I had a lot of ironing to get through but managed to fit it all in the allotted time.

Charleyg and Izabella, you are far to soft with your so-called patients. They are running rings around you. No wonder you are frazzled. May I suggest that you withdraw certain priviledges? I won't go into detail. I'm not one to be too tough...that's why you two are in charge. There has to be discipline and a strict curfew is essential. No wonder they are reluctant to vacate their beds. All too cushy...that's my verdict.

I need to wash my hair and do a few jobs inbetween. The day is pleasant enough. Sunny and slightly breezy with it.

Izabella the barber popped in today to tidy the hair of the inmates patients and had the audacity to offer them something for the weekend.

The person who was having his hair trimmed replied that it was mid week but whisky would be welcome anytime, not realising what was on offer. That lot put their money together and now have a bottle of the best. I have sacked the barber. He would probably be bringing in floozies at the weekend if he had those thoughts on his mind. I was horrified.

Charleyg See what I mean? You can't let that so-called poorly lot take advantage of your good nature. Check under the beds. I wouldn't be too sure that the crafty barber didn't drop off a floozie or two when you were up to elbows emptying the bedpans. Whatever next! I'm well shocked.

I feel as though I am in some strange parallel universe- have just read bedtime story to 3yr old GC who insisted on The Night Before Christmas, I am now craving a nice dry sherry and a mince pie??????

Nighty Night folks, and as for the men folk can you please have an evening of decorum as opposed to your usual debacles in the poorly wing!!!!

I have had a PI come in and he has installed night vision cameras and enhanced microphones in the poorly ward - the inmates are getting far too comfy in there and we need to find out who is smuggling midnight snacks to them. I have decided not to mention the antics to Mr W who is complaining of a bad shoulder as he may suddenly feel the need to take up a bed and I need him available to move furniture tomorrow.

I have today cleaned all the conservatory windows having emptied everything out of there. I'm ashamed of the dirt I've removed - the only mitigating factor is that I've been unable to get to them until now for all the 'stuff' in the way. We will soon have furniture back in there and be able to look through the door and decide it's a) looking lovely and comfy but far to cold to venture in or b) looking lovely and comfy but far to hot to sit in there. How I wish we could have a better roof on it - someone is coming tomorrow to look at fixing the leak so I'm hoping we will no longer need towels and bowls on the sill.

Willow we were the same with out conservatory - spent more time looking in than sitting in until we had the solid roof put on. Our neighbours came round on Saturday to have a look as they are thinking of doing the same now that the baby is getting super mobile and they need more space!

This men’s ward sounds to be becoming a place of ill repute! I knew things would go downhill the minute I left to join the Foreign Legion! Get a grip Izabella and Charley or N&G and I will have to come back and put the frighteners on them (well, her, really, not me! I am a pussycat?!).

Talking of which, I was looking out of my kitchen window yesterday, chatting to DD on the phone and watching the birds splashing about in the bird bath when a cat rushed in and snatched one of the poor little blighters and ran off with it! I cried out in horror and DD thought I was having some sort of seizure! I went outside but the thing had disappeared. Yes, I know, it’s what cats do and all mine probably did the same. It was the shock of actually seeing it happen. And now the birds have not been seen since. The feeders are deserted and of course there are no takers for a nice bath!

Well, I am away to ice cup cakes, sort out GS’s present for his weekend birthday and think about how we are going to get a giant box with a rabbit cage in it into our car as SiL, who dumped it at our house on Tuesday, is driving his two seater this week and can’t get it into his car! Well, good job Hondas have “magic seats” is all I can say!

I went to bed last night fit and healthy but woke up this morning with a raging cold, with none of the usual signs and symptoms. That is one of the downsides of going on public transport and to supermarkets etc!

Greyduster yes nature at its most raw can be shocking to see. But maybe the nervous birds in your neck of the woods could wend their way up here. The feeders are all well stocked but not a bird in sight for the last few weeks, even the greedy starlings seem to have deserted us!

This is a fleeting visit to remind you lovely lot that I shall be thinking of you in my absence. Meeting with Baggs this after for a much-needed blether. Tomorrow, first thing, hospital appointment - told it could take two hours. I shall pop in briefly when we return home.

Take very good care of yourselves and each other. May I suggest a generous dose of castor oil for the not so poorly menfolk who continue to clutter the ward. I leave the final decision to Matron and her stalwart team of carers.

Not a bad day for travelling. No snow...that was our biggest fear during the very cold snap.

Castor oil duly dispensed. There may be repercussions as they were all inadvertantly given a double dose. No matter.

I shall hand over control of the ward to others while I prepare for, and go on a walkabout. I have no doubt that things will change while I am away, and I have no problems with that. I shall post until I go and whilst I still have "t'internet"

And for those who may wish to impose draconian measures on the ward - be warned there is a Professional Standards committee visiting soon - so tread carefully.

soop and all other poorly and struggling kitcheners I shall keep you in my thoughts. For galen - I hope all goes well for the funeral and on a lighter note loved your post about the skiffle players. Made me laugh out loud

Izabella please do not worry. The menfolk will have cleaned the ward to our satisfaction before the grand round of the Professional Standards Committee. Our lot will be fast asleep when they do arrive, having been given sleeping tablets midday. Nobody will be any the wiser and it will look as though peace reigns. At least we were given notice.

Some of the wives might at least have given their OHs an idea of what to do with a hoover. The upright is not a crutch and the other variety is not for sitting a cup of tea on. Many wives will be pleasantly surprised when these reprobates return and they see their newly acquired skills.

charleygirl and izabella I don’t want to cause alarm but there is a strange noise coming from the men’s ward. A sort of groaning and gasping ? There also seems to be a queue for the toilets. Just how much Castor oil were they given exactly?

corner on Tuesday Morrisons delivered and apart from most of the fresh food has a very short use by date I have grapes, cherries, bananas and grapefruit so plenty of vitamin C.

Because of the drugs I am on, I am not supposed to take Lemsip and stuff like it but there are times when needs must. My nose is like a beacon and being so red it could guide me anywhere.

Tara will not object to yet another early night after I have a vegetable stir fry followed by my annual shower.

Grampy and I received a gift from young Cooper aged 4 this morning. He had made airdry clay figures. Mine is wearing a beret and a black beard and I did fear it was me but its ok, its a random French man. Grampy did not fare so well , his has a huge mouth, very tiny legs and a large tummy... Cooper obviously has a keen eye for reality ;-) I have posted some photos so you can check....the child's a genius !!! :-)

N&G I thought for a 4 year old, young Cooper did a really good job. Was the sun shining- hence the shades on yours?!

I tried to have a lie in today beyond 8am but Tara was pawing at me to move. She is home now so I will retiring fairly soon.

At least my week is free until Monday so hopefully I will have shaken the cold off by then. Who gave me the virus I wonder!

I do not want to pass on my bugs to the inmates patients so I will not be near the ward until after the weekend. Please keep an eye out for any floozies sneaking in early Saturday evening.

Reporting in to say that soop and macsporran made it safely to the Tullie Inn, as did I, and we all ate pudding for afternoon tea. soop showered me with gifts as she always does, including a necklace that will go perfectly with my tartan dress (the one with which orange tights have been worn—looks fine, honest! Well it would if I had more of a cyclist's calf to show them off).

Puddings: Soop had plum crumble and custard, MacS had carrot cake roulade, and I had sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream ???

So sorry to hear that Callgirl I hope things will turn out for the best for you but sending {{Huggs}} in the meantime.
