So many of these.
Plus, 'there is' with a plural. It's everywhere and it really irritates me.
I have to take issue with the library and internet lessons for older people, though. I used to work in a library and believe it or not even a few years ago there were plenty who hadn't a clue.
Outside the actual lessons they ran now and then, we would help them if we had time - sometimes people needed an email address for something and didn't know where to start.
And I still remember the old chap who must have been 80+, who came in with a newspaper cutting with a website about something he was very interested in.
He had never even touched a computer before, but I showed him the basics, how to click on something, go back, etc.,- he took to it immediately and went off very chuffed, saying he was going to buy a computer straight away!
Sadly many were not nearly so quick to learn, or wouldn't listen. There was a woman who wanted to set up email, and proposed a very complicated password which she refused to write down, although I emphasised that she would have to enter it exactly or it wouldn't work.
Lo, once the email was supposedly set up - I sat with her for ages - she couldn't remember it exactly, so it wouldn't work.
She had to start again - on her own - it wasn't a formal lesson and I had other stuff to do..
