One thing leads to another

It is finished, and the rain did come, not for long, but enough to wet the washing again, and DH while he brought it in.
Anja, thank you. I used to love DIY, but we usually get someone in these days. The porch was such a small job!! that I knew if I got started, it wouldn’t take long. My dad was a great DIYer, and I learned a lot by watching him. The crack isn’t structural, it’s just that we are on clay, and the house does have it’s moments. I don’t think it’s going to fall down, just yet anyway.
Gramaretto, I only went up one or two steps, but I admit the handrail is a good thing to hang on to.
Elegran, And JackyB, I do have a couple of those little stools, but managed by bending over, luckily it was a quick job, so no lasting effects, at the moment.
I shall put the curtain back up tomorrow, then all is clean and fresh, until the next time.

I prefer to use a stool, too, to clean out the bottom of cupboards or even to just get something out of there, for gardening, rather than bending, crouching or kneeling. Tum gets in the way a bit, but it's not such a strain on the back or leg muscles, and you can't fall over!

Auntieflo Whenever I need to do something DIY below hip level, I sit on a plastic stool (first bought so that grandchildren could reach the loo). If I knelt down, I would never get up again.

Well done. I get nervous of being up ladders these days.
We are decorating a room just now. The worst part is getting started and clearing out. We are doing it in sections which is probably a mistake but there's nowhere to put the contents otherwise.
Must get back to work. It'll be lovely when it's done.

In awe of your DIY skills! But ought you perhaps get this crack checked out in case it’s subsidence ????
