Ouija Boards

Ha! This is hilarious! GNHQ won't moderate the Gabriella/Anniebach wind-up thing going on but delete an informative and on-piste previous comment of mine...couldn't make it up!

I have had some experience in this field, having been involved in Spiritualism many years ago, to the extent to taking mediumship training. I have to say that in over four years of attenting Spiritualist services, seances and readings, I never saw or heard anything that couldn't be explained.
Totake just one example: At one service, when a medium was on the stage , she called out "I'm getting the name 'joe', does anybody know a Joe?" She gave no more details than a name - it could have been the name of anybody - or anything.
A woman promptly shot up her hand: "Yes, that's my new grandson!", and the medium gave her a message to the effect that he would be a remarkable child (without giving any details).
After, when the woman was outside talking to friends about it, I heard her exclaiming "Isn't it amazing how she knew my grandson's name!" She'd entirely forgotten that she'd given that information to the medium!
Time and time again, I observed the same thing - people heard what they wanted to hear, and remembered what they wanted to remember. I suspect that if some of the people on here had taped these 'accurate' psychic messages, they'd find they weren't as accurate they remembered.
I have to emphasise that I didn't start out as a sceptic, not at all - like that bloke on the X-Files, I wanted to believe. But I couldn't believe without proof, and I found none.
Finally, as grandtante's granny said, if the dead do live on, they'd surely have better things to do than hang around mediums passing on vague messages.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the Gabriella/Anniebach battle is about and is it always like this? Can nothing be done to stop these cutting remarks? At our age, surely we could be above such mean remarks?

I've found the deleted comment now, also one each from Gabriella and Anniebach have been deleted. That seems fairly even-handed to me - they were both having a go at each other. I've no idea what wellwalked posted, but it must have had something in it that broke the guidelines or HQ would have let it lie.

For Luckylegs, the disagreement was due to the two posters having differing attitudes to the subject being discussed and expressing their opinions of each other's attitudes rather sharply. That is usually the reason for spats on Gransnet. They tend to blow over fairly quickly unless one or both parties hold a grudge and raise old scores in the future.

Can we now draw a line under the digs and sarcasm?

Pure manipulation of the stressed and grieving . Horsewhip all exponents of the occult and the heinous trappings !! But I feel same about religion !!

When I was a child my aunt and uncle had an old Ouija board in the house. We spent many holidays at their place and when the weather was too cold, all the cousins would gather round and play board games in the attic for hours at at time.

I think we were too young (aged six to twelve) to realize what a Ouija was or that we were dabbling in anything forbidden. The pointer always seemed to give meaningful answers (with a little help of course) and none of us were ever the worse for it. We were in awe of it but nothing spooky ever happened.

If you want a connection to your passed loved ones only visit a reputable medium through word of mouth, yes there are fake ones but there are really good ones too. Don't mess about with these boards where you are asking 'anything' to enter your energy and space. It's stupidity. I feel sorry for people that don't believe in the afterlife but at least they'll have a surprise one day when they eventually find out their family is waiting for them. I have had too many experiences and signs that make me 100% certain our loved ones are waiting for us.

Three, Gabriella One from wellwalked was deleted as well as one each from you and Anniebach. Looks as though GNHQ was saying, "I don't care who started it, but you can all stop it right now", just as we have all said many times in the past (about 40 years ago in my case)
