Lonely: One Week On!

To any who were kind enough to answer my 'Lonely' post last Sunday and PM me with lovely messages and offers of friendship.
Well, I just thank you all....
I read them all through again, Sunday evening and thought, "Come on Bam, get your act together."
I'm writing this, not only to let you know about my week but I'm hoping it may inspire all the others who felt the same last week.
So, on Monday morning I went shopping for the most delicious, healthy food, no stodge, no cakes, no chocolate.
Tuesday morning, hairdressers, where she asked are you having the usual and I said no, I would like a choppy cut and blonde high and low lights.
Have absolutely "bottomed" my house, not in a frantic way but in a relaxed way with my favourite CD 's playing.
Bought myself a new skin serum and a lovely moisturizer and spent time in the shower every day and getting myself ready, with relaxing music playing in the bedroom.
Been to my classes and just got on with it, without worrying if anyone spoke to me, everyone did!
I'm in contact with a lovely GN by PM and we really 'get ' each other.
Contacted my oldest friend in Australia, who I normally ring every few months and when she happily asked how I was, said, "Great!..........Well actually, I've been feeling a bit sad and lonely the last few days," she told me, that she very often felt extremely lonely and this woman is so ' together' it's not true. So we've decided to FaceTime once a week and I've arranged to go over for about a month next year.
I'm going to join more 'things ' and do more things and I'm definately going to the next Meetup Curry Night and Quiz night!
As an aside, while I was in the hairdressers, one of the little juniors, who I was chatting with, said, "Oh, you're so funny Bam, everyone loves it when you come in!"
And you know what, I am funny, and kind, and caring and a nice person.
So I deserve to treat myself as kindly as I treat others.

What a lovely post Bambam, gives me hope and inspiration to get out and about.
Keep up the good work ?

Bambam - your story helped me today as I’m struggling a bit. Too many things to do and not enough energy. I think looking after yourself in basic ways is empowering so I’m going to have a shower and put on some slap and clear my bedroom for the decorators to be able to start in two days.

Well done Bam, very practical and uplifting post.

Yorkshiregirl Mon 04-Mar-19 10:58:33

Oh wow I so love your post Bam ! I'm so pleased for you as you are obviously a lovely kind and upbeat person, who just needed an ear or two and some direction.
Lots of us are feeling exactly the same my love, and I sometimes get frustrated because I am a kind loyal friend but thiz is not always appreciated.
I am however good at giving myself a good kick up the backside, and being proactive in making things happen. My most recent is to become an event organiser for Meetup.
Although I think I am ki d to myself I have realised I can expect too much of myself, and be over critical...so I must work on that.
Good luck, and thanks for brightening my day x

Bambam, yes you should treat yourself kindly and be very proud of yourself for taking so many positive steps - I'm sure it will inspire many of us that hit low and lonely spells in our lives, so thank you. Have a great time when you go to Australia - do all the things you always wanted to ;) flowers

Missed your earlier post but this sound lovely, enjoy it all!

Well done, love the positive attitude. I've been so lucky in the last few years, new area, new friends, new groups to meet up with. I do have a positive attitude but there are always some "down" days. Great to have a new hairstyle, gives an instant lift. flowers

I’m sorry to have missed your original post but I am glad the responses have found you a new friend and inspired you to take action on all the things you have described in just one week. Very well done and onwards and upwards.

Way to go girl!! Believe in yourself - it sounds as if you have such a great deal to offer.

Gingergirl Mon 04-Mar-19 10:38:05

Well done! And glad you’re feeling great...and now the trick is to master the ‘downs’ when they inevitably show up...I’m sure you will!?

Gonegirl Mon 04-Mar-19 10:04:08

That's amazing Bambam. It's the kind of thing I see myself doing when I wake up in the early morning, but it's all gone out of the door by ten. (without me)

Bambam Sun 03-Mar-19 16:34:14

Just a bit! ?

Charleygirl5 Sun 03-Mar-19 16:32:56

Bambam I live in London, slightly too far away!

Bambam Sun 03-Mar-19 16:29:49

Thanks for all your replies, I feel as though I have had two dozen pats on the back.
It's amazing how the goodness and caring of people you've never met can change the way you feel.
Not only the ones who commented on here but the many who PM'd me asking where I live to see if perhaps we could meet up.
I live on the outskirts of Greater Manchester Charleygirl and amazingly there isn't a GN Meet up for Manchester, you're right, I should start one myself.
