2019, let’s make this a year to remember those we have loved & those we have lost. Why were they special, why did we love them & why will they be forever in our memories and live on. This thread is in memory for all our hero’s.

I am with Maw in thinking this thread is sentimental and intrusive , a year is not long enough to mourn , a lifetime won't heal

Lisagran Wed 02-Jan-19 21:58:43

I repeat my earlier post- I do hope no one who is feeling sad / vulnerable is being exploited. These are real people; this is not a game.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 21:59:23

I suggested to GNHQ we changed ‘let’s make this a year’to ‘let’s make this a thread’and they said no. The point was make it a thread this year, not a year of mourning. Nobody could contemplate that when it is most definitely a lifetime. If it’s being misconstrued I hope this helps to explain it. ❤️

Food for thought Lisagran.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:00:33

Agree Lisagran.

MawBroon Wed 02-Jan-19 22:02:06

Yes and I removed my post almost as quickly as when I thought it out, I realised I wanted my late DH or me to have nothing to do with it. Wiser heads than mine likewise decided to keep their distance.
My grief was mine, my memories likewise and they felt tainted.
There is no temper involved.
I did not need your thread for our hero’s (sic) or the intrusive questions contained therein.

Lisagran Wed 02-Jan-19 22:03:27

Well you started the thread, Vickixx, so you must know the aim of it. It’s not to my taste, so I shall do the sensible thing and leave now.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:05:19

I was brought up in a family where communication and sharing feelings was very important. I’m so grateful for that as it has seen me through a lot of serious trials in life and I’m still standing.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:09:14

The aim Lisagran was just to give people a place to write a little about people they’ve loved and lost and only if they felt like it. All good intentions.

MawBroon Wed 02-Jan-19 22:09:21

You may share your feelings but don’t presume to share the feelings of others.
Go ahead and share all you like but don’t intrude on the feelings of others with an original post which comes across as cheap and tacky. Too like some of the gushing I was unfortunate enough to be subjected to.
I’m following lisagran’s example.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:18:22

I gushed like a baby after I wrote about my friend and thought about others I’ve lost recently, including my father in law who I loved dearly. It’s been a long time and releasing my tears helped me a lot. That’s just me though and as they say if it’s not for you then best avoid.

MawBroon Wed 02-Jan-19 22:21:06

I don’t think you understand the word “gushed”.

Bridgeit Wed 02-Jan-19 22:21:10

Please ladies don’t see offense where there was none.
We all deal with our circumstances differently. When we contribute on forums such as this, we don’t know each other & cannot see expressions or body language , this can sometimes lead to a misinterpretation of clumsily written words & a belief that an insult has ensued when it actual fact none was intended.

MissAdventure Wed 02-Jan-19 22:25:14

Surely the easiest solution is just not to post on a thread that doesn't appeal?

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:25:22

Gushing of tears in my case MawBroon but then I’m quite a sensitive soul, with a tough shell. I’ve needed it.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:26:20

Never a truer word Missaventure. I’m not understanding this at all ❤️

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:27:16

So true Bridgeit & very wise.

Chewbacca Wed 02-Jan-19 22:29:00

hmm

merlotgran Wed 02-Jan-19 22:31:03

It's only the first few words of the OP that may be inappropriate. We've had threads before where posters share memories of people/family members they admired. I don't remember any objections then but I could be wrong.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:37:47

I tried to change that merlotgran and say ‘let’s make it a thread’ instead of let’s make it a year (which really meant a year of using the thread) but they said no.

Anniebach Wed 02-Jan-19 22:38:42

So sad a thread where posters have spoken of lost loved ones has become unpleasant

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:39:03

It’s possibly in the wrong area too but hey that’s ‘newbies’ for you. I’m still navigating.

Vickixx Wed 02-Jan-19 22:41:13

Anniebach, I couldn’t agree more. It’s what I was dreading but you live & learn. I do hope it doesn’t put people off but I’d understand.

Bridgeit Wed 02-Jan-19 22:44:11

Can we agree that however it is/was worded it was a good intention to share, empathise , support all who have suffered lose.

Bridgeit Wed 02-Jan-19 22:45:00
