You have to remember that men ARE different to women and there's no right or wrong way of doing things. Our way may not be right either but we have to accept it.
He never gives up being stupid.
Mr P always leaves his present wrapping to the last minute, so I was not surprised when he declared the kitchen a " no go zone" after supper this evening.
I had provided a roll of wrapping paper, and left the sticky tape (with the end easily accessible) along with the scissors to try to make things easy for him.
I asked him if he wanted any gift tags, as I had some left over from doing his. He seemed pleased at the offer, so I handed them over.
Now, it may just be me, but I write a little message on the tags, with a sort of obscure hint as to the contents!
For example, a pack of eye wateringly bright socks, has a tag saying "sunglasses may be required".
So, the presents are under the tree, and I looked at the label on the top one to see what it said.
It was blank.
I risked a look at the second one. That too was blank.
Not wishing to upset him, as he's quite a sensitive chap, I asked him, in the gentlest possible way, why the tags were blank.
His response? "Well, you know they are for you, and that they are from me, so I didn't see the point".
Which begs the question, Why put the gift tags on them at all!??????

PHOENIX ....Mr P is from Mars and you are from Venus!
Many moons ago when it was Christmas and the children were still small, we spent all we had on them and ignored buying for ourselves when one day H came home with a large square parcel.
My first thoughts were the biggest box of chocolates I'd ever seen and excitedly waited until Christmas morning.
Imagine my disappointment on opening this parcel to find a brand new-------wooden drainboard to replace the old splintery worn one. Truthfully I could have cried but later consoled myself with a bar of choc from one of the children's selection boxes.
After that little episode the presents did gradually get better and latterly gave me both his mum's and his grannie's jewellery which more than made up for the draining board-----which we laughed about but he honestly thought he was doing me a favour at the time.
grannysue I sometimes think that he was beamed down from the mother ship!
Ha ha...DH all are funny ....i got thrown a birthday party for which i had to do the catering and decorating and what have you....he just called everybody over....i did enjoy having friends over but i was tired on my birthday....
Mr ichtb always makes us giggle with his gifts. For years after being diagnosed with diabetes he would buy me loads of boxes of chocolates for Xmas or Birthday. In the end, I had to put my foot down and insist he didn't buy me anything other than a small box of Toffeefee. This year, he has outclassed himself. He has bought me 10 bottles of beer...I am usually teetotal! My big present is to be bought after Xmas in the Sales when I am there...thank goodness for that.
We don't have children (by choice) so still make a big deal of Christmas - a big sackful of presents each every year! Mostly small stuff - clothes we need, books, CDs, DVDs, as well as alcohol and chocolate. We still get excited getting up on Christmas morning to open our presents - we love our Christmases home alone (family all live in other parts of the country, mutual agreement to stay put for Christmas instead of stressful travelling). Had a lovely Christmas dinner and we are now watching Die Hard and muching on fudge (me) and crystalised fruit (the other half) whilst steadily working our way through the large quantity of alcohol we bought in for Christmas.
Wishing all gransnetters a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
An hour ago - as he was on his way to bed - The Wonderful Man asked me if we had given his parents anything for Christmas!
Sodapop, Do you think Mr Sodapop gets the assistant in the shop to wrap your pressies, maybe that's why they are so beautifully , neatly wrapped, ??
I enjoyed reading these. I loved the husband using black marker! What we ladies have to put up with ?. This morning my husband got halfway through wishing me happy birthday and realised he meant Christmas!
Some of these posts do make me laugh!! In our family now we agree to recycle gift bags, especially bottle bags and some of them have been on the go now for years. Our newest addition to the family, DS's partner, was not aware of this last year and actually wrote on the bags .... shock horror....
This year a sticky label was put on over the writing and the bag returned. She is a true family member now as she found it very funny!!! I look forward to next year!
Hope you all had a great Christmas despite all these trials.
Mr P is a one-off and so are you dear Phoenix. Happy Christmas! (Grey-green greasy Limpopo?)
Thank you for this thread, I feel much better about OH's present to me now. Back in November, he asked me want I wanted for Xmas. I thought hard and said "I want a break". I was just post op hip replacement and getting bored with being in the house. I thought it was something he could easily do online, I said I didn't care if it was 2 nights or 2 weeks, Scunthorpe or Sardinia, just something for both of us to look forward in 2019. Sunday he suddenly announced he was waiting for the January sales to book something. He must have worked out from my expression I was not pleased, cue a last minute dash to buy perfume. All this was compounded by leaving the till receipt in the kitchen showing a Boots purchase on Dec 24th and then him asking me for wrapping paper Christmas morning.
He managed to make me feel that buying my Xmas present was a last minute chore like preparing the sprouts or cleaning the bathroom before the family arrives.
Ha ha men are such funny creatures!
