I m listening to an awful incident unfolding in NZ a mass shooting on mosques in Christchurch. Multiple deaths including children the perpetrators have put live video footage of people being shot and killed on the web
It is reported to be a white Supremacy massacre, only one shooter has been captured

What a sad sad day for the world

BTW- why on earth is this thread on

'chat' ?

jura2 Fri 15-Mar-19 12:04:28

Bluebell, how sickening are those comments, by Tommy Robinson and the like- right here, on our doorstep. Those who have threatened violence on our streets if they don't get the Brexit they want- and still laugh at Joe Cox's murder.

Anniebach Fri 15-Mar-19 12:07:53

Let us not forget there are schools in this country which have protection officers

BlueBelle Fri 15-Mar-19 12:11:47

I know Jura I m sorry I put it on the wrong forum I was in a bit of a pickle listening to it through the night and didn’t think where I wrote it
sorry if it’s annoyed you

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 12:28:44

Will this now set a precedent for revenge attacks ?

janeainsworth Fri 15-Mar-19 12:30:12

Ellanvannin you insult the many people with mental health problems when you say that this atrocity was the action of a ‘madman’.
Quite apart from the ignorance of your comment, you are giving the perpetrators an excuse for their behaviour.

We have to accept that some people are evil, and express their hatred of others through extreme violence.

I am tired too of blame being placed on the Internet.

Hitler didn’t do Facebook, did he?

jura2 Fri 15-Mar-19 12:33:08

Bluebell, of course it did not 'annoy' me- just surprised.

Jane43 Fri 15-Mar-19 12:36:06

It is appalling and probably one of the last places in the world that I would have imagined this happening. Is nowhere safe anymore?

Elegran Fri 15-Mar-19 12:45:39

NannyC2 No, don't blame the devil, or the end time, or some vague concept of ultimate evil. Blame PEOPLE - bigotted, selfish, violent people who believe that destroying those who are different from them will make the world a better place. The exact opposite is true. For every "different" person destroyed, three more, like the heads of the hydra, will take their place to avenge them and destroy their murderers, plus as many others as their guns and bombs reach. Then more and more avengers arise to avenge those victims, until there will be no-one left on earth.

We know what you meant Ellen, why do people interpret things just to pick an argument.

This is a dreadful event, and everyone is horrified, every single one of us ......

megan123 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:15:24

sorry Ellan

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 13:18:30

Megan it was Janeainsworth who was nasty----attack her !!
She purposely used what I'd originally said, against me !

megan123 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:19:16

there are dozens of words to describe this bl***y idiot, madman, crackpot, terrorist, wicked etc .......

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 13:19:26

Why are you all so quick at finding fault ?? It's horrible.Nasty

megan123 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:20:48

Yes I know Ellan I wasn't attacking you at all!! Goodness, I was saying I understand what you were saying. For god's sake!

megan123 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:21:38

I was agreeing with you.

dragonfly46 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:22:27

I cannot believe what I am reading on this thread - nitpicking about terms of address, where this is posted etc. My goodness the evilness of these acts are what is important not how the perpetrators are addressed.
I feel immense sadness for the people in Christchurch and our thoughts should be with them. We should not be squabbling amongst ourselves about unimportant details. You should be ashamed!!!

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 13:24:34

So sorry Megan. I'm so used to being attacked that I expect a volley of posters all joining in.x

Gonegirl Fri 15-Mar-19 13:28:47

I can't believe that there is arguing on this thread. Shame on you.

megan123 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:29:16

I understand, Ellan we are all dreadfully upset. I have just been watching the news and have had to switch it off. So very sad.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 13:33:08

Dragonfly believe you me there are many here who are more concerned in what's written or worded than being interested in the subject being discussed.
I'm appalled at them too. They disgust me.

One or two posters have already expressed disgust at those whose aim it is is to disrupt and cause unpleasantness.
Sadly this world has become a hotbed for troublesome people online. They certainly wouldn't say the same face to face.

Day6 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:35:12

Awful. Why? What has been achieved? sad

I wonder if these murderers NEED the internet, need the publicity? If their atrocities were reported in a low key manner (but with full investigation by the appropriate authorities) would they bother?

Sigh. I guess those with murder and hatred in their hearts don't give a damn about the reaction of others though. Even condemnation doesn't affect them.

janeainsworth Fri 15-Mar-19 13:35:37

Dragonfly I’m sorry if you thought I was squabbling. I agree that this is far too serious an event to nitpick about.
But I was trying to address the suggestion made by EV that this atrocity was the work of “a madman”.
It wasn’t. It was an orchestrated attack by evil people who are probably quite sane but who subscribe to far-right ideology. We are lucky that thanks to our security and intelligence services, similar things haven’t happened here in the U.K.

Day6 Fri 15-Mar-19 13:41:19

there are many here who are more concerned in what's written or worded than being interested in the subject being discussed

True, EllanVannin.

It's as rude and unnecessary as correcting grammar. It's a sort of virtue signalling, isn't it?

PC in the extreme.

Lots of things are 'mad'.
