Football pundits on TV say ' He done well' instead of 'He did well'. Ian Wright I'm talking about you in particular!

Helennonotion Thu 28-Feb-19 11:34:59

People who start almost every sentence with - "I'm not being funny but"......It usually means they are about to say something rude or personal, but they think by stating "they aren't being funny" beforehand makes it all ok!

Milly Thu 28-Feb-19 11:30:32

Ha ha Gillybob you remind me of my mother who used to do that. I tried it with s fizzy drink grin and - you've guessed it, it went everywhere shock

gillyjp Thu 28-Feb-19 11:27:23

Boy racers when you are side by side with them at traffic lights. You can hear their engines revving (along with their inflated egos). I have a powerful car and could probably take them on but do I? Nope I just catch them up at the next set of traffic lights or pedestrian crossing.

Jessity Thu 28-Feb-19 11:26:14

Along with the idiots whose indicators don't work, I'd add those morons who are in a right-turn only lane but still indicate.

What else were you planning to do I shout.

And all politicians - they couldn't organise a p**s up in a brewery.

LIARS

Oh I always thought it was the late Margaret Thatcher who was to blame for less icing on Mr Kiplings cakes Nannyyelhappyo ....along with shrinking Mars Bars, the weather and every other world problem wink

MargaretinNorthant Thu 28-Feb-19 11:11:46

messages after I have bought something asking how pleased I am with it. Thank you, I was ecstatic about my hearing aid batteries!!

Nannyelhappyo Thu 28-Feb-19 11:10:47

People who blame immigrants for everything from world peace to less icing on Mr Kiplings cakes!

Witzend Thu 28-Feb-19 11:09:53

So many of these.

Plus, 'there is' with a plural. It's everywhere and it really irritates me.

I have to take issue with the library and internet lessons for older people, though. I used to work in a library and believe it or not even a few years ago there were plenty who hadn't a clue.

Outside the actual lessons they ran now and then, we would help them if we had time - sometimes people needed an email address for something and didn't know where to start.

And I still remember the old chap who must have been 80+, who came in with a newspaper cutting with a website about something he was very interested in.

He had never even touched a computer before, but I showed him the basics, how to click on something, go back, etc.,- he took to it immediately and went off very chuffed, saying he was going to buy a computer straight away!

Sadly many were not nearly so quick to learn, or wouldn't listen. There was a woman who wanted to set up email, and proposed a very complicated password which she refused to write down, although I emphasised that she would have to enter it exactly or it wouldn't work.

Lo, once the email was supposedly set up - I sat with her for ages - she couldn't remember it exactly, so it wouldn't work.

She had to start again - on her own - it wasn't a formal lesson and I had other stuff to do..

1inamillion - just when I had dutifully heaved my OH out of the bin, you have put him back in!

1inamillion Thu 28-Feb-19 10:53:44

Drivers who only look left when turning right at a junction.
People who don't listen.
Mums who let their buggies hang out into the road when attempting to cross - they are safe on the pavement while their toddlers are in harm's way.
Husbands with selective hearing.

sroge Thu 28-Feb-19 10:53:06

People who say "I'm not going to lie" before they tell you something. Makes me think is that what they usually do then? Aaarrrgghhh!

Aepgirl Thu 28-Feb-19 10:51:43

Cyclists who won’t use the cycle lanes that have been put in for them, at enormous expense

Amagran Thu 28-Feb-19 10:50:35

Oh no! Oldgaijin - you have just put my OH in the bin!!

TerryM Thu 28-Feb-19 10:50:18

Really detest being called "hun"
Peeved that being of a certain age means you have no technological knowledge at all.
Our local library
"Coding for 10 -12 years old "
"Learning email and surfing the net for our senior citizens " !!!!

Boolya Thu 28-Feb-19 10:47:46

Side lights on cars - they are of no earthly use, yet are often the only lights, if any, turned on in the fog; so add to that drivers who don't use lights in the fog. Oh yes, and those whose cars haven't been fitted with indicators.

Rmsusieb Thu 28-Feb-19 10:37:31

Oh so many of these are just what I would have written and they made me smile but I think Juliette’s post about the vandalising toddler and his very rude mother really resonated. These people are the dregs of society - what will that child be vandalising when he’s older?
Also the smokers taking over the seating areas outside places that mean non smokers can’t comfortably sit outside when it’s warm although I know that there are places, probably with a double frontage, who have one side as non smoking which is good (unless the wind’s in the wrong direction! ?)
Definitely the dog owners who don’t clean up after their dog.
Probably my iPad which is stopping me from doing my ironing right now.
Definitely clothes that need ironing! (That is most of them!!)

EEJit Thu 28-Feb-19 10:32:43

Politicians, every last one of them of all parties

Sheilasue Thu 28-Feb-19 10:30:10

Moaning dh bin him.

Annaram1 Thu 28-Feb-19 10:29:16

Frankly, I love being called "love" or even "my lover." I lived in Dorset for nearly 30 years and thought it sweet to be someone's lover. In Devon they say "love." Why take offence? I lived in South Africa and people didn't say it there. And its not an age thing either. I was called those sweet names when I was still in my 30s and 40s. I seem to recall that the Government once proposed outlawing people saying "love" and there was an outcry. I once called somebody "Sweetheart" when they called me "love" and I felt so stupid that I never said it again.
As for men in shorts - it depends on their legs. If they have nicely shaped muscular calves I like them. Not if they are skinny and too white though.

rascal Thu 28-Feb-19 10:26:31

Cyclists who hug the road, usually a few from a cycle club where there is a perfectly good cycle lane to the left of them! They hold up the traffic and have the cheek to wave you on to pass them on a blind bend! I feel like shouting to them 'cycle path' but it may sound to them like psychopath! angry

Applegran Thu 28-Feb-19 10:24:57

A friend of mine said yesterday over a cup of tea, that she'd read a book which helped her when someone does something she doesn't like. She reminds herself it is not about her, any more than when it rains, and she had planned a picnic. She feels better if she just says to herself "It's not my business" and lets it go. I thought it was a great way to look at it - will work on it myself.

Hollydoilly10 Thu 28-Feb-19 10:19:42

Spitting

JanaNana Thu 28-Feb-19 10:13:07

Men who wear those baggy calf length type of shorts during the summer .....no no no, they just look like overgrown toddlers.
