Storm Gareth was roaring around all night in the Derbyshire hills and kept me awake, I feel tired out today. Fortunately my lovely dog stayed fast asleep, one positive for being so deaf, bless him.

I’m still feeling my way in the kitchen and getting to know you all. It’s a bit like starting to read a book halfway through! But I’m so glad I stumbled into the kitchen. You are all so warm and supportive, and I love the humour too.

Will be thinking of Soop and MacS and of everyone who is struggling at the moment.

I’m quite partial to fruit loaf, which I am leaving in the kitchen for anyone who might enjoy it with best butter and !

Typical! Today is my regular seven weekly haircut day and the only day my hair ever looks tamed.....and it’s blowing a hooley!

The kitchen is like a rugby scrum these days - we are all shoving against adversity with all our might and wyles to get control of the ball. We’re six nations material I reckon ?

Ann please take someone with you (of a direct nature!) to meet the home manager. You need a full care assessment for your DH to make sure what change in his needs has triggered the home’s refusal.

If it is a nursing need or unpredictability, like anger, demand a continuing care assessment because if his scores have changed you may get full funding. This is a fight that’s worth fighting because it can improve things for you. Sending ? because it’s a huge buggerstion that you just don’t need!

Panache - it’s hard isn’t it, but restorative sleep is essential if you are to continue your role as a prop in the scrum of life! Your dear man will worry about you less and not feel guilty for disturbing you....and boo to your rubbish buyers!

I think I’ll make my Gran’s chicken soup for everyone - I was always told it cured everything so a bowl for everyone today - special Soop !

This added complication you certainly could well do without Ann.....there are times in life when that one more straw can "break the camel`s back" and so we can understand how this has been quite a blow.... on top of all the others.
There will be a solution and quite probably your H will find himself even in a better position with improved caring.However of course deeply upsetting for you.

Not exactly swinging from the chandeliers here either,first time in over 50 years that my man and I have not shared the same bed............and how strange it was!!
Poor soul can find no relief from this pain and for nights has been walking the floor for the best part,hence disturbing my sleep......so separate beds it has to be until this pain is hopefully conquered.
Perhaps I shall even join in with midnight postings!

Our own would be purchaser eventually turned up and stated they are now looking for cheaper property if you please.............now why did they not think of that before building up our hopes with an offer? ............and having us on the search for a new home either to Buy or to rent..........I am almost giving up.............but another viewer at the weekend...........from Surrey.So we plod onwards......

ann you need this like a hole in the head especially as this home, from memory, was the closest to your home. I agree with others it may be a silver lining if you get more money towards H's nursing care.

A dull, miserable stormy day here today. Tara was on her rear legs pummelling at the door to be allowed out so she is out and I doubt if I will her before 7pm.

It appears that I should be giving lessons in sleeping. I could fall asleep standing on my feet. I slept from after 11pm last night until after 7.30am today with a couple of trips to the loo.

I am trying to find out more, unfortunately the home Manager and I have no rapport.
I don't know why, I have never complained or in any way rocked the boat, I get on very well with most of the staff, particularly one of the deputies, but I have a personality problem with the manager.
I know she won't go out of her way to help.
The GP is going this morning and I have asked that his anxiety meds are reviewed.
I can do no more for the moment.
Thinking today of soop I have been there and done that and I know very well what a brave front hides.

Sending positive vibes to Soop today and hoping the weather isn't a hindrance getting to the hospital.

Ann yet another problem for you to deal with just when you seemed to be getting more settled. Are you able to go and look at other care homes in the area which may be more suitable to your husband's needs? From a financial point of view this may prove to be beneficial if he now needs nursing care as well as social care. I fought for a long time to get this for my mum as she could no longer do anything for herself. It definitely helped with the costs.

Izabella hopefully once the medication gets into your system the dizziness and fatigue will ease - it's good to know they have started you on something so quickly but in the meantime rest as much as you can. The chair incident must have been very funny!

Its pouring down here again today - I have a doctors appointment this afternoon so hoping it stops before I have to venture out!

