The last of the killer heels? ??

Oh to be able to wear beautiful high heels. I too have culled my shoe collection. I still have a beige court shoes with a small heel that I paid £100+ plus for my sons wedding 7 years ago. I can just about bear them for an hour or two. I also have an Italian pair of navy blue suede court shoes bought for wedding in New York over 20 years ago that I can wear without wobbling and too much pain. The inside is starting to bobble and that worries me a bit. If or when they fall apart I don’t know what I’ll do. The only shoes I can wear are reiker and they don’t do a court shoe. I’m short and sort of tubby so need a heel to even me out.

You've prompted me to face the fact that I won't wear high heels again!
Even when teaching and on my feet all day, qI always wore highish heels and found that flats made my insteps ache!
Reality kicked in this summer when, on a 'posh frock' event and wearing (just) 2" heels, I caught one on a kerb.
Result - broken hip and now finally admitting that my confidence is dented and I won't wear them again!

Funny, I dreamt last night about tripping in high heels. My daughter decided two years ago she was never wearing heels again, that women ruin their feet in the name of fashion whilst men wear broad comfy shoes and warm socks. There is lots of lovely footwear available with low heels. I agree, but I still keep a black pair medium heel (Clarkes) and black patent (M&S footglove). I think I will add a nude pair. These are just for sitting occassions. Pavers are good for footwear too.

I've never worn much in the way of heels. (Last pair (low) was probably over 20 years ago, at DS''s wedding). Chiropodist says I have excellent feet....... I'm very, very glad to have happy feet.

I never have worn high heeled shoes. My job as a nurse ruled them out for work, and I've never been one for going out in an evening.
I have one pair of black heels with a pretty jewelled buckle that I bought last summer to wear at the formal dinners on the cruise. I have not had cause to wear them since.
I own more flat sandals than shoes, and have 2 pairs of boots.

I used to love my stilettos! I wore them all day, every day whatever job I was doing, and all through pregnancy and running round after the children.

Not sure what happened but in the last few years (I'm 66) I've realised that they have disappeared from my wardrobe and only flat, comfortable shoes can be found in there now!

Love mine and DS has inherited my love of shoes too. Always a problem when we go on holiday getting them down to a manageable number.

The last time I wore killer heels was 1965.

It was my first year at university. I bought two pairs with the proceeds of a holiday job. They were uncomfortable and you couldn't walk far in them without your feet hurting. So they went out and were replaced by equally attractive shoes with Louis/kitten heels and I have stuck with those and similar every since.

I have a bit of a shoe and handbag obsession, I have got far too many to count, I am not ready to give up on my heels any time soon, although I did not wear them last summer due to breaking my foot and ankle ironically whilst wearing "flats"

I never got the hang of high heels??‍♀️ I was a teenager in the 1980’s when Court shoes (Lady Di) were all the rage and on the rare occasions I tried high heels they hurt my back and feet so much I didn’t go there? I do own kitten heels and these are the highest I go!?

I love high heels. However the last few years I have been mostly unable to squeeze my bunioned feet into them, although I have a couple of pairs that I squeeze into for weddings etc. I have recently discovered a site with lovely shoes for people with bunions. They are expensive but I may treat myself to one pair at some point. It's callashoes if anyone is interested.

When I volunteered in a charity shop we used to laugh about the killer heels that had obviously only been worn once. One day another volunteer tried a pair on and teetered round the shop for a laugh. One of the customers said 'I walk like that when I come out of the pub on a friday'.

To the ladies who say they are going to buy more Hotter shoes. I used to be able to buy a pair of Hotter shoes and be certain that they would fit perfectly but they have altered the fit and are wider now. I can no longer buy them and I was a very good customer!

No killer heels but plenty (well, more than plenty, really) of two inch or so courts in all the colours of the rainbow. And yes, they hurt, but I'm not giving up yet! Hoping that my knee replacement this year will extend the length of time I can continue to wear silly but dead sexy shoes ...

Always wear high heels when I go out somewhere smartly dressed. I have a paid of black patent court shoes and a similar navy pair with 2 1/2 inch heels, which I wear a lot. And they are so comfortable. Just look for a pair with slightly cushioned soles.

I bought some really lovely - and pretty comfortable dark yellow peep toe wedges to wear to a dd's summer wedding over 3 years ago.
They haven't been worn since. Nor has the lovely but simple linen dress I wore with them.
Can you tell I live in jeans (winter) and in summer, cotton or,linen trousers, and flats?
I just don't do seriously dressed-up any more.

I was brutal with my last Charity shop clear out ! Was heart wrenching to say farewell to about 12 pairs of stilettos, all colours, representing my past ??....but I just can’t do it to myself anymore, even if just in/out of the car to a restaurant. It’s wedges for me from here on out for evenings and mostly flats for day wear.

Too many pairs to count. I love high heels but after a couple of falls( wearing flats!) and breaking both my wrists I haven't had the courage to wear my heels. I know I should have a clear out but can't bring myself to getting rid of them.
I have lots of dresses I no longer wear as I feel they need a decent heel to look nice. Now wear trousers/ jeans/leggings or maxi dress most of the time.

I have LOTS of them, from Italian Ferragamo suede kitten heel boots to 4.5" stilettos. I have a special trunk full, all with shoe shapers and wrapped in tissue and labelled.
I love my heels and boots but have a big collection of flats including trainer types, sliders and Vans.
Shoes and bags are my 'thing'. ????????

Kitten heels aren't killer heels. Kitten heels are shoes you can walk miles in without discomfort. I regularly go up to London to exhibitions and walk for miles, almost always in shoes/boots of some kind with a 2 inch heel or similar.

I always go for comfort but envy people who can wear heels. I had a pair of heeled wedges that I bought to wear to to my GD's graduation from school 3 years ago and ended up tottering home with painful blisters. Never Again! However, in honour of my Dad, who always loved to see my Mum in heels when she was alive, I wore them to his funeral (with much inward grimacing by me as I tottered along). My DIL, who has been married to my son for 16 years, said "NannyEm, I've never seen you in heels before". I hope she meant it as a compliment.

Any excuse to get out the killer heels! I love them. Unfortunately I don't get much chance to wear them these days but I have lots of them in every colour imaginable & no way are they going to the back of the wardrobe yet awhile.
I like I nice high wedges too. My favourite boots have a high heel but not very useful in this snow.

Shoes were always my thing, love them. I wore loads of high heeled pairs, but now they are all gone. I can still manage about 2" heels as long as they are fairly thick or a wedge.

For the most part they come from Hotter. I have loads of this make - slippers, sandals, smart shoes, trainers, boots, pumps. mainly they are extremely comfortable and last for ages. also they do wide fits, plus as I now have to have a special insole, Hotter shoes insoles come out so I can just slip the others in.

I think that most women know that kitten heels aren't killer heels.

I wish I could these days, it would make me 5' 8" instead of a titchy 5' 4"
