callgirl, it's good news that your son has been given a treatment plan, though it's going to be quite gruelling. Does he need to travel every day or does the hospital have accommodation for people in his situation? It's good that he has a sympathetic employer.

Anno, he has to go every day. The first one is in Boston, after that he has to go to Lincoln.

That is good news callgirl. Is there any community transport where he lives? DH is a volunteer driver for RVS and regularly takes people for radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments.

Good news callgirl. It will be hard travelling 60 miles every day but it will cure your DS. We live much nearer the hospital but it takes just as long as we have to queue for hours to park.

I have just had a longish post disappear on me! How does that happen? Anyway, just to say my thoughts will be with Soop today, who will be in good hands I’m sure; and an arm around the shoulder for MacS who will be going through the emotional mill no doubt.

Ann so sorry to hear about the new botheration and worry but in the end it may work out for the very best especially if the finances are properly covered for you.

Callgirl that treatment sounds a positive step forward for your son and what a blessing that his employers are helping with the finances. Our friend, whose sepsis story I told earlier, had all his wages stopped for the full 4 months he was in hospital and until he was able to return to work. It has taken ages for him to get back on to a better financial footing. Good thing he has a GSOH!
I do hope DS's friends will rally round with transport help as daily hospital trips are draining but it is best not to be an inpatient if at all possible!

Well my Grans chicken soup seemed to do some good yesterday so I’ve made an even bigger batch this morning to fortify each and everyone that pops into the kitchen...and a thermos full for MacS.

I bought a smart contemporary cuckoo clock last week to amuse my GD and every time it strikes my little black cat Fergal runs to sit beneath it, ready to pounce. Just hope GD gets to see the birdie before the cat gets it!

Let’s hope Garath blows the buggerations into touch today!

Callgirl that's good news that your son's treatment is to start and he will be paid by his employer during it - it will be a gruelling time especially with all that travelling so not worrying about finances will be appreciated I'm sure.

Panache poor Mr P - I hope he finds some relief for his pain - being in bed all night seems to make these things worse as I suspect it's being in one position for a time when everything seizes up. I have a very bad neck at the moment and wake trying to turn over in excruciating pain.

I have made another batch of cheese scones - apparently Mr W's work colleagues have never heard of them and think the idea of savoury scones is gross so I've made extra for him to take tomorrow.

It's blowing a gale here today so although I should be going out I'm procrastinating and may well venture upstairs and tidy out my make up drawer. I've already done the 40 items of clothing for lent thing and dispatched those to the local vets who collect for the Blue Cross.

I think the secret for all those losing long posts may be to copy the text before looking back to a previous page then paste it when you go forward again - that's when they seem to disappear.

Mamissimo Fergal's antics with the cuckoo are like Daphne's with the printer - as soon as she hears it winding up even if she's fast asleep she's up and sat by it straight away waiting for the paper to pop out. I'm sure she thinks it's purely for her entertainment

I will have some of your chicken soup, Mamissimo - it is my favourite. And I need cheering up because I fell over the vacuum cleaner and ended up on the floor! Things that connected with the ground and the wall are starting to let me know about it! Nothing broken though.

Willow and Mamissimo I think Smokie must be related to Daphne and Fergal but with him it is the washing machine. He only has to hear a click and he hares off to the utility room to check the plug hole in the sink next to the machine. He once saw bubbles coming up and was found sitting in the sink popping them all. He knows he is not to go on the worktops but he just can't resist!

DD is trying to persuade me to get a very light upright Gtech rather than all my hoses and wires to stop me tripping over.

Callgirl I seem to have missed your particular family crisis, apologies. I hope the treatment your son receives is not too arduous for him. The travelling will not be easy either when tired and emotionally wrought.

I seem to be having difficulties following all that is happening in this 'ere kitchen these days. I read things then have little recollection, so apologies if I miss people out. Yesterday I could not for the life of me work out how to use the shower - the controls just baffled me until CH stepped in to help. I also seem to have lost the ability to touch type, a skill I have had since my teens. I now have to look at the keyboard which means it all takes ages to write anything. I also 'lost' Tuesday completely.

So this must be how it goes on. I keep catching sight of my CH with tears in his eyes as the realisation of this awful diagnosis hits home.

Today is lightened by a dear friend stepping in to take me out to lunch one day. Forgive my low mood today. My sense of humour is I feel, still there, but taking a day off.

I shall return to see if there are any updates later on soop.
