I had another MRI scan today. I am not sure why but I am guided by my consultant and oncologist.

Even if the cancer is in your lymph glands you can still enjoy many more happy years with MacSporran, soop they are very clever these days and breast cancer is not the killer it was. Everyone is unique also so the treatments are all different. I have been given medication and do not expect a mastectomy until the summer. At the moment mine is inoperable.

Ann dementia is indeed a cruel illness. I have found, however, that it affects each person differently and they also change as it advances. Maybe this is just a phase your DH is going through. It is a good suggestion to ask the carers how he is when you are not there. If he is more settled it might be better to go a little less frequently. But you have to do what you feel you need to.

Manissimo that is indeed irritating. I hope they have turned up now.

ann I agree with the advice you've received from N&G and Doodle together with your other Granspals. I am so sad that you are having to deal with this tragic, ongoing, soul-destroying illness. We are all here to support you in whatever way we can.

I'm about to search on-line for a couple of decent, unwired, cotton bras. One of the team will be at hand to help me choose a suitable prostheses.
The cancer is Lobular and kicked off in the milk lobules. It has since migrated and become a 5cm lump with additional markers surrounding it. I breast fed my three sons. I won't need the breast to "perform" from hereon.
Providing the lymph glands are cancer free at the time of the surgery, I shall have a very good chance of continuing to enjoy life with MacSporran

If it’s nursing,then you should get help with the fees

ann ask the staff what your DH is like when you are not there. Being tearful when he sees you may not mean he is upset all the time. This horrid illness causes so much pain for all concerned. You must consider yourself in all this and it is not wrong of you to consider the cost of travelling either. You have to look after yourself and making sure you have enough money to live on is part of that. Please be kind to yourself, you have suffered enough. I will leave a large and a slice of cake for you when you feel like it.

its grey here but cant really complain. In the big picture of life we're doing ok !!

Ann from my point of view, if your DH is upset when you visit and doesn't really know how often you go,, I think I would go less. He is being well cared for and now you have to think more about yourself I feel.

Manissimo that would annoy me too!! It was a worry when we moved due to the volume of workmen we needed in various trades but maybe its because these are all rural guys, not big city ones but they turned up promptly and worked their socks off in terrible weather sometimes. So I hope you gave your guys a rocket and no cuppas !!!

ann it does not sound bad at all. You, like the rest of us are no longer 29 years of age and you need some rest. You also have to factor in the cost of travelling but not stinting either.

Oh dear, that sounds so bad.

As I said, a difficult and upsetting situation.

Dull day again in Stockport.
Molly has the all clear now from the vet and can go out again but she prefers in with me since I left her for 5 days.
My H has started to be very tearful when I visit, it is very upsetting for us both.
My S went with me yesterday and he was very emotional again.
I am going again this afternoon and I will see if he is any better.
A real dilemma for me, do I visit less, every other day at the moment, or more, which is not giving me the break I really need.
Another thing ,which now needs to be factored in, is that each visit costs £9 in taxi fares.
Now that I am paying fees, I have to consider this.
A difficult stage in life for many of us, for a multitude of reasons.

I agree soop with everything anno has said. Time flies and it will soon be over. Thankfully we are now facing spring and summer so the weather should not be a problem re visiting.

soop. You're such a brave and confident person. I hope it is a comfort to you to know that you have so many unseen (but not unknown) friends rooting for you. I'm glad that your clan gathering will go ahead with 'the matriarch' firmly in charge.

Just popping in to blow steam! The roofers were due at 8am yesterday....they arrived at 12.30...and left at 2.00 with a cheery wave and “we’ll be back at 8.00 tomorrow, on the dot”.......think they need a new battery in their watch!

2 the results from modern treatments are so good, that you’re more likely to die with cancer than of it. If you understand the difference

For various reasons I haven’t quite managed to chat much in the kitchen lately, but I do keep nipping in just to see what’s what.
So pleased soop that there is a clear treatment plan now in place for you. Your positive attitude, humour and strength of character - not mention the good wishes and prayers of many will see you through all that’s to come.

Good to hear news of panache too, here’s hoping you’re that bit closer to getting the support you need. I hope too that things will be clearer for your dh’s op synonomous.
