There's a lot of 'stuff' about in our kitchen. Pleased to report Mr C and I are fine, just as well as the family do need some support.

anneliese you are safe in the kitchen if your heart is in the right place. Kindness and support for all are part of the basics with some lovely humour and lots of cakes too. Your post reminded me when I tentatively put a toe in the door of the kitchen. At that time soop had just posted a picture of a large lump on poor MacSporran’s head. It seems such a long time ago now and so much has happened to the kitcheners since.
ann I am so sorry you’ve had this latest knock back. I hope it turns out to be a positive thing and more funding is forthcoming.

Please may I remind^you lot^ that too much cake is being eaten and you are not looking after your teeth. If you have been careless and no longer have your own teeth- as you were!

I do hope you have a good journey tomorrow soop and all the very very best. Before you know it, MacSporran will be picking you up and bringing you home again to us lot. I am more than happy to sort out a care rota for you to take some of the weight off MacSporran's shoulders and I will not accept no for an answer- going on holiday will not be an option.

That Storm Gareth has abated for a while so DH has taken son's dog for a walk on the prom. I'm sure a Capoochino will be involved at some stage.
Gareth is set to return later today and will be with us until tomorrow, talk about overstaying your welcome. As for me I might sidle into the kitchen later for a cuppa.

Panache so sorry MrP is in pain. It was when my DH had sciatica we decided on separate rooms and I have to say I am sleeping much better.

Soop wishing you well for tomorrow. I can imagine your heart is not in it but it has to be done. There will be time for grieving when it is over and we will all be here to support you. We look forward to hearing from McS on how it has gone.

panache, I'm sorry you are having to sleep apart from your Dh but you might both get better rest that way.

mamissimo, I'm sure you could do better than boo if you really thought about it.

I'm off to cook tea/dinner/supper/ whatever. We are having chicken thighs stuffed with boursin cheese and wrapped in bacon. I always do too much so will leave some of the leftovers on the side. They are delicious sliced when cold and DH won't miss a few.

I have never visited the kitchen, so I am just popping one eye round the door to wish you all well, so many troubles, and so much bravery and support on here, you seem a lovely lot.

Just hoping I can make you smile, after the trauma of grandson's arrival, and near departure of both him and his mum last Wednesday (Traumatised Son thread in Grandparenting) the little family are now safely back in their own home. One of the cats has joined in the celebrations, going out and coming back with a dead mouse, which he laid tenderly at little GS's feet!

ann hang in there girl and all will be well. It takes special people to care for those with dementia and if the current home can't cope (which highlights how much you were trying to do alone) then NHS-funded care is the better option all round.

Mamissimo I was wondering what to do with some left-over chicken so it's now soup, just the thing on a day like today. My mother always called it Daddy's soup as apparently he showed her how to make it. I found that hard to believe as I have no recollection of him even making a cup of tea!

Welcome to all the new faces peering round the kitchen door. As you may have gathered, we're partial to a piece of cake in here, or any other edible treat, and the occasional bottle of elderberry wine doesn't get turned away either Pleased to hear your little family are all home safe B9 and what a caring cat to bring a gift for the new baby.

Ann,I am so sorry for the troubles you are having with your husbands nursing home,as somebody else has said,if you can take someone with you for support when you visit the home manager.From my experience,the top up funds should be paid for you but the goalposts always seem to be changing.

Panache, sorry your husband isn`t too well, I hope he`s soon on the road to recovery.
My son has been offered his first bout of chemotherapy next Monday, then on the second dose they`re starting him on radiotherapy as well, curative treatment they say. He has to attend Lincoln hospital , just over 30 miles away, every day for 6 weeks, and can`t work for 4 months. A bit of good news is that the firm he works for are going to pay him full wages all the time he is off work.
