Just that really there are some things I just don’ get

Reality TV
Ant & Dec
Lentils
People who have off road vehicles but live in a town
Avocados
maybe it’s just me getting old and grumpy ?

Most of the above - especially indicators (or lack of!)

But I do get avocado, lentils and Mrs Browns Boys. Not the latest program though.

Dogs in designer outfits
Fat women in cheap leggings
Tim Wonnacott
Vegans
Facebook
Rude Brits who expect French supermarket staff to speak English

Mrs Brown's boys makes me laugh.

Cyclists who don’t signal
Pulled pork confused. (dogs dinner )
Shouty Michael MacIntyre
Quite like Mrs Brown’s boys

Fat women in cheap leggings probably trying their hardest to keep a family together and cope with 3 jobs.

Perhaps they don't have time or money available.

Pregnant women in dresses so tight you can see their tummy button protruding ?
Clowns eyebrows and trout pouts.
Reality TV.

Just about everything everyone else has posted, particularly "reality" programmes and "talent" contests. I also don't get "internet influencers" what the hell are they!

petunia Sun 27-Jan-19 10:46:55

Dragonfly, I so agree about Mrs Brown's Boys. My MIL (96) thinks its hysterical. It leaves me cold. I cant get it at all. Bloke in a frock and a bad hair do and corny jokes??

And cavewoman, I don't get Twitter either. Why anyone wishes to throw themselves into this bear pit is beyond me.

I don't get ankle boots with skirts rather than trousers. Very few legs can carry them off, so to speak.

And oldwoman.yes yes yes. Making a living on Instagram or as you say, internet influencers, what have we come to?

I also struggle with the endless talent shows. The gushing presenters, the back sob story. No, don't get it. Oh and add to that the numerous reality stars. Exactly what is their talent apart from presenting themselves as a “talent”? Or having a large bum.

And I can't finish without this final note. Any meal that has a jus, a foam, and emulsion or a voloute, I cant get those at all.

Thank goodness it’s not just me then ? I can find so may things on this thread that I also really don’t get .
Just want to add blogs just read some lady filmed herself giving birth to put on her blog confused
Still can’t relate to lentils or any other pulses and avocados ?

ginny Sun 27-Jan-19 12:10:43

Lot of the things already mentioned.
Smoking, why would you try it even once ?
Excitement over a car. It’s a metal box they all go from A to B on the same roads.
Watching a Grand Prix on the TV. So much noise and cars going round in circles.
Art that is acclaimed but just looks like a 2 year old has been let loose with paint and brush.
Obsession with ‘ celebrity’ lives including the RF.

I don't get:
Jeans with holes in
No socks/tights in Winter
Eyebrows like slugs ( good analogy, lemongrove)
Jumpers without shoulders
Shorts in Winter (except posties)!
Tattoos all over the body
Hair that is cropped one side and long the other
Half mast trousers with huge turnups (a must have, according to M& S ?)
I agree about the off road cars that never see a field, and the non indicators and souped up corsa' and similar makes!
I could go on, but that'll do for now! ?

Mapleleaf Sun 27-Jan-19 12:40:53

Oh, one more, middle and third lane hoggers on motorways - why??

callgirl1 Sun 27-Jan-19 22:44:39

Mapleleaf, I`m guilty of no tights in winter, because I can`t put the damn things on anymore!

MissAdventure Sun 27-Jan-19 23:46:25

I don't really wear tights or socks.
I like my 'underneath' to be able to breathe, and I don't like the scratchy feeling of toes on fabric.
Plus, shops are heated up to near boiling point.

I don't wonder everyone is stressed to the max when there's such a long, long, long list of things which irritate. But tinafl did ask so I guess it's valid. smile

I can no longer sit in the waiting room at the eye clinic (2 hours sometimes) because hysterical American audiences get on my nerves.
It could be, of course, that I'm already tense waiting for the injections I'm about to have in my eyes.hmm
