Party

My gd has just had her 5th birthday. Her mum organised simple face painting, another adult helped with sweet necklaces threading ( kits cheaply bought) and also fake tattoos were applied. Simple dancing competitions, musical islands ( sheets of newspaper) and of course pass the parcel with a lolly or sweet in each layer so every child won something. Last year she bought a piñata which she filled with small treats and was held up and each child took turns to have a hit until it burst- very exciting. Hope you have fun- sleeping lions definitely a good way to end.

Oh yes, the birthday parties, sleeping lions from start to finish would be my favourite if I had to do one now The favourites have been mentioned. Another one, see who can jump with a balloon between their knees so far to a marking point.First one there wins. Another one like sleeping lions, play music and when it stops they have to keep still and the first to move is out. Hide and seek for outdoors. Hot Potato, like pass the parcel, sit in a circle and pass the potato and when the music stops the child with the potato is out. I-spy. Sing 'if you're happy and you know it clap your hands' song and they do the movements. Sing 'hands , shoulders, knees and toes' song, sing it faster as you go along so they can't keep up with the actions. That's fun. Sing and play 'Hokey Cokey'

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. There are some fabulous ideas there- I’m really looking forward to it now. I love the idea of making their own party bags and cupcakes and I’d totally forgotten how you played Grandmother’s Footsteps. Really appreciate everyone’s help- thanks again.
