...out of a Christmas cracker?I

The best thing is this teeny weeny little grater. It's brilliant for using up little bits of parmesan and zesting limes. It really works!

Practically everything else ever has been rubbish!

a nail clipper, and it wasnt a small one either.then a two holed pencil sharpener. its really handy for the gc colouring pencils.where did i get the crackers from . another health and safety rule (load of hogwash) lol. working voluntary in my charity shop ,we are unable to sell lose crackers .so i put in a donation and bought quite a few home. gc loved them. we also got a small bouncy ball that flashes different colours.(cat likes that one.) oh and a small stuffed robin...(cat has that one too..)the crackers came from HARRODS.... oh an a nice pen...

A set of small screwdrivers that I carry around in my purse. Came from a cracker several years ago.

Rosieroe Tue 01-Jan-19 19:12:06

Just what is the point of those plastic moustaches?

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Jan-19 19:08:03

lovely was to craftergran

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Jan-19 19:07:40

Lovely!

Did someone make the gloves Rosiebee?
very strange grin

craftergran Tue 01-Jan-19 19:06:12

I got a little plastic ring (pink) in one of the crackers and it had a shape on top which may or may not have been a butterfly.

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Jan-19 19:04:32

NotSpaghetti I think they are quite collectable now!

Barmeyoldbat I found the crackers way into the New Year one year. They were still fine and 'snappy' the following Christmas!

Unfortunately, the frog shot somewhere under the table never to be seen again sad

Rosiebee Tue 01-Jan-19 19:00:10

We have a colleagues and partners reunion twice a year, one usually just after Christmas where one year we had crackers. The jumping frog was a star. By the end of the evening we had a wine glass in the middle of the circular table and we were all taking turns trying to get it to land in the glass. We were nearly hysterical by the end of the evening and were the last table to leave the restaurant. The frog comes to all our gatherings now and has been joined by lots of friends.
My worst present this year was a beautiful pair of beaded black gloves - both left hands! hmm

Barmeyoldbat Tue 01-Jan-19 18:09:26

This post has just reminded me we didn't pull any crackers at Christmas! Not a word said by anyone, so have to check if they were just being polite or did they forget.

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Jan-19 18:07:45

Yes, Jalima1108 - those were the ones I mentioned.

Worse thing was a little jumping frog which soon leapt off the table and disappeared.
I got one of those too when we were out at a restaurant for a meal this year.
He landed in the cauliflower cheese hmm

LadyGracie Tue 01-Jan-19 17:58:25

I had 2 crackers whilst having Christmas dinner, there were ‘nowt’ in either of them!

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Jan-19 17:56:24

I got a set of tiny screwdrivers this year too, but goodness knows what I did with them.

One year I got a rather nice letter opener which I use quite often and a 'silver' dice.

This year when we went out for a meal I got a plastic 'jewel' on a bit of thread which I assume was supposed to be a bracelet and I couldn't make up my mind which recycling bin it should go in.

The best things found in crackers were Wade Whimsies - I used to buy those crackers when the DC were young.

Love that picture but one thing puzzles me. How did you get the elf with the golf club, to stand? He doesn't appear to be leaning on anything and has no feet. confused

Janal1 Tue 01-Jan-19 16:41:36

I've had those little screwdrivers for years too.
This year a little coin purse and a set of measuring spoons.

Chewbacca Tue 01-Jan-19 16:24:40

Best was the double ended screwdriver on a key ring. Worst was the whistle. It was the loudest, shrillest whistle I've ever heard. Sadly, it "got lost" whilst the GC were here. Shame! grin

Beau Tue 01-Jan-19 16:00:12

I got a teeny tiny water pistol this year, which I haven't seen before - have yet to test it!
Also got one of those giant paper clips which others have found so useful here....

lizzypopbottle Tue 01-Jan-19 15:53:07

jenni123 Look out! There's a dalek in your house! I can see it in your photo. It must be after your little comb....although I didn't think daleks had any hair!

moobox Tue 01-Jan-19 15:03:51

well, the golf set came in useful for the naughty elves scenario when we visited the grandkids

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Jan-19 14:49:26

Oh no Cathy21! How awful.

gillyknits Tue 01-Jan-19 14:06:57

Thanks Camelot club. I used to use post it notes on real patterns in books only to find that the glue comes off and sticks the pages together! Learnt that lesson.
Might give the magnet thingy a go though!

allsortsofbags Tue 01-Jan-19 13:28:06

Over the years I have kept the small grater, good for all the afore mentioned and for grating chocolate onto cup cakes etc. A big paper clip, the small shoe horn, the screw drivers and the most luxurious a small silver - yes 925 - photo frame.

The photo frame was from a works Christmas do and all the ladies got them, can't remember what the men got.

Worst, the golf tees, the metal puzzle things and too many other bits of tat to remember.

However, this year DGD got a little plastic jumping frog that worked really well and she played with for hours.

We also have to get out the racing santas, sprouts and reindeer from previous years crackers.

GabriellaG54 Tue 01-Jan-19 13:15:18

The first year that my youngest set up home, she invited me for Christmas and I still have the gold paper crown which was in my cracker. I just can't throw it out. I also have a fridge magnet from another year which says ' You can fool some of the people all of the time but you can't fool Mum'.

GabriellaG54 Tue 01-Jan-19 13:08:50

Jenni123

Haha...good for combing your OH's 'tache (if he has one) or er...? any other short hair ????

Cathy21 Tue 01-Jan-19 13:05:17

Years ago I made a cracker with a lovely brooch in for Mum in law, her best present. She gave Cracker to a visiting child!!!!!!!!!
