It is now -9 degrees in Glasgow!!!! Too cold to go out and scrape the car! Brrrrrrr!❄⛄

We had quite a heavy fall of snow during the night here in letchworth. My Garden looks lovely!!! lol. Not venturing out today will snuggle down indoors catch up on some tasks and listen to an audio book or watch a film later.

What ever anyone is doing if you go out today take care.

You must be near me harrigran I heard the hailstones after struggling to sleep with very sore throat and ears killing me.mwe have light snow in ne and hopefully it stays that way. I have to go to work for 11'so it may be OK by then. Have a good day everyone and stay in if you can.

Greetings all from a very frosty Aberdeenshire...It's too cold for snow and -8 last night. Had a surprise chat with grandkids early as their school in Bucks is closed, so I have to hunt out family memorabilia for his WW1 project. Whoopee, six nations starts today so, at last, something good to watch on TV. Don't know what's for tea tonight so shall stir the freezer around and see what comes to the surface!

Good morning everyone from a very wet Essex by the sea. No snow but torrential rain all night. Off to the Solicitors this morning to change our wills now that we are married. Then I need to do some food shopping before making lasagne for dinner. Wish I didn't have to go out but needs must. Be careful out there everyone.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Overcast and very cold in South Yorkshire but the forecast snow has not come yet. DS has cancelled his visit for lunch tomorrow. I think it’s sensible but I will miss him. Better safe than sorry (and that’s just the food!?). Have a good day folks.

Morning Michael, Annie and all, from a very snowy Berks. It started last night and has continued, and by the look of the sky, there is more to come. DH goes volunteering this afternoon and I usually drive him to town, so hope the roads will be OK. I have shopping to do as well, topping up my baking supplies etc.
I actually thought it was Saturday when I woke up, then realised it wasn't.

Was wakened for a few hours through the night so we are just up to a message from DD, typical the only day we have a lie in we get an early message - non-urgent however. Snow is bad in some places must be terrible for those who cannot get out. Just away to get on hope everyone looks after themselves, take care today.

Good morning, Michael and all, we have snow here in North Carmarthenshire, everything looking very pretty but also, cold. Our roads are icy so I’m staying in and cooking. An ash tree has to come down in our garden tomorrow so I’ve made the soup and now must bake, for lunch for our kind tree-felling helpful neighbours. First job today, feed the birds, peanuts, seeds and suet balls. We have a blackbird with a bad foot and he has a half apple every morning to keep him going. Stay safe, everyone.

Good morning everyone - I have only just awoken. I blame infection, painkillers and antibiotics. Going to a folk club this evening but the rugby will be recorded. I am married to an ex prop forward and have another as a son in law, so I feel I have a good understanding of rugby, particularly the scrum! Living in Leicester, you can guess who we support.
We also follow cricket and I understand the football off side rule?!

Good morning everyone from a chilly but sunny South Manchester. The snow is still banked up on the pavement sides from Wednesday but with well worn icy tracts through it now! The sun seems stronger so hopefully it’ll melt it all away today. I don’t need to go out so shan’t.

Good morning from a very snowy South Herts. Also very slippy at the top of our hill. Quite a few schools are shut, including our three DGDs village primary.
We may put our wellies on later and trudge down to Sainsbury’s.

PS Going to break the rules today and feed the red kites who fly over our house. I wonder if they like garlic and lemon chicken ??

Has anyone else seen the red kites who gather to the side of the M1 near Peterborough for feeding? There were over 60 last time I saw them! Good luck Nankate.

All the sparrows are huddling together on the hedge, all with their feathers puffed out for warmth.

Very cold an with a slight wind here in South Staffordshire but no snow, thank goodness. At the age of 80 I have seen enough of it to last me for the rest of my life ???

It's been snowing here since 8.30 last night and is snowing heavier today. About 6 inches deep, most schools closed and thanks to my neighbour for calling in early this a m. Told us a bus was sliding into daughter's car. It just missed as she moved it tg. From Bristol/ Sth Glos border.

Good morning from near the Mendips. Yesterday we decided to come back a day early from Cornwall - stopped at Sainsbury's on the way - and I went for a walk at about 4.30. There were micro snow flakes falling. This morning I am looking out at a white landscape - fields , trees, lanes all covered in snow and it is still snowing! Grandchildren making snow men and sledging and I've been for a very different walk, making new footprints on the lane. We hear that people using the A30 , which we drove along yesterday morning, later had to abandon their cars in the snow - we feel very lucky to have got home safely.

Lovely to hear about the red kites Nankate and Nannytopsy, I remember years ago having to go to the Red Kite centre in Mid Wales as there weren't many around.

Nannytopsy, I too am married to an ex rugby prop and enjoy watching, though you'd think I'd understand more of the rules after 40 plus years ?

First snow of winter here in East Devon. I fed the birds before my coffee this morning. Please everyone spare a thought for our poor birds. I believe the first recorded feeding of birds in this country was in the 1700s by ladies who felt sorry for them. When I first moved to this house 16 years ago dozens of birds came to my garden for seed. Now there are only about 6 or 7. Why so few? Partly because dedicated gardeners such as my neighbour put down slug poison. This is not only poisonous to slugs and snails but to birds too. Many dead or dying slugs are eaten by birds, and this poisons them as well. There are safer alternatives. When I told my neighbour about the slug poison she started throwing snails over my hedge, saying "I know you like snails!" Grrr...

Good morning and London has not seized up with its light fall of snow; in fact, to use one of my mam's expressions, it's 'going faster than the snow off a dyke' from the playing field opposite. Back to safeguarding this morning as I got distracted yesterday sorting out the security issue on the laptop and it is now protected again thanks to customer services. Tennis will be this evening for a change - used to be one of my regular sessions when I was working.
