things that bring tears to your eyes.

Just writing a post in another subject about my mum and Mother's Day did just that, my eyes prickled and the tears formed. If you had a loving mother and father it doesn't matter how old you are you still miss them even after so many years of their deaths.

I used to believe I was close to my sister but as the years have passed she has become mean, nasty and she thinks she is better than the rest of our family.

My daughter recently immigrated to Ireland. I still miss them dreadfully and at times get extremely emotional as I miss her and my grandson dreadfully.

My sister only contacts me when she wants something. A few weeks ago she called to tell me they were also immigrating to Ireland. Since then she phoned every few days to gloat and she rubs it in, she is moving close to my daughter, she will be bonding with my grandson and she will be spending loads of time doing fun things with them.

This is upsetting me. It is mean and she is deliberately upsetting me. She knows how pset I feel about the loss of my family to another country. Why does she need to go out of her way to make me feel worse.

I have developed a dislike for my own sister. She is just a nasty piece of work. I just dont know how to move forward with her.
Should I just cut her loose. She treats my parents with the same disrespect. I cannot believe how different we are.

I hold back the tears for today, St. Patrick's Day because it is exactly nine years ago that my dear late husband got his rotten diagnosis of motor neurone disease. I put a brave face on it but find it sad.

Gone girl - I know just what you mean. Many things bring tears to my eyes, but sometimes I think a real good sob would get rid of a lot of pent up emotion. Just can't seem to do it anymore!

Tears came to my eyes yesterday when the Welsh National Anthem was sung at the rugby

Maine your sister will never be as close to your GC as you are because you share more of a gene pool with them and that makes a lot of difference. flowers

My lovely intelligent feisty mother has had dementia for three years now...I miss my interesting conversations with her so much.

She was also ‘the keeper of the family flame’. She had so many family stories to tell, and kept everyone united..she would be pleased to know my siblings and I are quite close.

I think she got dementia after struggling on her own for five years after my father died. She never came to terms with his death and her grief just got worse and worse.
I just want her to go and be with him.

Mother’s Day is very painful for me.

Certain songs that remind me of happy - or sad - times always reduce me to tears. They can immediately conjure up those long ago moments. And Welsh male voice choirs never fail to bring the tears on.

Brass bands, bagpipes, anything to do with child or animal cruelty, Christmas carols, nativity plays, certain songs from my teenage years (especially Stevie Wonder's My Cherie Amour, Otis Redding's Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Don McLean's Vincent and strangely Sunny by Bobby Hebb, which is a happy song, but sets me off!) watching toddlers play, and for some reason watching traffic slow down and move over for ambulances has me absolutely sobbing!

gulligranny Sun 17-Mar-19 21:21:26

Brass bands do it for me too, there is just something about the sound that hits the spot marked X. Was at a concert once where a solo trombonist played the old Frank Sinatra song "All The Way", it was utterly spellbinding and tearjerking.

I cried today; my DH is in hospital at the moment (always worrying) and he's been moved to the same ward that my mum died in 15 years ago. On my way out I suddenly burst into tears, which was somewhat embarrassing!

DD2 takes after me. She can't get through Sunset without crying either.

I often cry when I think I have never been around when my parents died, they did so much for me and I wasnt there for them. I live far away in another country, and just didnt get to them in time. They were not alone, they had a very good friend with them in the end, but not their Daughter.

I cry when I hear Matt Munro singing 'Softly as I leave you.'
My Mum left my 23 months old brother in his cot and went downstairs to take her own life. I can just imagine how she felt walking away from him. I cry especially at the words, 'Please don't go.' I was 8yrs old at the time and I am now in my 70's but it still hurts.

It would have been my mums birthday today, always a hard day even after nearly 20 years. I always buy flowers and make a special cake.

I cry if I hear an animal has been cruelly treated. With a human they can at least complain but poor animals just have to put up with ill treatment

I thought I’d read The Peppermint Pig (Nina Bawden) to my grandchildren. I last read it to my own children about 35 years ago so I read it again.
Oh no, how I cried! I shan’t be able to read it aloud without breaking down and getting laughed at!

Urmstongran Mon 18-Mar-19 21:12:17

I cry at many things too. Some of these posts here are so poignant ?? to you all.

I read once that when an old person dies a library burns to the ground.

My mum died last year a few days before Mother’s Day in fact, so this will be no. 2 without her. So many times I’ve wanted to ask her something.

Slipping they my fingers by ABBA. We thought dd might die in 2012 after a terrible event. It was 50/50, thankfully she eventually survived. Cannot under any circumstances hear this song without weeping.

My mum is welsh and has altzimers but she forgot the anthem on Saturday and that made me cry. She forgot she was welsh! Heartbreaking really.

jillyRosa totally agree about animals too.
