I m listening to an awful incident unfolding in NZ a mass shooting on mosques in Christchurch. Multiple deaths including children the perpetrators have put live video footage of people being shot and killed on the web
It is reported to be a white Supremacy massacre, only one shooter has been captured

What a sad sad day for the world

I think it’s important to stand in support of those affected by this appalling atrocity. It’s a tiny tiny act but I’ve emailed our local mosque to say how shocked and upset I am by the events in NZ. I shall take flowers later today.

First I do visit NZ regularly my family are there
Second I wasn’t trying to have a competition over who is most or least racist Any racism in any country is abhorrent
I just feel horrendous about how Muslims are safe in NO country and I can’t bear how the Far right is marching across the world I have lived though 60 s racism when I married outside my own ethnicity I feel it’s moving back to those dark times and in many ways worse
I shed tears for this world that we are ruining

Poor Christchurch, they went through so much with the earthquakes, a lot of people will be re traumatised. Heartbreaking to think of those poor people who came here to NZ to bring their families up in a safe place having to live through this fear and horror.
Bigotted and racist extreme right wingers are usually very thick and ignorant.

EllanV : 'Another madman !
Just been reading online about this Australian psycho.'

so here we go again- if he was brown, if he was Muslim- he would be a terrorist, but as he is white and local he is 'a madman'.

The UK has 100s of such people too- born and bred- who belong to the EDL, BF and other well hidden groups - and whipped up by the gutter press, and the likes of 'Tommy Robinson' and they are threatening violence right now- and using Brexit as a shield.

GreenGran78 Fri 15-Mar-19 10:33:27

The Bangladesh cricket team were arriving by coach to visit and pray, but managed to escape. I wonder if they were intended as the main targets?

Such a dreadful crime, and to actually mainstream the horror directly on to social media has certainly drawn even more attention to them. Anyone who shares those awful scenes is almost as evil as the perpetrators.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 10:43:22

Jura2, of course he's a terrorist !! What's your problem ? The whites are worse when it comes to acts of violence like this because they're not on " risk lists ".

I'll thank you to stop causing trouble !!

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 10:45:37

Madman/Terrorist-----aren't they the same ?

Aepgirl Fri 15-Mar-19 10:50:55

I despair for this world of ours. Why can’t people live in harmony and respect each other?

jura2 Fri 15-Mar-19 10:51:23

Because this is how Trump talks, and the gutter press, and all manner of people.

Whenever something like this happens - the reaction is always the same. Brown and Muslim = Terrorist first, White and Ult Right = a madman first, sort of Terrorist.

One NZ Politician has even tweeted that it's dreadful but we must understand the fears of the locals because of the Muslim presence (word to that effect).

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 10:59:11

It's YOU who's pointed this out Jura2-----nobody else !

I'm just appalled at the hatred and violence that this monster carried out-------regardless of colour creed or religion, so what is your point towards me particularly ??

Anniebach Fri 15-Mar-19 10:59:17

This is not ‘one man’, everyone who has agreed with him, defended him, supported him, are guilty

1inamillion Fri 15-Mar-19 11:05:01

This is very sad and shocking news. I extend my deepest sympathy to the families of those killed and injured in Christchurch.

Our friend's daughter is a doctor in Christchurch and married to a New Zealander. Our own DD has stayed in Christchurch and says how welcoming and friendly people were. So sad.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 11:08:19

Anniebach this was all organised on his twitter account so there'll be quite a few who will have to be tracked down in Australia, but his actual accomplice's were two men and a woman, one man lives in Dunedin NZ.
Of course, guilty by association. Hundreds probably.

BlueBelle Fri 15-Mar-19 11:16:54

The shock continues Tommy robinson supporters are posting things like ‘job welll done’ and ‘best news I ve woken up to’
I feel physically sick reading this

I'd like to say that I do not think that Queensland senator Fraser Anning does not represent the views of the majority of decent Queenslanders - he is a racist whose views are extremely controversial and under investigation for another matter too.
Scott Morrison said Mr Anning was 'associating himself with extreme and offensive racist views that have no place in our society'.

Nannyme Fri 15-Mar-19 11:26:13

I think a very telling remark by a reporter was that someone had likened it to a video game, the internet has a lot to account for and the quicker legislation to clean it up the better, but violence on line has to be closely monitored. I think someone mentioned that a video game was related to the stabbings in that you got points if you stabbed and killed someone, what a horrible era we live in.

Jalima1108 Fri 15-Mar-19 11:27:24

Sorry, a double negative in my post above - I do not think that he represents the views of the majority of decent Queenslanders

before anyone who is concerned with pedantry picks me up on that.

sunseeker Fri 15-Mar-19 11:31:10

This coward was able to stream the attack online whilst it was happening. A presenter on local radio has just given a wonderful speech stating that it is time everyone stood up and took the "social" media giants to task. He said it is time they took some responsibility for what is broadcast. He was much more eloquent than I. He even suggested everyone shut down their Facebook/Twitter etc accounts and start living in the real world. I have to say I find myself agreeing with him.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 11:35:39

Yes Nannyme, the internet has been and remains to be a breeding ground for cowards.

The most frightening thing is nobody knows these types of terrorists.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 11:38:00

We do need a Big Brother monitoring the internet.

maryeliza54 Fri 15-Mar-19 11:40:02

And of course Boris ‘letterbox’ Johnson has completely clean hands just as does Zac ‘ racist campaign for Mayor’ Goldsmith

NannyC2 Fri 15-Mar-19 11:41:44

Chewbacca: Your Q..What is happening in the world. When will all the violence and anger end.

Answer: Only when the Lord returns to root out the devil once and for all........which He will.
We are living in the end times when Satan is wreaking his worst. So many have turned away from God and his teachings. We need to pray more for peace and love and restore morals.

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 11:48:36

I agree sunseeker------I've never had accounts for either facebook or twitter, all I have is an email account. I don't even use the skype that I have.

Why would people need these accounts anyway ?? What's wrong in phoning people to get in touch, or emailing ?

EllanVannin Fri 15-Mar-19 11:52:29

Satan is the internet NannyC2. The Devil at its worst.

Izabella Fri 15-Mar-19 11:55:00
