A place of great warmth, caring, and understanding, where love flows daily.

annodomini Wed 24-Apr-19 14:40:11

kitty, Persie is a delight! It doesn't seem a minute since you told us of her arrival and here she is, a well organised young woman! I hope you'll be feeling better soon so that you can go back on her 'to do' list.
Desperate for a brew, but the dentist put a 'little' anaesthetic in my lower gum and I'd slobber it everywhere.
I hope your drive to Oban has gone well soop. It's a lovely trip but I imagine the attraction palls a bit if you have to keep repeating it. However, if there's a fish supper at the end of it....grin

Anne apologies for the lateness of this message, but I have just realised your beloved husband has died. You are in my thoughts during a very emotional time for you.

maddyone Wed 24-Apr-19 13:47:36

Kitty, that made me smile, thank you.

kittylester Wed 24-Apr-19 13:39:36

Good advice maw.

I thought another Persieism might make you all smile.

We were supposed to be having Bertie and Persie for a sleepover tomorrow but I'm not really up to it. When DD3 told Bertie he said 'ok!' Persie said, 'well, that's a relief!'
DD3 asked why.

'Well, I can cross 'pack a bag to go to Ma's' off my to do list which was getting very long!'

maddyone Wed 24-Apr-19 13:29:50

Hi everyone, the kitchen is just the place I want to be just now, it’s so caring.
Annsixty, I’m so sorry to hear of your husband’s death. You cared for him for so long, you did him proud. Always remember that.
I do remember the long wait for the death certificate when my dear dad died. It was delayed because it was possible he had to have a PM which upset mum even more. You do feel helpless because you can’t do anything to hurry it up. Thank goodness you can finally pick it up this afternoon and register the death tomorrow. Please do as someone suggested and don’t go alone. And we used Tell Us Once service as Maw suggests, it cuts down the number of organisations you have to tell.

Morethan, the picture is gorgeous, it’s so lovely your daughter can cuddle her newborn grandchild. Thinking of you and your family.

The path is lovely Nanaandgrampy, what a talented husband you have.

annsixty Wed 24-Apr-19 13:19:55

Thankyou Maw I shall bear those things in mind.
I went with a friend to register her husband's death and even I got emotional.
Not much can be worse than the mortuary yesterday.
How I wish I had waited until he was with the funeral director in their Chapel of Rest.
I just felt I needed to see him.

MawBroonsback Wed 24-Apr-19 12:59:35

Looks as if things are beginning to clear for you Annsixty
If you have not been so advised already, do ask for several copies of the death certificate when you go to register, this can make life easier regarding banks, insurance etc.
Also have you been told about the Tell Us Once service? That simplifies passport, driving licence, council tax, Inland Revenue issues etc.
Finally - do not go alone, take a friend and go for a coffee or lunch afterwards. It is a harrowing experience and company can make it more bearable flowers

Charleygirl5 Wed 24-Apr-19 12:08:28

ann hopefully you will be able to put your mind at rest soon- you have been to hell and back and the long BH break has not helped.

Morethan what a delightful little bundle-already she is bringing joy.

A cousin of mine in Ireland dropped down dead from a heart attack, aged 41 and very healthy. We do not know what is around the corner- she leaves a husband and 15 year old son.

annsixty Wed 24-Apr-19 12:01:51

I can pick up the certificate this afternoon at 3pm.
I can register the death at 10.40am tomorrow.
The funeral director has been to see me this morning.
We are respecting my H's long held wishes for no funeral.
It will be direct cremation as he and I wanted both for him and for me.
The family are now at peace with that after listening to my reasons.

soop Wed 24-Apr-19 11:31:43

Lovely photos, N&G and callgirl1

Anneliesse Your husband is suffering at the moment. I am sending good wishes and hope that he will benefit from a professional opinion and pain relief.

I really must go. So sorry not to have caught up fully with all you lovely lot. It's unlikely that I shall be home in time to return to the kitchen again today.

TOYA smile sunshine

soop Wed 24-Apr-19 11:25:41

I am in the usual panic to prepare for the trip to Oban hospital with MacSporran. We need to set off fairly soon.

Ann My heart goes out to you. flowers

morethan Your photograph is uplifting for so many reasons. The smile on your daughter-in-law's face is testament to her own courage and the joy of having her granddaughter in her arms.

Well done, Grampy...the path is quite spectacular. A work of art. smile

kitty Get well soon. flowers

aggie Wed 24-Apr-19 10:22:43

Ann the system is terrible , what a long wait to suffer xxxx

annodomini Wed 24-Apr-19 10:12:41

callgirl, there was a huge blank space between the two parts of your post, but when I tracked back, I found your picture of Max who is now a real little boy and obviously doing very well.
maddy, I love the 'Supervet' shows on Channel 4 and Noel Fitzpatrick is one of my heroes. I hope you family's dog will now go from strength to strength. I sometimes wish I could refer my knees to Noel.
morethan, what a joy to see your DiL holding her grandchild - your GGC too.
ann, the 'system' is cruel to keep you hanging on for that certification. You have been through enough.
Now I have to pull myself together and go out to the dentist for a crown prep. Not thinking of the pain in my jaw as much as the pain in my bank account.

