Synonymous that is great that DH stood on two legs. You had better get your skates on because once he gets used to wearing the prosthesis and gains his balance, you will be running after him.

I was aware that work was being done on my front lawn yesterday- I thought it was the water crowd or BT because they have metal covers on my land.

Today I stepped outside my front door, looked left and discovered a lovely new telegraph pole on my grass a few feet from the road. The sub - contractors had been told by the council to fix it there.

Nobody had the courtesy yesterday to tell me what they were doing- it was the council's job and not theirs. The council did inform us but not where they were going, mine was a new one and not like for like.

Today, after road closure, many phone calls, a couple of hours later I no longer have that monstrosity. The two holes were filled in, the council is unaware but they will be paying for re-turfing. Some councillors have been on a jolly to France so I think they can afford re-turfing here.

Apparently, a council member thought my grass was part of the road so belonged to the council?! I am happy now!

soop, I hope you are asleep as I type this and that the pain reduces for when you wake up.

Loving the tree peony dragonfly but I thought we had peonies just to remind the weather to ruin the flowers. That's what happens round here every year.

I thought I was fully recovered from my bug but I've had Wolfie this morning and he doesnt do sleeping or even sitting down and I'm jiggered.

Charleygirl you are quite right! Himself is only allowed to wear his leg for abut 20 minutes 2 or perhaps 3 times a day and is already walking well with it. Once he has 'worn it in' and his stump has toughened up I know there will be no stopping him! He is so thankful that he had the leg amputated as the continuous grinding pain has now gone which is a great relief. The phantom pain is still being worked on but the medication must be working as he doesn't cry out with that so much now thankfully. Onwards and upwards!

Oh dear, we all seem to be smitten with sorrow in the kitchen at the moment. That's not a flippant remark, I'm just trying to make sense of the quietness in here. So many people in sad places worrying about others in sad places. There are moments of joy from beautiful photos of children, plants and sunsets, and the great news of Mr Syn's new leg but unfortunately they are tempered with worry over our dear soop's painful swellings, the Panache's troubling health and housing worries, kitty's lingering buggeration and our mutual concern for ann, maw and everyone who's not feeling quite tickety-boo at the moment.

I'm including myself in that as I have to go for a scan next week and - having checked things said and not said by my GP with Dr Google - have managed to convince myself I'm pretty poorly!!! I know that's a foolish thing to do but it has made me worry about how my DS and DDIL would cope as they have enough on their plates. I know 'they' say no-one is indispensable but I don't want to add to my loved ones' tribulations.

Has anyone heard from Galen? I know she said she was going a while back but I assumed that was on a cruise. Do we know if that's right or if she's left GN, as I think she was unfairly attacked before she went?

anniebach I hope Fred (is that the right name?) likes his new home but that he is exploring his surroundings with you too. I think of you often.

I bought a potted young lilac tree last year and it has flowered this spring. I have it by my front door and take a deep sniff every time I go in and out, as does DDIL each time she visits. It's such a beautiful old-fashioned scent yet I saw our young, trendy postman inhaling its fragrance yesterday too. There is hope for the beauties of our world to still be appreciated for future generations.

Yesterday, daughter 3 and I went to Nottingham to see the Strictly Come Dancing Professionals. It was a brilliant show. Pasha received a standing ovation after it was announced that he was leaving Strictly, I like him, so will miss him.
My son has almost completed his 5th week of cancer treatment. One more week of radiotherapy, followed by one last chemo session, then he gets to ring the bell. He says he feels OK, apart from being very tired. We`re all keeping our fingers crossed for a positive result.
After reading one or two comments today, I`ve back tracked a little to read about Panache. Panache, I`m so sorry that things are still so bad for you and your lovely husband. Please, please, take every scrap of help that is available to you, you`ve both suffered way too much.

I still have not recovered from the shock and I cannot believe the subcontractors blindly digging up very deep holes on what looks to be private property. I did wonder if they were told to jump off a cliff would they do it?

I think the councillor was "unavailable" to speak with me on the phone yesterday but somebody was supposedly coming to my house to apologise- I do not think I will be waiting indoors. I could put pen to paper though.

Just popped into the kitchen while a workman has his tea break as I am not in the mood to chat to him. I cannot settle when I have workmen around. I just want the job done and my house back.
There are croissants and homemade jam on the side. Off to reorganise the larder cupboard.

We don’t get a huge variety of birds in our urban garden, so I was amazed when a blue tit just landed on my washing line outside the kitchen window, then clung on the side of the conservatory, presuming looking for insects. A lovely way to start the day! Of course, I grabbed my phone too late to take a pic!

Right! I've news for those of you lot who like cats.
As you know, we place a dish of dry cat food inside what was Rory's chalet. Some mornings the dish is clean. Not always. At 3 a.m. the outside sensor light woke me up and I peered through the bedroom window. There, half inside, half outside the wee chalet, was a gorgeous marmalade/ginger cat. The tail bore the stripes of a wild cat. He was therefore part wild and part feral. He was as large, maybe a little larger than our late Rory. He polished off the dish of food, drank from the fresh water we place outside the chalet, cleaned his whiskers and strolled away. MacSporran has asked me to wake him up when next "our" cat - McGarfield pays a visit. We are both thrilled.

But soop, the swelling and pain in your wrist and hand from the infusionreminds me of a similar thing I had from the site of a blood transfusion.
It was an infection and responded to antibiotics. It certainly was a buggeration at the time.

Just to say we are sort of moving on a pace with a lot of constructive help from our Home Hospice people, plus the Mc Millen team,whilst there are new "buggerations" and mountains to climb anew each day.

Fennel GP has results of bloods and confirms that the buggeration is indeed an unwanted reaction to the stuff meant to boost the calcium content in my poor old bones. Next infusion in six months time, should be easier on the system.

Panache Every positive is to be welcomed. You are heading in the right direction. You will prevail.

Delighted to hear that Mc Garfield has arrived. I doubt if he will ever become a house cat but it would be good if he at least trusted the pair of you if you were outside and he appeared.
