Going Naked (or nearly)

So, is it tied in to how near 'perfect' our bodies are?
I'm almost ashamed to say that for me, its all about having a big belly.
I know it shouldn't matter..

Who would want to see my body? I’ve seen too many naked or partially covered ‘ugly’ bodies on the beach, spa, etc, to want to add to the sights!

Can't say I have any hang-ups and am ok with nakedness when necessary or appropriate. However, here was I thinking I was doing ok for my age until elder GC, in the swimming pool changing room asked 'why are your boobs away down there?' I answered and she simply moved on to the next bit of frivolity in her lovely head. Always makes me smile. Love it. It's still a leveller though.

Maybe if we were all more accepting of our own bodies, we would encourage young people to be accepting of theirs. I think it is sad that the natural parts of ageing like sagginess, etc is seen to be so unattractive that it has to be covered up.

Bodies are just what's needed to carry 'us' around..

Not at all bothered. Skinny dip in Greece but only in private. Why lie in a wet swimsuit when you can be dry in minutes? Skinny dipped for charity last year in the Big North East Skinny Dip and it was such good fun. All shapes and sizes and good for kids to realise we all look different and it doesn’t matter.

Me again. Walked out of my bathroom this morning, starkers (I live alone!) into my bedroom, curtains open, to be faced by 2 men trimming a tree on the railway embankment at the end of my garden. They didn’t give me marks out of ten!

Not bothered. It’s only flesh,fat,bone but mainly water in different proportions.
I’m presuming there are no ghost writers here!

Went to Turkish baths on holiday with sons girlfriend. I felt very embarrassed as I am large but everyone was naked.
Funny I never felt awkward with new man as he loves big women!

Not comfortable with anyone seeing me naked, never have been. I was an only child and we simply never walked around naked at home. School showers at senior school had pink curtains with fishes on and we were expected to enter in our underclothes and then hang them over the bar while we showered and then dry off and put underclothes back on before we came out. Sounds odd when I read it back but it worked for me. We have not been the sort of family who undress in front of our children, no judgements here but it's just how we are. At the gym I always use the changing cubicle. My friends don't care what I do and I don't care if they are perfectly at ease chatting to me without their clothes on. Live and let live I suppose.

Exactly the same for me.
I can only think of 2 or 3 times I saw my dad without his shirt on (although he always wore a vest)

Although there was just us two, my daughter and me never went naked indoors.

We did used to bath together when she was quite small. (Just remembered that!)

I wouldn't want to traumatise anyone.

Aepgirl I can go one better! Walked out of our en suite bathroom one morning, starkers, to find the decorator working on the damp patch under the window!!! Not sure who was more embarrased - DH had told him it was OK to go into our bedroom

Otherwise I'm comfortable with DH (don't wear anything in bed!) seeing me naked, after all we've been married for 37 years and his figure isn't as good as it once was! A friend and I were only commenting the other day that it's always the body less beautiful types who strip off on the beach!!! But we should be proud of our bodies - they're amazing creations and most of us on here have produced children so that's amazing too even if it does leave our bodies a bit battered

A size ten I wore a bikini in my fifties.I could never bare all and felt embarrassed in front of the' seen it all before ' medical profession.

I'm perfectly comfortable being naked when alone with DH, or in the ladies' changing rooms at the swimming baths.

When I was a child we were often naked at bath time or bed time in the presence of our parents or nursemaid, but never in front of others.

If my adult son catches a glimpse of me naked, or I of him, we don't worry about it, but we don't bath together or sunbathe nude. DIL? well she's a woman, so I wouldn't mind her catching a glimpse of me in my birthday suit, but DH be mortified if he saw her naked, or she him.

We wear night clothes when there are children staying in the house, but not otherwise.

Obviously, a nurse would have to see me naked if the day comes when I need help bathing or dressing. I can't imagine when a doctor would need to see one completely naked, except at a post mortem.

I don't like wearing clothes. Never have.
Doesn't bother my OH, he's used to it but nobody else sees me naked.

I remember a quite excruciatingly embarrassing spa visit with my sister, when the woman said "Right, if you could just give me your towels now, then you can both pop into the shower..."
I didn't do it, but it caused quite an uncomfortable, low key type of stand off scene.

Also embarrassed at the Turkish bath when 2 large naked women attendants proceeded to soap and scrub me.?

Also remember the local guide who insisted on looking after our wallets and passports as he said those women in there would steal them!
