A place of great warmth, caring, and understanding, where love flows daily.

Feelingmyage55 Tue 30-Apr-19 20:53:10

soop I don’t think you are too old for a detention - although a nice one with regular cups of tea and cake. Maybe we will have to get mcsporran to write a report card and make you earn gold stars for good behaviour - but only because we care. I said it before and I am happy to repeat “festina lente”. Safe travels tomorrow.
baggs?

cornergran Tue 30-Apr-19 20:49:43

I’m so sorry for your loss baggs, my love to you and your family. Look after yourselves as best you can.

Oh soop, as my mum used to say to us ‘you are a worry to me’. Or in this case to us all. I’m delighted to hear you are being sensible, wouldn’t want to see you quarantined by charley. Wishing you well for tomorrow, enjoy the fish and chips, hope the sun shines on you and Macs.

I’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow, panache, good for you for at least resting your body. I agree, resting the head is much harder. I also agree, illness in someone we care for is so much harder to bear than our own illness.

Yes, a lot to look forward to dragonfly, good distractions which may help with the need for patience, it sounds as if you are getting the best of care and have just the right registrar. Wishing you well.

Your girl is certainly beautiful charley, good to see the boss in the house smile

Hmm kitty, you’ve been proper poorly, you sure you’ll be OK by the weekend? That sure is a proper bug you’ve been hosting. Please take care, it seems you may need nagging too. The worktops can wait!

Today’s visit sounds reassuring annielese, quality of life is certainly important, for you both. .

Hectic but good day for us today, we managed to see our friend smile and relax for a bit before enjoying a bit of a wander. Another full day on the horizon tomorrow, little free time until next Monday, we can do this - I hope hmm

Take care everyone. TOYA.

baggs How sorry I am to hear this very sad news. It is truly heartbreaking to lose your mum. Sincere condolences to you and all your family. ?

NanaandGrampy Tue 30-Apr-19 20:46:28

Evening all,

Just a quick trip in. Grampy's back is worse rather than better so life is quiet here !

I'm sorry to hear of Baggs sad loss - thinking of her and her family .

Glad to hear the NHS has given you a dishy doc dragonfly :-)

Loved the picture of Tara Charley she is just as I imagined her.

Soop , glad to hear you are resting. Keep it up!

Kitty glad you made your way to your kitchen but sounds like you might have preferred to stay in bed lol !!

I am off to make sure Grampy gets to bed!

Ill catch up with the kitchen tomorrow xx

annsixty Tue 30-Apr-19 19:49:57

Knowing how I am feeling now I send my sincere condolences to Baggs and her family.
It is a sad and lonely place.

soop Tue 30-Apr-19 19:13:40

dragonfly I'm so happy to hear that you have a dishy registrar who will be giving you the very best of care between now and going to surgery.
Your daughter is lucky to have a supportive Mum to help her on her road to recovery.
A lovely celebration waiting in the wings. Wishing you all that you wish for yourself.

I am calling in to tell you that our dear Baggs and her family, had a very sad Easter weekend. Baggs Mother died peacefully. She has given me permission to tell you. She is, as you will appreciate, a private person. I'm sure that any kind messages will be of comfort to her. She will not necessarily wish to respond at this time. It's what we do. We support each other in whatever way is appropriate.

flowers for Baggs

dragonfly46 Tue 30-Apr-19 18:11:21

It would seem I am going to be on the magic tablets awhile longer. I have been assigned a very dishy registrar who I will see every four weeks until I see my surgeon in July. My bloods and ECG were fine so I have to keep the faith and be patient.
My daughter is having a hip replacement tomorrow so we have booked to go down next week to care for her followed by a trip to Brighton at the weekend for our DGD’s 4th Birthday.
The weekend after that we are going to friends in Cambridge so lots to look forward to.
TOYA

soop Tue 30-Apr-19 17:23:00

Honest to goodness. You lot have put the fear of Satan into me. The truth is - I am taking life at a snail's pace. I do take to my bed to read and doze every afternoon. My blood pressure is fine. My bloods, too. It's almost certainly the UTI that is making me feel peely-wally. wink
MacSporran has in fact offered to pop into the kitchen to reassure you all. He is an honest man. He would not tell fibs.

kitty Well done. I applaud you.

