Words you don't like (light hearted)

"Invite" when used as something you get or send. It's an IVITATION, for heavens sake, "invite" is what you do, NOT what you send!

I hate Periods, tumour, absolutely, incredible, porn.
I love Autumnal. (See above - I pressed post too soon).

I love Autumnal. I use it every day in Autumn to describe chilly weather - it annoys my husband like mad!

Diarrhoea - ugh.

Showcasing - especially when applied to photos of 'celebrities' that are almost unknown to most of us and seem to involve them having large amounts of their body hanging out of clothing (or perhaps they have suffered a malfunction in the washing machine resulting in their clothes shrinking!) Babymama also irritates me - when my daughter had my eldest grandson the 'in' phrase was 'Earth mother' - you would think having babies was something quite new in the history of mankind!

Dislike any swear words, had a sheltered upbringing! Also

Not just a word, but a phrase which drives me nuts - "On a daily basis".....what pray is wrong with "every day"!!!!!!!???????

The word beginning with H which means uncontrolled bleeding. Can't even bring myself to type it let alone say it. (not sure how to spell it either) Please don't anyone type it out in full, I may faint.

What does annoy me is that people commonly use 'on the floor' when they mean 'on the ground'. Floors are indoors; the ground is outdoors. I don't know where this change of use came from, but it seems to be of fairly recent origin.

Belly, unless used to describe a cut of pork, as tummy of pork would just sound silly.

Like:
Halcyon - it's a Kingfisher.
Lollop - to move in an ungainly fashion (hares often lollop)
Callipygian - having beautifully rounded buttocks
Deliquesce - to gradually rot into liquid, as bodies do.

Don't like
Many of the words stated by others, plus.
Crepuscule - the name of one of the gorgeous roses in my garden which does not deserve such a nasty-sounding word. It means dusk or twilight.
Crapulous - overcome with alcohol which in turn may lead to ....

A whole phrase - "putting our own stamp on it" in property programmes.

Cannot stand being called 'hun', or this thing when people are buying a house and they simply must have a 'snug'.

On the other hand I rather like 'moist', it conjures up all sorts.
'Frock', lovely old fashioned word, and to join in with the 'Sl' words, love the word 'Slither'.

I don't mind being called Sis by my sister, there's only the two of us. Usually I'm Big Sis and she's Little Sis - sizes are immaterial, but what I can't stand is the instructions on cooking that we have to make sure the food is 'piping hot' !!
What century are we in for God's sake ? A temperature reading is surely the way to go.

I think pregnant is an ugly sounding word.

I hate Hubby, overly, majorly, 110 percent, like, hun, basically, babe (used for another adult), horseriding, horsebackriding!!.

I think I have ‘favourite’ words for a while, then discard them in favour of my new words. Recently I’ve liked ‘equidistant’ and ‘dispiriting’.

Words I don’t like are ‘soulmate’ (ugh) and ‘remoaners’ (disrespectful).