Ann my step-father was in a home with vascular dementia for 2 years, as his needs became greater the NHS paid the extra. We were worried as they owned their home. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

So sorry the kitchen is full of troubles, but how fortunate are us “kitcheners” that we have this lovely warm and welcoming kitchen to share or woes and receive so much friendship and support.

Good morning all. So many trials and tribulations in the kitchen. My Thoughts this morning are with soop plus the devastation Ann must be feeling on her dear husband's needs not being met. It's one crisis after another. If anything Ann, it makes everyone realise how much you struggled with the for how long. ?

panache you have a way with words that always hits the spot. I am sure I speak for many when I say you manage to uplift us even when struggling with life yourself.

1inamillion - kitcheners bearing lemon drizzle cake are ALWAYS welcome here. I have been fancying some for a few days so enjoyed the few remaining crumbs. I think kittylester or gd may have beaten me to it. Btw, kitty i hope you sorted out the silk knickers. I am a tad worried it may be something to do with those menfolk again!!

Hilarious session with my lovely GP yesterday. Current husband came with me so we used the two adult chairs in the surgery. Said GP came and sat next to me on the kiddies chair and then fell off. We all collapsed in fits of giggles resulting in odd looks from the reception staff as we left. My new medication for the Alzheimers is making me quite dizzy and very tired at the moment, so swimming only and the bike confined to quarters. Mind you looking at the weather, not a bad thing. When a bit more lively I shall consider bringing in on of my home made tea breads and fresh butter from my friends farm.

I usually have a list of things to do next, but this morning may simply opt for a nap, after which I hope to properly update myself on kitcheners in general.

Thinking of Soop and MacS this morning and sending them as many positive vibes as I can lay my hands on. We shall have to have a welcome back party on their return !!

We took poor old Sam to the vet for his healthy pet check up yesterday and now the entire household is on a diet!!! Whilst the veterinary nurse refrained from saying out loud that he was a touch 'porky' she did say his 'waist' is non existent and he needs one !!

He was most nonplussed that when Grampy made coffee last night he did not get his customary biscuit ( I know how he feels as since we have been on this diet Ive missed them too!!).

He has looked in his breakfast bowl this morning and all I can say is...I now know what a 'hangdog' expression is !!

Wishing Soop a safe journey to Paisley. It will be a very long day for her. and McSporran.

Ann I am so sorry to hear of yet another problem. I do hope they can get the extra funding and can keep him there.

Sorry to hear of this extra worry for you annsixty. We faced a similar situation with my Fil recently. I hope you get the extra funding but don't despair, it may well be that a new place will indeed meet his needs more, this is where the social worker comes in, as Kitty says.

ann I am really sorry to hear that. My dad needed to be hoisted everywhere as he could not even stand and until a few weeks before he died they got him up every day. They did not charge extra. It could be that as he needs extra nursing care it will be funded by the NHS. Age Concern could advise you on this. I believe it is quite a process but it is worth finding out about. [ flowers]

Crumbs, ann, as if you didn't have enough to worry about. A small crumb of comfort - mum was much better after we moved her from the place which also 'could not meet her needs'. That is a mealy mouthed expression. Try not to worry it's just another buggerations to be overcome. Ask your social worker for more suggestions.

How I wish we had moved years ago.
I had my equilibrium knocked right off kilter yesterday, I went to visit my H to be told that they "are unable to meet his needs"
They are applying for extra funding as he needs much more care and if it isn't forthcoming he will have to be moved to somewhere more suitable.
I have thought of nothing else since and am a wreck.
I truly thought, life, while very difficult, was at least more settled but no, I must think again.

It’s 3.15 and I am wide awake! DH’s CPAP mask is whistling and Gareth is blowing, reminding me that I forgot to bring in the washing - b....r! It will be halfway to Kitty’s house!
We saw a house on Saturday that we have rather fallen for. It may be a mistake, as ours is not on the market yet although we are nearly ready. The Suffolk house has a few issues that we would need to sort out, which is why I can’t get to sleep! I think I have solved one problem though .
I hope you are all sleeping well. I will creep out quietly, closing the kitchen door behind me!