Anneliese Having home visits from the MND nurse will certainly be less stressful than constant visits to the hospital. I agree wholeheartedly...the quality of your husband's life, is of paramount importance. flowers

We set off for my hospital appointment after breakfast tomorrow. Two hour plus trip both ways with a fish and chip treat on the way home. grin I shall have a fitting for a substitute titty followed by the infusion.

If we are not too late returning home, I shall pop in for catch up. If we are running late, I shall pop in on Thursday morning. No ironing duties for the foreseeable... grin

TOYA and last night's sunset to lift your spirits. smile moon

kittylester Tue 30-Apr-19 16:59:34

Crikey jane!! grin

I suspect we have all been thinking that soop so you'd better do as you are told. And drink this brew!

Has anyone heard from dragonfly?

I got up this afternoon - round of applause please - went into the kitchen and nearly had to go for a lie down again. DH does his best but doesnt seem to think that a work surface might need a thorough wipe over. grin He has been a superstar really but I can tell his patience is wearing thin. Luckily, he is going away for the weekend so I'd better make sure I can cope by then.

TOYA

Anneliese63 Tue 30-Apr-19 16:57:11

soop You know how much we worry! PLEASE put yourself first and rest.

The MND specialist nurse came this afternoon. She was very good and gave us a huge amount of information in a way that was reassuring. Many appointments will be home visits, which will mean we don’t have to make the nightmare journey to hospital so often. I know it’s not going to be easy, but the important thing is quality of life, and helping DH stay as well as he can for as long as he can.

TOYA

Charleygirl5 Tue 30-Apr-19 15:55:21

soop Jane has started the lecture and I will continue. I will give you 24 hours and if you do not REST I will be up to re-open the ward and I will look after you personally.

Luckily you felt unwell in the care home- what if you had been out for a walk, fallen and fractured your hip?

I think that Max and Flynn would behave better. Lecture over.

janeainsworth Tue 30-Apr-19 14:28:50

Soop!!!
If you won’t think of yourself, at least think of MacSporran, your sons, your DGCs and your DGGCs, do as you’re told, and REST until you are better. Do you think they all want to see you having funny turns and worse, just because you’re ignoring instructions?
We heal much more slowly when we’re older and you are not giving yourself a chance!
I’m tempted to add an angry emoticon!
So there!!

soop Tue 30-Apr-19 14:27:23

Charleyg Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! grin

Panache I am wishing you and all our Buggeration Busters a peaceful day. I'm aboot to follow your strict instructions. shock I shall put my feet up, gather a tartan rug across my knees and drink tea whilst watching snooker. I shall almost certainly doze off.
Back a little later.

soop Tue 30-Apr-19 14:21:38

callgirl Max is an adorable one year old. What a costly cake! Made my eyes water. Did it taste extra specially good?

Maw loved your cakes. Any going spare? hmm

Mamissimo Buggeration Busters That is so clever of you. grin

granniequeenie Your photographs never fail to delight. They are simply stunning.

Doodle You have a wonderful way with words. Always appreciative and kind. smile

jane I had a funny turn in the care home and finished up on the floor. Very well cared for by the lovely staff. MacS called in at the surgery as we travelled home. Nurse said...you do look peely-wally in her gorgeous Scots accent. Urine sample checked. The bloody UTI still lingers. Prescribed further course of Nitrofurantoin. Infection is e-coli based and extremely stubborn

Panache Tue 30-Apr-19 12:57:30

Well worth waiting for Charleygirl............she is a little cracker and you cantell her I said so!!

