Hello all, good wishes etc.

Well, what it says up there ^, that's all I really wanted to say.

phoenix Fri 15-Feb-19 22:41:27

OK, so just to check, so far, behind this sofa we have:

Various GN members

At least 2 cats

At least 1 dog

A duvet

A reclining chair

Assorted food & drink (Some needing heating, others refrigeration)

Doodle I think we may have gone beyond needing bigger sofas!

Perhaps we should be considering either some sort of bunker, or (and this would be my choice, but I'm happy to leave any decision to the GN collective) a modest stately home, with moated grounds to ensure that admittance is controlled, and limited to those of a like mind, [plus of course deliveries of essential supplies], and fully staffed.

MawBroon Fri 15-Feb-19 22:44:20

I would ask if Hattie could come too but she doesn’t do behind sofas and the food would not last a nanosecond.

Kalu Fri 15-Feb-19 23:01:05

Phoenix , you for got the Heli Pad! An absolute must for all deliveries in a 100 acre estate ?

If I bring along my supply of Tequila, Cointreau and limes to make some mean Margueritas may I join you?

Nanny27 Fri 15-Feb-19 23:07:53

Earlier I was instructed to switch to 'desktop' mode so that I could see the acronyms so I did but now I can't find how to get it back to mobile mode. Anyone? Anyone?

Buffybee Fri 15-Feb-19 23:09:28

Ooooo! Now we're going to live in a Stately Home, Maw can bring Hattie, she can have her very own sofa and my old girl would love a friend, she's very well behaved, quiet and refined and sleeps most of the time, so I'm sure they will get along.

phoenix Fri 15-Feb-19 23:28:50

Nanny27 sorry, but can't help with that (I have had the same problem before, resolved it, but can't for the life of me remember how!) Once we have the staff in place for the GN Manor House/Stately Home, I will ask our resident technical support valet to get in touch.

Doodle Fri 15-Feb-19 23:41:16

Jacuzzi please and a sun bed and a nice young man to deliver drinks ?.
hattie must come too maw. I’m sure we can find enough food to keep her happy and a nice cosy sofa just for her.

phoenix Fri 15-Feb-19 23:49:01

Doodle I was thinking of putting one of these www.ebay.co.uk/p/Whirlpool-Bath-Steam-Corner-Shower-Room-Cabin-Enclosure-Cubicle-1700mm-No-Sydney/28019454277?iid=253626082904 in every ensuite. Of course we could also have a huge outdoor hot tub if you would like one?

Not too sure about sun beds though, not good for you!

I left another site and switched to this one because there was a small number of people who deliberately caused unpleasantness. Even on the more lighthearted subjects, they would home in on something that was posted and go off-topic, accusing the poster of racism or some other prejudice. Several people complained but nothing changed and the site lost a lot of nice people.

Blencathra Sat 16-Feb-19 07:03:13

I can’t understand why people can’t read the opening post and see that it is tongue in cheek - if they fail to notice they could at least read some of the replies that point it out!

NanKate Sat 16-Feb-19 07:34:19

The only thread that I feel is totally bombproof from nastiness is Soop’s Kitchen, long may it last.

I used to think the Good Morning thread was pretty safe too until earlier this year when two GN members were particularly nasty and I can confirm Maw took some unwarranted flak.

I don’t think we will ever be totally without bullying. I rarely venture onto the political threads as you sometimes need a metal helmet to survive. ?‍?

1inamillion Sat 16-Feb-19 07:36:29

Mawbroon, we have a little spaniel who has the best seat in the house like Hattie.
Now that you have a stately home, may I join you all?
I'll bring some good cheese and onion crisps - my downfall,
I agree with the sentiments expressed, why can't people be kind. RL is too grim and too short.
DH and I have a similar sense of humour Maw, I'm convinced that's why we're still married - 42 years in July. ?

Lisagran Sat 16-Feb-19 07:48:36

I think you’ll need a ‘bouncer’ on the door - not to check for drugs or if you’re underage (grin), but to make sure you have a sense of humour smile. I’d like to join you in your new residence, but you seem to be slumming it a bit, so I’ll wait until the sunken champagne filled baths have been fitted.......

Jane10 Sat 16-Feb-19 09:07:27

Will the bouncer be to check that you all have your drugs? Can't do without the shed loads of statins and BP meds etc!
Meanwhile, I won't be joining you. The mansion you plan sounds too small for me and my staff. I may think about putting in an offer for a neighbouring estate and inviting you (in suitably vetted small groups) to visit to see how the other half lives. grin

PECS Sat 16-Feb-19 09:25:51

Fortnum & Mason hamper is on its way...but I asked them to substitute Gentleman's Relish for a vegan mushroom pate. Hope that is OK?

bikergran Sat 16-Feb-19 09:26:16

If I am allowed to join....can I bring my "inflatable friends" they always used to come with my to the Virtual Parties on GN (until one day went to Blackpool and fell asleep on the beach) when I woke up they had floated out to sea , but I soon got on that"Special site" and ordered two more (Hope I havnt lowered the tone of the thread ) grin

Charleygirl5 Sat 16-Feb-19 09:33:02

Jane at this rate we will be taking over half a county if all of your staff are coming also.

phoenix I so agree, sun beds are definitely not good for any of us.

I am more than happy to look after the animals but Tara unfortunately does not mix with other cats and I doubt if she has seen a dog. She will bring her own food- or should I say, her personal door person will.

Urmstongran Sat 16-Feb-19 09:39:03

Could I come along? The current affairs/political threads are well known for very strong views but honestly, I was astonished a while back when I set up a new thread just asking posters about their 3 favourite family meals. It was a lovely interesting read until someone tried to hijack it & bring bluddy Brexit into it! Jeez. I politely asked them not to spoil it and luckily it didn’t disintegrate. I agree though, there are some keyboard warriors on GN.

MawBroon Sat 16-Feb-19 09:41:03

Was it a Full English Brexit?

Tweedle24 Sat 16-Feb-19 09:42:24

PECS, would you object if I brought my own Gentleman’s Relish? I used to buy it for my husband but, he pointed out several times that, as a woma, rather than a gentleman, I was not entitled to share it. Would the bouncers confiscate it as contraband?

PECS Sat 16-Feb-19 09:48:49

Ah my decision was based on my own dislike of anchovies! I will phone F&M and ask them to reinstate Gentleman's Relish + the pate. Phoenix is it ok just to turn up, like the house parties I went to in the 60s ..as long as I bring a contribution & happy to pass it round?

MawBroon Sat 16-Feb-19 09:49:38

I do relish a nice gentleman ......

MissAdventure Sat 16-Feb-19 09:52:23

This is why I never pull my sofa out to clean behind it.
You never never know what's lurking!

Urmstongran Sat 16-Feb-19 09:54:27

Maw ??

PECS Sat 16-Feb-19 09:57:42

Maw I have checked but F&M were a bit sniffy when I asked for a photo of the gentleman who was going to deliver the hamper...
