One of our grand dogs has been PTS this morning. He was 10 and his heart was giving up. He was my sons dog, we always looked after him when the family went away. He leaves behind a brother (not related) and 2 very upset children.
I've not realized how much he was also a big part of our lives as well.

I won't scoff! When my German Shepherd died, for a good few months I could 'feel' the weight of her putting her head on my knee, while I was watching tv, as she had always done.
Three months later an ex girlfriend of my Son 's, who I had well and truly fallen out with when he found out that she had been two timing him.
Any way, she rings my son and, strangely, asks him what my Mum was called as she's been to a Spiritulist Church and had been told that there was a lady here with a beautiful German Shepherd at her side, they told her that the lady wasn't for her but someone who she knew. The dog was called Jen or Jim, my dog was Gem, they said the dog wants to tell it's life long friend to stop being so sad as she was safe and happy and would see me again one day.
The lady who was next to the dog was called Mary or Marie, my Mother pronounced her name Mari.
The girlfriend said she had wondered if she should pass the message to me, as the last time I saw her, I told her I'd never speak to her again. She offered me a recording of it all but I told my son that I believed her.
Strange but true!

It is so hard to lose a pet. They become part of the family, don't they, and it hurts so much when they leave us.

Sorry to read of your son's loss Nanawind.