Charleygirl5 Tue 30-Apr-19 12:00:36

A long overdue photo of my baby girl.

aggie Tue 30-Apr-19 11:46:43

DD3 has just ruined my day !! she wants to catch up with the paperwork shock

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Apr-19 11:33:55

Wishing all of you with buggerations a peaceful day.

I am having a "doing all the horrible jobs that I have been putting off day" not doing well as I am laying on my bed scrolling through GN!!!!!

TOYA ????

Panache Tue 30-Apr-19 11:27:09

You could not have uplifted me more than you did with your pictures of a bluebell wood GQ,I have such happy memories of the 25 years we lived cheek to jowl by such an ancient wood that was truly a carpet of blue each year at this time.I could even smell that divine aroma!!!

I remember this “Buggeration Busters” idea was first thought of by Mamissimo last year when I was up to my neck with problems and seeing it having such willing participation speaks loudly of the love and caring flowing through this kitchen.Believe me back in the day I would be there at the helm offering my services too!

Whilst I managed well with my own cancer diagnoses time and time again, whilst granted twice it was a near death situation. However having my beloved one going through this same route is a completely differing ball game.Point being he has been my solid rock when time and time again my health has faltered so,and the thought of carrying on as I have tried to do since his stroke in December, manning every fort,is truly heart breaking now that my own strength is barely holding up.
However Corner your wise words make sense and of course I am resting today, bodily resting although as you can imagine my mind is fully active!Sleep too is such a mega problem.

Feeling for you Soop as I am not in the least surprised you are fatigued, you have been through a lot in a relatively short period ....and not as young as you once were... so you will find the spirit ever willing but the darn body is knackered!!You really do need this rest my friend.

Dragonfly my thoughts are with you especially this day.You have been kept waiting and that is quite cruel when you hear so much chatter from us all as we each follow differing routes, and it seems as though you are standing still.Hopefully you too will have some treatment plans arranged ......and soon.

Thinking of you and willing you back to home and improved health dear Marydoll and it seems you too are very much “under the weather” our Kitty......you too will have been worrying about your own husband as he went through various stages of being treated..............the aftermath can often bring the partner to their knees.
I am sure both Maw and Ann will vouch for this.

Trusting you are coping well Ann and I am in complete agreement with your funeral plans, you have to do it your own way for peace of mind afterwards.

Hope all the fog has cleared Izabella and there is beautiful clear sunshine all around you.On hearing our collection of birds twittering their happy song yesterday I immediately thought of you.
Over the years we have created quite a bird paradise here,so that is another thing I shall miss.

Appreciating you one and all, hope life is being kind and TOYA with love!

Susan56 Tue 30-Apr-19 10:01:25

Dragonfly, wishing you well with your appointment today.xx?

MawBroonsback Tue 30-Apr-19 08:17:10

To be fair, few bakers can charge the true cost of a “showstopper” cake and make a profit when you consider the time that goes into it.
We only think of the ingredients , the prime one of which is love

harrigran Tue 30-Apr-19 07:40:37

That was not just a birthday cake but three so cost would escalate accordingly, we usually pay about £60 for a decorated cake.
soop you need to allow time for R&R, you are way more active than I am and my operation was ten months ago.

kittylester Tue 30-Apr-19 07:17:28

I hesitated to mention the cake cost. Some of you might remember that DD3 had a business making cakes (mostly wedding) but she made celebration cakes too. One like the birthday cake would have cost the customer around £60.

And, I was going to suggest that you give the Care Home visit as miss too, soop.

Wishing dragonfly well for her appointment today.

Back later but, in the meantime, TOYA.

callgirl1 Tue 30-Apr-19 00:01:29

Meant to add, lovely photos GrannyQ, it`s many, many years since I walked through a bluebell wood.

callgirl1 Mon 29-Apr-19 23:58:07

Charley and MawB, my thoughts entirely re the cake, especially as the grandma who bought it is not really all that well off. I used ton go to the bread shop down the road to order my kids` birthday cakes to be made, and he always did a great job for not a lot of money.