Greyduster Wed 24-Apr-19 09:30:15

I just have to say that it is BLOODY COLD this morning!!

Nannytopsy Wed 24-Apr-19 09:24:03

Lovely news Morethan and best wishes to you all x

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Apr-19 09:21:17

Lovely photo morethan, a new baby always brings love and hope.

Well a dear friend of over 30 years passed away over Easter, the second one in 6 weeks. I am feeling slightly numb.

As all of you here who have lost loved ones know life continues around you, I just feel a bit disconnected with the rest of the world.

I shall have to go the funeral (I could not face the last one as I knew it would be a large and somewhat grand affair), Mr.Gravy went along though.

This one will be in the same place as my Mums, Step Father and close family, unfortunately that's the price we pay for living were we grew up.

We had a family wedding on Easter Saturday and a glorious day and after party on Sunday, coming down with a bump now.

Sending hugs to all those in need, no cake, sorry.

TOYA ??

NanaandGrampy Wed 24-Apr-19 09:09:30

Morning all !

Its a bright and blue one here today . Despite his back still being an issue Grampy has gone off to do speed watch . I am enjoying an hour alone - its a rare and lovely thing.

Lovely photo Morethan totally understand where you're coming from, you have limited energy and must apply it where it does most good. Thinking of you all !

I agree NannyTopsy , I have never gone to see a deceased person ( I saw enough in my early career) , I am a firm believer that the shell left after the soul takes wings isn't the person I knew , so I prefer my memories of happier days. I hope you're taking care of yourself ann , I imagine the delays are wearing you down more but hopefully now things are getting back to normal you will get the necessary paperwork quickly.

What a shame your Dh was unwell and couldn't enjoy your lunch out Anneliese , hope he is feeling much improved soon.

Love the picture of Max callgirl , happy birthday to him !!

I had better go and get sorted as Officer Grampy will be back soon and I don't want it to look like Ive sat on the sofa with coffee and the laptop lol

Ill leave you with a picture of the path that finished Grampy off !

Happy days all !!

kittylester Wed 24-Apr-19 08:33:53

What a lovely photo, morethan. Please dont worry about how often you pop in - we like to hear how things are when you can manage.

ann thanks the limbo is awful isn't it.

Wishing you well on your journey today, soop.

Welcome back izabella, its brilliant to make memories!

callgirl what a fab photo - savour every mouthful of that cake. grin

anneleise, I hope your dh has some sort of resolution to his problems soon.

I gave been in bed for the last few days with the world's worst cough, sore ribs and sinusitis with the associated hot sweats. I'm fed up now! I blame the dgc

TOYA

annsixty Wed 24-Apr-19 08:29:33

I did mention a couple of weeks ago that I thought the baby was due anytime now.
Congratulations to you all and I hooe the baby gives you all much comfort and gives your DiL something to concentrate on.
The little ones also have a focus.
You are incredibly brave and strong and you know that you are always in our thoughts.

mumofmadboys Wed 24-Apr-19 08:24:25

Thinking of you Morethan x

Greyduster Wed 24-Apr-19 08:12:54

Morethan that is a heartwarming photo of your DiL with her new grandson! It will give you all something good to focus on. I was thinking of you only yesterday so am pleased to see your post. Take it easy.?

morethan2 Wed 24-Apr-19 07:58:15

I’m sending condolences to both Nannytopsy and annsixty I’m sorry I haven’t been around to hear all your news. I don’t know if it’s normal with any long term illness in the family to get to a point when there’s no energy left to talk. It’s been an incredibly difficult six months my DiL has been so ill. I may have said that last year my granddaughter said she wanted to make her mum a granny, well she did and it seems to have bucked my DiL up a bit. I can’t promise to drop in on a regular basis I have weeks when I can only muster the energy to deal with the daily stuff, but I know that lots of you are kind enough to think of me and my family so I wanted to update you.

Nannytopsy Wed 24-Apr-19 04:37:19

I didn’t go to see Mum- age had not been kind and I don’t think death would have been any kinder. I am still upset that I wasn’t there to hold her hand. The care home didn’t tell us that she had been deteriorating for a few days until an hour before she died. I found out afterwards.

annsixty Wed 24-Apr-19 04:03:23

You cant carry them all Nannytopsy you will need my help.
Anofher sleepless night for me, we are still in limbo here.
Because of Easter we still have no medical certificate, I can't register my H's death until we do.
The funeral director cannot get his body from the mortuary withoug that.
My S and I went fhere to see him yesterday, I cannot get the image of him out of my mind and wish I hadn't gone.

Nannytopsy Wed 24-Apr-19 03:50:07

3 weeks in Tenerife sounds just the job! Do you want anyone to carry your bags?
