Made me laugh, anyway! grin

A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald's. He noticed that they had ordered one meal, and an extra drink cup. As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them. Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn't have to split theirs. The old gentleman said, "Oh no. We've been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50." The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat, and she replied, "It's his turn with the teeth."

70-year-old George went for his annual check-up. He told the doctor that he felt fine, but often had to go to the bathroom during the night. Then he said: "But you know Doc, I'm blessed. God knows my eyesight is going, so he puts on the light when I pee, and turns it off when I'm done!" A little later in the day, Dr. Smith called George's wife and said: "Your husband's test results were fine, but he said something strange that has been bugging me. He claims that God turns the light on and off for him when uses the bathroom at night." Thelma exclaimed: "That old fool! He's been peeing in the refrigerator again!

I couldn't imagine you'd have a sense of humour Maryeliza.
Boom boom !

Grammaretto Fri 22-Mar-19 14:39:13

Ha ha!!
I thought it was going to be about us when it began as we often share a meal and ask for a second plate. We draw the line at teeth though ..... but it's an idea. wink
So little to laugh at these days. Keep 'em coming.
I like the hippo joke.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:42:04

No it doesn't lose anything. It's good.

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:46:54

hmm should we be telling jokes about chickens and hippos.

Blonde DD thought DH's blonde joke was very good.

Two men were trying to measure the height of a pole with a steel tape, but the tape would keep bending and falling before they could reach the top of the pole.
A blonde woman comes by and asks "what are you guys trying to do?"
They tell her "we're trying to find the height of this pole, but our tape measure keeps bending before it gets to the top."
The woman points to the base of the pole and says "see that pin there? if you pull out that pin, you can lay the pole down to the ground and then measure it"
They pull the pin, lower the pole to the ground. the blonde woman grabs the tape and measures the pole.
"12 feet, 6 inches" she says proudly, and walks away.
"Typical blonde" says one man to the other "we ask her for the height and she gives us the length"

Of course, that is a sexist joke and negatively stereotypical

Jal love it but then I don’t think men are a marginalised group who need protecting ( this could be a joke ) ( or maybe not). EV I’m always surprised that anyone thinks they know anything about any poster

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:52:45

grin That's very good. You think it's going to be a "blonde" joke but really the laugh is on the men.

Mapleleaf Fri 22-Mar-19 14:55:00

I think that jokes that need lengthy explanations are rarely funny....

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:56:12

Depends how you look at it. Sometimes when a joke is explained, you can see how clever it actually is.

maryeliza54 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:56:20

This really happened. I was sitting at the bar having a drink and a pleasant young woman I knew briefly joined me and we chatted. She looked at her watch several times and eventually said ‘ oh I can go now. I parked in the bay outside an hour ago but it said no return within one hour’

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:58:00

Yes. Well. It took me a long time to figure out what those signs meant. blush

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:58:22

It's not easy!

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Mar-19 14:58:46

should we be telling jokes about chickens and hippos

I asked that because chickens and hippos could be marginalised groups who cannot answer for themselves

grin

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 14:59:44

Oh I see!!! (wondered wtf you were on about) shock grin

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Mar-19 15:00:23

Jane10 Fri 22-Mar-19 15:02:47

Very good point Jalima1108! How unfeeling to laugh at chickens and hippos.

Mapleleaf Fri 22-Mar-19 15:03:24

Perhaps, GG, but more often than not, the impact is lost if lengthy explanations are required.

Gonegirl Fri 22-Mar-19 15:04:21

Yes. The impact is. I am, perhaps, thinking scientifically!

Jalima1108 Fri 22-Mar-19 15:20:04

The chicken one is very funny!

Btw. you need to close up the brackets fore and aft to get the Smiley to work.

Rufus2 Sat 23-Mar-19 11:11:59

Q: Why do nursing homes give Viagra to the old men every night?
A: It keeps them from rolling out of bed!

Elderly Couple
An elderly couple go to church one Sunday. Halfway through the service, the wife leans over and whispers in her husbands ear, "I've just let out a silent fart. What do you think I should do?" The husband replies, "Put a new battery in your hearing aid."

Wobbles Sat 23-Mar-19 11:14:19

If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? I'm from Norfolk and love Normal for Norfolk jokes. Or NFN as they're called locally smile

A very elderly woman goes to live in a beautiful care home, where she is treated kindly by the staff.

After breakfast each day, she sits in the lounge in a soft comfortable chair.

Every now and then she slips sideways, and without fail, the staff come and gently straighten her up, propping her upright with cushions and pillows.

However many times she leans, they patiently sit her up again.

When her family visit, they're very impressed at how well she is, and how attentive the staff are.

"So, how are you settling in, Mummy, are you treated well?"

"Its really lovely; the food, the staff, the views; everything.
The one complaint I have is that you're not allowed to fart!"

Jane10 Sat 23-Mar-19 12:39:08

grin I don't know why farting is funny but it just is. When my children were young we'd often visit our lovely very elderly nieghbour. She had a very significant flatulence issue but completely ignored the resulting explosions (no other word for them!). The children thought it was stunningly funny. I spent my whole time trying to restrain them from laughing or commenting.
