I have lifted this brief report from the Beeb newsfeed
"Nigel Farage has won the Clacton by-election, which was boycotted by other major Westminster parties
Farage won 22,239 votes, with Count Binface in second with 9,455 votes
The contest was triggered when the Reform UK leader resigned as an MP last month, in order to have a by-election he would stand in, Farage made the announcement while under investigation for a £5m gift he didn't declare
He didn't attend the result declaration in person, with Reform saying police advised against it
- the BBC understands that is not the case
"I am damned if I am going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory... and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies," Farage told supporters before the result was confirmed
Turnout was 44.37%
So what has Farage gained from this farce?
Personally, I shall turn to Macbeth....
"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more.
It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing
Since now he is an MP the investigations will resume.
