I remember that really tough period you went through and I'm really glad you got some help from Gransnetters, but, as others have said, it was your own good humour and doggedness that got you through it. Merry Christmas, old friend. tchsmile

Don't know about your problems but glad you are in a much better place now and that you received help and support when you needed it the most.

Phoenix I remember that time in your life and how we grans tried to support you. So glad you weathered the storm and that life does seem much better for you.

You have made me chuckle so often and I look forward to more of your poems when you feel the urge to put pen to paper again. You have a gift for sure.

Wishing you the Happiest of Christmas and a great New Year.

Phoenix, you've had many a 'hard row to hoe' and it's cheering to know that things have improved so much over the past two years. Your brilliant, humorous contributions have raised my spirits all these years on Gransnet, and it would be easy to assume that these were an outward reflection of a light-hearted attitude to life when, of course, like the swan you have been 'paddling like hell' underneath. You have embodied what Gn is all about and we love you for it. Happy Christmas to you and Mr P ?

Talking is always the best therapy in any situation whatever it might be. People need to unburden and to release their worries and problems to those who are interested and will listen to help with a solution.

My step-daughter rang me last night and she was in pieces because she'd just lost her life-long friend from schooldays and into an hour of the call her spirit lifted slightly, then when the call finished at 1.30am this morning she felt much better and was able to settle for the rest of the night.
I've always been here for her----more like a big sister relationship as there's only 9 years between us.

What a lovely post to start the day. As a newbie I don’t know anyone’s back story and it’s wonderful to hear how helpful and supportive Gnetters were to Phoenix and to know that two years later, life is much better for her and Mr P. I’ve loved her recent amusing posts.

Gransnet seems such a warm and friendly site, has a few not so nice folk as any group does and they make more noise than their numbers merit. Thank goodness for those who take the time to be helpful, kind, welcoming and supportive.

Don't know what it was Phoenix and Mr Phoenix but thankfully things are better.
Gladdened to hear that gn was supportive
The power of a friendly voice and some sound opinions does a great deal of good.
Aren't we all lucky to be on gn.

Thank you all for your responses!

Lovely post, phoenix!

And I'd like to thank you for the wonderful curse - it still makes me smile although it didn't work!!

eilyann Wed 19-Dec-18 08:16:44

All the above. As a newbie I am learning how lovely people are on here. Have a happy Christmas.

I remember well phoenix but it was primarily your own strength (and that of *mr p*) that got you through and as a couple you provided an excellent
example of integrity and determination.
You've earned all you've achieved and deserve a successful and happy 2019.

Brunette10 Wed 19-Dec-18 07:36:35

Phoenix - I also don't know your story but whatever it is it obviously had an effect on you and your DH. Nice to know that your appreciation for support was welcomed at the time and still is. Lovely way to start the day! thanks

I don't know about your problems Pheonix, but your post has given me hope. I'm just trying to support my grandaughter through a difficult break up and convincing her that 'this too, shall pass'. Very best wishes to you - a lovely post.

ninathenana Wed 19-Dec-18 06:46:26

Lovely post Phoenix, I wasn't here then, but it is wonderful to know that people on here made a difference and helped you in difficult times.

What a lovely story Phoenix. I am quite new to GN and didn't know about that.

Chewbacca Tue 18-Dec-18 22:45:25

What a lovely post Phoenix, I hope you have a lovely Christmas this year.

phoenix Tue 18-Dec-18 22:35:45

Evening all, and sending even more good wishes!

As Mr P and I approached Christmas 2016, things were looking very bleak, but the generosity of some members on here made a difference that cannot be overstated.

We are now in a much better position, but still will always remember the kindness and generosity of those that helped at that time, the difference it made was incredible.

Last year and this, we have remembered and been so very thankful for what we received, and have done what we can to "pass it on".

You know who you are, and you are very special people!

With love and thanks,

Phoenix.
