Alcohol on flights ?

Surely the reason alcohol is served during flights is to make the execrable airline ready meals palatable.

gabriella actually yes, I do have a glass of wine every night with dinner.
And before you ask, no, it is not because the food at Ainsworth Towers is unpalatable. We just happen to like it.

My holidays start the moment the taxi arrives to take us to the airport, not when we arrive at our destination.

Ive never done long haul as I hate flying anyway. But do like the sun! I never drink in a flight but I'm not a big drinker anyway do like a glass of Vino with my meal though. It's always the minority's that spoils things for us.

No alcohol in airports or on plane - like no smoking in airports or on plane. If you can’t manage on a cup of tea/coffee or two, you have a problem.

Totally agree, Granless. For one thing, alcohol is dehydrating, as is the pressurised cabin on an airliner. I also cannot imaging why anyone would need to drink first thing in the morning. At least ban alcohol in airports and on planes before, say, noon.

This would surely have the effect of reducing some of the drunkenness on flights.

Oh Blinko if only airlines would serve decent proper tea and limitless cake....now that's my idea of a holiday!

The airports must make a fortune from the outlets selling alcoholic beverages. At the moment, the drinkers are paying that. Ban this source of revenue and the airports will have to find it elsewhere, and that most likely means that the rest of us will have to pay it one way or another.

For one thing, alcohol is dehydrating, as is the pressurised cabin on an airliner.
It is, so those who do drink responsibly will probably be drinking plenty of water on a flight too - on most flights I've taken, water and juice is freely available.

On short haul, presumably any drinks, alcoholic or not, have to be paid for - so a source of income for the airline. I wouldn't bother to have a glass of wine on a short haul flight.
