes her fancy.

I am logging off until after tomorrow's care home visit. My thoughts are with you all.

I bought the dishwasher from Euronics and I rang the man there to tell him that the men's actions here were above and beyond the call of duty.

Tara will be home around 7pm I would think and retire to bed. The way I feel I will also have an early night. There is zilch on TV for me but I have heaps to read.

Patience is a virtue and 'hanging on in there' has finally paid off.
Hoping the rest of the moving process goes smoothly.

Phew, busy day here. Cleaning accomplished, ironing and some garden tidying until a very cross blackbird nesting in a shrub objected so loudly I thought it best to retreat so it was back inside to the admin. Pleased to see the ticks on the ‘to do’, list but boy am I tired. .

All was well that ended well with the dishwasher charley, the installers certainly deserved of praise.

The plants will be fine anno, I’m sure of it, just enjoy yourself with your family.

DD has just gone to vote and taken the dog with her, she was allowed inside the Polling Station last time - the dog that is!

I have been doing my foot exercises, three times daily at the moment. The physio wants me to start walking outside, she was very encouraging yesterday so that's bucked me up a bit.

Soop you live in a beautiful location. I could spend all day sitting on that bench. Brodie has the best B&B! What a lucky moggie.
So good to hear that the Panaches's are having a much better time of it.

Lins if Brodie played his cards right he could move in permanently and never have to move far for the rest of his natural. He, like another certain cat, would be waited on hand and foot!!!

I doubt if that will happen because he is too wild although he does appear to enjoy some creature comforts.

My new ironing board arrived this morning, so I got stuck into Mt. Everest, now reduced to Snowdon.
My son rang his consultant in Lincoln this morning to ask when his final chemo session was going to be, but was told that he doesn`t need it. The next step is a scan on July 6th, fingers crossed.

I do love this thread. ‘You lot’ are such nice people and I do like how you care for and support one another. It’s an oasis of calm in a busy and sometimes upsetting world.

Pace yourself now soop I imagine in your post op euphoria you’ve overtired yourself? Easily done from what I heard from my sister at a similar stage. Some TLC is called for while you row back a bit.

First full day here in Spain and we’ve been sat in our lovely communal gardens, sat on our chairs, reading under a palm tree.

I just backtracked and read your post Maw what a tragic reason for delayed journeys.

My dear friend’s son took his own life in this way many years ago - he had suffered for years with depression and was schizophrenic. When the police called to her home with the news she collapsed and had to be sedated.

Weeks later at the coroner’s inquest she went over to the train driver to apologise for him having to suffer all this.

A tragedy for all concerned.

I've been trying to find Soop's Kitchen? Think I've found it now. Was recommended to me. I haven't spoken to anyone today, most days are like this. Wonder if there are others on Gransnet in the same situation as me?

Welcome rascal! I found Soop’s kitchen by accident and I love it! DH has major health problems at the moment and I sometimes feel quite alone, but there’s always such support from the kitchen. And a lot of fun as well. The important thing is that we all care, and we are never unkind. No aggressive posts here! And virtual cake is always welcome! So I’m leaving lemon drizzle cake for anyone who feels like a late night snack.

Hello the galloping kitchen! I am a laggard again, trying to catch up. I have to start by going back to the pictures of the lovely cuddly babies, both of whom are coming along a treat!
Callgirl I am heartened by the news of your DS - that is very positive.
All this talk of ironing is reinforcing the fact that I need to buy a new iron. Mine is fading fast. In the meantime, I am trying to ignore all but the essential items of clothing!
Corner I am sorry to hear you are not managing to sleep - happens to me often these days and everyone runs for the hills as I am like a bear with a sore head the next day! I am sure you are never so affected.
We had a day out at Hardwick Hall yesterday. We have been before years ago, but it is a better visitor experience now - the NT have upped their game somewhat. She was quite a lady, Elizabeth Shrewsbury; a Tudor force to be reckoned with. Hardwick was her masterwork, and she was over eighty before she finally moved in. I leave you with a few photographs.
I have a hospital appointment today. The hardest part, as always, is going to be the travelling to get there. Nothing to what some have to put up with, though. I will try and look in later.

A beautiful morning. Yesterday I managed to get most of my annuals potted up and my plug foxgloves settled in shady places. Astilbes, grown from plugs in a big trough were now quite big enough to be planted out, looking healthy. However, if anyone knows how to get rid of horsetail, I'd be very happy to hear of it.

Just a quick update. DiL latest mri results: bones, and everything below neck looks ok. Brain scan not so good. Maybe need a shunt, scan sent to kings. New drug regime starting now and steroids to stop weight loss. Good news or bad I just don’t know anymore. She was a bit perkier yesterday. Hope alls well in the kitchen I’d bring cake but I’ve no time sorry. Half term next week so lots of nannying. My poor husband never gets a rest. He’s getting further a further down the priority list. I know there are other granetters facing or have faced the same awful journey. I don’t know if they pop in, if so I send them my love. Keep up the good work all of you in this kind kitchen I wish there was a way of getting a really short synopsis of your comings and goings it worries me that I miss something I just haven’t got the time to go through the whole thread
