...a card and chocolates from Funky Pigeon, and they had duplicated the order, would you send the second lot of choccies back?

Catterygirl Tue 12-Mar-19 15:45:56

I don't like chocolate.

Jalima1108 Sun 10-Mar-19 23:00:16

faulty not fault

and I was referring to the chocolates grin

Jalima1108 Sun 10-Mar-19 22:59:35

Willow we ordered two bedside cabinets which needed assembling, one arrived without the plinth. We asked for a plinth, but the firm sent us another cabinet and did not want to take back the fault one - it looked fine without the plinth anyway so we used it in the single bedroom.

Well, you can't send them back if you've eaten them grin

I would eat them, phone the company explain their mistake and tell them how delicious the chocolates are as I couldn't resist, and would they like me to pay for them?

Last year I ordered two cases of wine from M&S (2 cases of 6 bottles). The delivery man left only one case so I rang M&S and explained. They apologised and said they would send another. The next day a case of wine was delivered and the day after that another one arrived. What had actually happened was that the delivery man forgot to give me the second case while making the first delivery so returned the next morning with it. The replacement case arrived the day after. I phoned M&S to tell them and they told me to keep the replacement wine. Happy days!

Eat them and enjoy grin

Oh dear I feel bad now . years ago I sent for high toilet seat and they sent two ! I kept them as and took one to my caravan . naughty me.

Aepgirl Sun 10-Mar-19 12:44:11

I’ve never heard of any company wanting damaged items returned. They sometimes want a photo of the item, but what would they do with damaged chocolates? Hope you enjoy them, and don’t go anywhere near the scales!

Although recently(last december) i ordered £85 worth of toys from Lego online.it was ages coming and i needed it for before visit to GC.so i rang them& they said theyd send whole order again express post. But i had to return original order when it arrived- (i printed a free post label) i included my details and they advised if i still wanted easter bunny huts i should keep those as they had none left.i did and sent all rest back.i asked what to do if i wanted to return any items for refund- they assured me not a problem- theyd know what its about etc.So in end i returned one lego set back separately in a different box with a printout of email and circled item, saying id like a refund.this dragged on a bit.then a lego employee rang ( from denmark) saying he'd do refund(it wasnt cheap item) it never got done.i asked paypal they made it worse by asking for whole £85 back.it dragged on emailing, calling, etc till last week when i was told id get refund for item.and i still dont know if its gone through or not!! Wish id never bothered!

I won a pair of shoes and they sent the parcel out twice. I phoned and explained and the company told me to keep both pairs. Honestly is the best policy imo

Nannan2 Sun 10-Mar-19 11:38:55

Yes id definately eat them grintheres no proof you havent sent them.id feign stupidity and say "oh i thought id just pop them in post box as theyre already damaged"?

allsortsofbags Sun 10-Mar-19 11:28:54

Keep the chocolates and enjoy :-)

Hollydoilly10 Sun 10-Mar-19 11:28:36

I would let them know what happened and ask them what they would like you to do.
I expect they will say to keep them, in any case they should send you the cost of the postage to return them if they ask.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 10-Mar-19 11:25:22

Gonegirl If you like me have a conscience grin!then I would contact the seller They will either tell you to keep it , no charge. or if they want it returned then ask them for a prepaid label. It was not your fault it was theirs that you received two.

henetha Sun 10-Mar-19 11:09:00

I did once receive a duplicate order from Amazon,
and when I contacted them they thanked me for my
honesty and told me to keep both.
I've still got one of them which I have never used.

lemongrove Sun 10-Mar-19 11:04:47

Nothing to see here! ( said through a chocolate-y mouth’)

Seriously, no I wouldn’t bother sending them back.
Most of the time, companies don’t want the hassle of arranging the collection and tell you to keep it anyway.

I ordered some fruit trees a few years back and they duplicated the order. They weren't interested in receiving the trees back so I gave them to a friend!

Some years ago I had an online delivery from Tesco, and as well as my frugal order, they delivered a couple of dozen very luxurious ready meals.
I telephoned to explain, and they said “Sorry Madam, please keep them with our compliments.”
I was so thrilled because I was very hard up and my young daughter and I had been eating very dull food, and were glad of a little luxury!

Jaycee5 Sun 10-Mar-19 10:50:26

I won a competition which they sent to me with a parcel that was obviously intended for someone else as it had a 'thank you for all your help' card in it. I emailed them because I didn't want him not to get his thank you gift. They told me to keep it.
I'm not sure thought that I would bother for an extra box of chocolates when they had already been difficult. Do whatever will let you sleep at night.

On returning home from shopping one day two years ago one of my friends discovered a large tumble dryer had been wrongfully delivered to her address. She made enquires with her neighbours but nobody had ordered it.
She had her son put it in the shed while she waited for who ever had sent it to realise their mistake and get in touch. Months went by and nothing!
She’s using it now and no one has ever contacted her to enquire about it!

We ordered a flatpack chest of drawers - all went well until the final drawer when we discovered they'd sent two sides the same hand so we couldn't assemble it. I rang the company and they said they'd send a replacement part which didn't arrive. I rang them again 2 weeks later and was again told they'd send the spare part. Next day a whole new pack arrived - it was obviously easier for them to ship a new unit than try to find the actual part. After keeping the duplicate for ages we finally put it together and husband mended the drawer.

Not long ago I ordered a lovely scarf - not cheap - online
It was wrapped in that thin plastic, and evidently the plastic had stuck together, plus whoever picked it up was in a hurry, since 3 arrived! (still vaguely stuck together).

I wondered at first whether it was my mistake, but no, the order form said just one.

So I sent the other 2 back (freepost) only I forgot to include the form to say why you're returning the items.

Once I'd realised (found the form among the mass/mess of papers on my 'desk', i.e. dining room table) I phoned the co. to explain. However they'd already 'refunded' me for the two I hadn't paid for! I suggested a de-refund but they said no, evidently too much faff, and told me to keep it.

Presumably good customer relations - it's still my favourite co. for online clothes shopping.

Gonegirl Sat 09-Mar-19 14:42:41

Yes please!

KatyK Sat 09-Mar-19 14:41:47

Would you like a glass of gin to go with them? We have a new bottle, bought and paid for!
