IN THE BIN

The thousands of car drivers who drive with headlights blazing on all day long, even on the clearest, sunniest day.....
I mean why?!

Marydoll These days when people fail to acknowledge polite gestures - holding doors open, stepping aside on narrow pavements, etc. - I turn to them and say “you're welcome” in a loud voice. Petty I know, but perhaps next time they will remember their manners. Sometimes they turn and mutter 'sorry', sometimes they totally ignore, sometimes there seems to be a chastened scuttle, but that might be wishful thinking on my part!

lemon i cant turn my lights off - theg are called something like 'daylight running lights'.

trendygran Thu 28-Feb-19 17:37:24

Agree with you Marydoll.

sassenach512 Thu 28-Feb-19 17:50:09

lemon my Volvo's lights are permanently on, lots of car manufacturers do this, I suppose I never have to worry about being seen on a murky day ☺️

Drivers who enter the yellow box when their exit isn't clear then block my lane of traffic when the lights change (every morning Monday to friday), drivers who indicate but cut you up anyway and don't wait to be let in, drivers who don't acknowledge when you let them out/through, drivers who push the nose of their car into traffic from side streets hoping I'll let them in,eh no, had you sat there nicely I would but now you've pushed you can do one (I have become an angry driver). People who don't say thank you when you open doors/offer seats/move out of the way. People who spit OMG I hate that with a passion it is disgusting. People who cycle on the path and expect pedestrians to move, cyclists who sit in middle of lane holding everyone up then go through red lights because they do not apply to them. People who let their dogs off lead then are unable to control them when they are jumping all over my dog. People who say /treat service people with no respect "can I get", "want a burger" etc no please thank you. Parents who let their children run round in shops touching displays/stock just keep the little darlings under control. Hmmm think old age is making me much less tolerant of bad manners grin

Merlotgran and I must buy the same bleach - needed a screwdriver and pliers to open it.

Litterbugs

Passengers on the bus who (a)sit on the seat by the gangway or (b) use a seat for their shopping both of whom seem to resent having to clear a seat for me.

People with rucksacks. They swing them off their backs, swing them back on, oblivious to anyone in their range. Rucksacks on backs are just the right height for hitting me in the face.

Pancake Day - it's Shrove Tuesday. Mother's day - it's Mothering Sunday

Finally KIDS. Kids are young goats, for heaven's sake.

Stopping at the bottom of an escalator has reminded me of travelling down an escalator on the London Underground a few years ago. A woman put her suitcase down beside her, then looked at her phone transfixed. Saw disaster coming at the bottom of the escalator so made sure I fell into her rather than tripping over her case at the bottom. My language was rather colourful.

Did she take a selfie of the pair of you, though? smile

smokers, drunks, druggies, animal abusers, layabout benefit cheats

The relentless feminist/LGBT topics on Woman’s Hour.

Before the brickbats are thrown at me I am all for equality, I’m not homophobic, but there are no longer any light hearted topics.

lemongrove Thu 28-Feb-19 19:56:29

kitty and sassenach yes, I know that Volvo cars are made that way ( presumably for dim misty Swedish weather) grin
But not every car is like that, and I have seen my own make of car with headlights on ( so some drivers must simply be in the habit of switching lights on.)

Have thought of another one, shop managers/assistants telling me ‘there is no call for it’ ( whatever item I am asking for) when I am actually calling for it!

farview Thu 28-Feb-19 21:02:05

...right now!!! My H!!!!.....

kittylester Thu 28-Feb-19 21:16:23

I don't have a Volvo. Mine is a Mazda but also my Honda and my Toyota had them too. They are proved to reduce pedestrian/car accidents.

shirleyhick Thu 28-Feb-19 21:17:40

People not cleaning up after their dogs I own 2 dogs and always clean up after them it makes me so mad when people don't I have even offered them a bag but usually get a dirty look or ignored.

BradfordLass72 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:23:32

I don't really hate anything but one or two things irritate me.

Inspired by another Forum subject, I get annoyed by women's lack of knowledge about their own bodies and how many think the vagina is what we euphemistically call 'front bottom' and sometimes shave.

This is the vulva (or Mound of Venus in the quaint old-fashioned term). The vagina is internal.

One of my students recently said she was shaving her vagina so she could have a piercing ! smile
We got out an anatomy book and looked at what she really meant.

Mamma66 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:30:07

Oh yes, I can relate to this, just about to buy my fourth Mercedes. Unbelievable how many idiots decide they will race you away from the lights in their 1.2 hot hatch when I am driving a car with 3.2 litre engine. It really isn’t a test of your manhood! Nine times out of ten I let them rip the guts of their car out whilst I gently pootle off, but every so often I let them have it by allowing them to thrash the bits off their car and then gracefully glide past (the only time I ever achieve grace these days!) ?

Nanny41 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:44:36

Too many to put in the bin I need a bigger bin!

Mamma66 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:44:43

I would also like to add people who are unkind or impatient . I would actually live to take out Tyne legs of people who ‘tut’, role their eyes or show any other sign of impatience at supermarket checkouts. Yes they’re boring. No, I don’t want to be there either, but making sarcastic gestures or comments to an elderly person who is ‘being too slow’ in your opinion, or the Mum trying to soothe a crotchety baby; there’s no need for it. I hate it...

sassenach512 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:45:20

I've thought of some more: shop assistants who pounce on me as soon as I walk through the door asking me what I'm looking for today... leave me alone I want to browse first. Same with waitresses who want to take my order when I've barely sat down and taken my coat off. People who picnic on the beach and leave all their rubbish behind.

Mamma66 Thu 28-Feb-19 21:45:43

Can I also add autocorrect!!!

sassenach512 Thu 28-Feb-19 22:03:52

shirleyhick I did the same thing on our beach when I saw a couple leave their dog's mess behind, the woman got so aggressive that I'd had the temerity to offer her a bag, it almost came to fisticuffs! People just don't like being urged to clean up after their dogs, undaunted though, I will continue to take these selfish, thoughtless owners to task when I see them do it, if I can clean up after my dog, they can ☺️

Nanna58 Thu 28-Feb-19 22:23:04

Damn rude joggers who never say thanks, or, if too puffed, raise a hand, when my dogs and I move aside for them on the pavement!

Lumarei Fri 01-Mar-19 00:00:51

What’s wrong with coat hangers? confused

Bellanonna Fri 01-Mar-19 07:57:25

They get tangled up in each other Lumarei, but usually only when i’m trying to remove a particular item, then that’s the one caught up in its neighbour.
