I agree with callgirl1. I much prefer a bath, and I never feel as clean after a shower. Where I live now I only have a shower, and I hate it. A bath is relaxing, you can immerse yourself and every bit of you gets clean with little effort. Quick going over with soap or gel, quick rinse (I had a shower attachment on the bath taps, so could rinse with clean water), and out - ten minutes or so. A shower takes me 20 minutes, all sorts of contortions needed to wash and rinse properly all over. There is nothing relaxing about it. I only have showers because I have no choice, but I don’t enjoy them at all.

I had a French bath as Anja describes when I lived in France. Much more comfortable for me, to sit upright in warm scented water.

This type of bath was very common in older properties due to small room size and occasionally could be found in bedrooms. Decadent or what!

We did the same thing Blue and have never regretted it. We had both got to the point where getting out of the bath needed a crane so it was dangerous! I prefer a shower too.

Had our bath taken out when we redid the bathrooms and had a huge walk-in shower installed. We never used the bath and always preferred showers instead. Visitors love it!

I enjoy a nice soak in the bath every now and then. I use the shower more often because it's quicker, but I insisted we had a bath too when we refitted the bathroom a few years ago.

I also plonk the grandchildren in the bath at night before they go to bed (when they sleep here) so it's gets used quite a lot.

I much prefer a bath to a shower, but got to the stage where I couldn`t get in and out of the bath anymore, so we had the bathroom turned into a wetroom. I still sorely miss a bath though, never feel as clean after a shower.

I had one when I worked in France. I think the woman who rented my flat before me might have been elderly. It had a seat higher up and a sort of footwell. Wasn’t like a real bath at all.

Why not have your bath reinstated and a shower over it?

Also you have to sit in it while it fills too.

If you've got room for both the bathroom must be larger than mine. If you mean those square box shaped things with a door I don't think they leak but as dragonfly says you do have to sit there until the water has all drained away which I'd think probably gets a bit chilly.

I think the disadvantage is you have to stay in it until it is empty.

we had an old bath removed when we moved house. had shower installed as it seemed a good idea as bathroom is small. however, I so miss my bath. I am now thinking of having one of these small disabled type baths put in. has anybody got one of these. they do look slightly odd, but might resolve my problem. husband is against it as he thinks the water might leak. any views or experience.
