Just dashing in as I heard there are marmite sausage rolls awaiting my attention
Love and hugs to all those needing them, and there certainly seems to be a lot of folks in the kitchen in that category - my very best wishes to everyone
Taking refuge again Why do I even get upset at abuse from someone I would not normally give the time of day to? What gives some people the right to be abusive behind the screen of anonymity?
I am new here, but have lurked for a while. This is a lovely place to be with no-one "getting at" anyone else. Commiserations to all awaiting medical procedures, we go on Wednesday next week to hear if partner's bowel cancer has spread to his liver, and if he has to have an operation in early March. He is 86 and I am 81 so we are both feeling a bit fraught.
Maw me also. I apparently am an ill-informed member of a lynch mob. Thank heavens I am not alone and there are many other GNs who are part of our select group.
Maw I do wonder why some people come on this forum. They seem to just want to vent their anger. Fortunately we do not seem to have anyone here like that.
Welcome Margaret I do hope you have good news on Wednesday. Waiting for results is a strain.
Welcome nargaret I feel ashamed at getting some upset by comments elsewhere and the gratuitous abuse of some people but it can hit a nerve and I am this close to ducking behind that sofa permanently So sorry for your worries margaret stay and share, there are some broad shoulders for those who need them
dragonfly we agreed here many moons ago that if we could not say anything pleasant or helpful we would not bother. One or two have left or have been assisted off because they were condescending and/or rude.
We can have fun but there is also the serious side when so many are unwell and/or waiting for results which is not easy.
I am pleased to hear it is half term next week- the streets around my part of London will be clear of Chelsea tractors! It must cost a fortune taking a little one to school in that monstrosity.
Welcome Margaret, and my best wishes to your partner. My husband had a successful operation for bowel cancer at the age of 69. Maw, it`s not true about sticks and stones, etc., is it? Keep your chin up! Lovely to hear from you again Panache, you`re right, it IS a beautiful day, isn`t it? I`ve just been looking up the next hotel that Dawn is taking me to in London next month. It looks beautiful on their website, but the recent reviews are awful.
Here in Leicester they say “Ooya” as an exclamation (often followed by an expletive!) Twice this afternoon I have caught myself saying it. I tipped half a bag of soil improver onto the veg plot, along with the biggest frog I have ever seen. Then I emptied an old plant pot and disturbed a big, shiny, black spider. A false widow I think. I’ve retreated inside now!
The promised breakfast was eaten looking out over the beach and was followed by a stroll in the sunshine. Spirits definitely raised here,
Hello, Margaret, you are very welcome. Wishing your partner a good outcome next week, waiting is simply horrid.
Haven’t ventured elsewhere today, the norty corner isn’t big enough for maw, charley and grannyg Can’t believe any of you deserve to be there so do come out. Sounds a good day to stay in the kitchen. As I’ve said many times before I truly don’t understand some of the GN dynamics. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
Reviews are a mixed blessing don’t you think callgirl? Are there specifics you can check with the hotel in advance? All could still be well.
Apparently a huge cooked breakfast wasn’t sufficient to last the day and Mr C is needing - his word not mine - more food. Guess the kitchen elf had better get to work. . Take care everyone.
It’s awfully quiet in the wing.....have they all been reclaimed?
I can’t quite believe the shenanigans going on elsewhere with fully fledged grannies running for cover. I have ordered some flack jackets from Joules to leave in the porch to protect anyone venturing out. Help yourselves if you’re feeling the chill ?
I don't need to be my own kitchen elf tonight, I am going out with a neighbour, she is a widow, to a Malaysian Restaurant. That is a new experience for me but she recommends it. I had a pub lunch yesterday so I am living the high life . I keep checking for news of soop I hope she has some answers. My H was so much brighter this morning , I came away much more settled than of late.
A warm welcome to Margaret, I also send my very best wishes. I was born in Northampton. The famous boot and shoe town.
Today has been somewhat busy. All the way to Glasgow to learn that the Cancer is in the lobes. I now have to return on Monday for a MRI scan. The outcome will determine whether the way forward will be to remove the lump or breast. Whatever the decision, it will save my life. Thank you, NHS. I shall be back to read through al your messages tomorrow. Sleep tight. Hugs a plenty. X
