The best gadgets you have bought this year

No gadgets this year but would really like to hear about the soup makers GNs have bought. Only last weekend I was reading about them and with the cold weather now here and soup on the menu thought about buying one..

I’m thinking of getting one of those “stick” type vacuum cleaners as I find my Henry far too heavy and overkill on my little house. I’m a bit overwhelmed by the choice and the very large price range. Please could anyone give me a few pointers, please.
I’m happt to pay whatever it takes but don’t want to make an expensive mistake.

Not sure if you'd call it a gadget and may sound sad but I just love my cordless vax Hoover....

It ‘s totally changed my life.
When I put it on I can type in anywhere I want to go in the
world , and I’m there. It uses Google Street View , and
you look around it’s 360 ,you look around
and you feel you are there.
Wonderful for rainy days, or people not mobile enough
to travel.
Last week I went to see the Taj Mahal, The view from the top of the Eiffel, Tower, and on a boat on the Venice canals.

I've mentioned this before - my sellotape dispenser. It's very solid and cost very little. Indispensable.

Have ousted many gadgets this year, have kept potato ricer, thermomix and Mr GG!

What are the advantages of a soup maker please?, I make a lot of soup but old style in a pan

You just add the ingredients to the soup maker - if you can browning onions etc first in it and then turn it on. It cooks and blends all in one. Then just pour it out from the jug.

I got a slow cooker , and made soup in it , it was great , turned it on , went out for the day and lovely soup when I came home !

not sure if you call it a gadget but as a serious tinnitus sufferer I got fed up of finding myself tangled in my headphones when turning over in my sleep as I listen to audio-books as a distraction. I bought myself bluetooth headphones that look like a wide elasticated hairband and I LOVE them.
I am with busyb as these headphones are used in conjunction with my kindle. Set a times for an hour and reset it when I wake up

I had a new cooker this year, a Neff. It’s amazing. Cakes cook evenly and don’t randomly burn or have soggy middles

a soup maker, its used at least 4 times a week and a air fryer, i' would never do chips in the house before. bothe have made life a lot easier

An electric vegetable masher. Cannot sing its praises enough. Never have lumpy potatoes again and the carrot and turnip mash is to due for.

We love our Amazon Echo too. It isn't just the smart lights/plugs it is useful for, it is also great for playing songs for my Autistic Grandson. At over 3, he is still non-verbal but I think his first sentence might be "Alexa play..."!
I'm impressed with our free Hive Water Sensor which will detect any water leaks. I am more than happy to help the planet by early leak detection to save water.
Our Actifry gets used for doing small portions of healthier chips, chicken nuggets, etc for my grandson.

My soup maker is a Morphy Richards one. Under £50 in Sainsburys. It is brillian. In the winter use it about 3 times a week.

Definitely my Alexa-I can no longer see my kitchen timers so Alexa will help me with multiple timers. She plays any music for free. I have an Echo dot in my bedroom and I use that as an alarm clock and it gives me the news or flash briefing it prefers to call it.

Charleygirl5, I suffer with absent mindedness and can't hear the timer if I wander away from the kitchen. I get distracted by Gransnet and cooking becomes a cremation! Alexa has been fantastic for avoiding that...as long as I remember to ask her to set the timer.

A waterpick flosser looks a bit like an electric toothbrush that you put water in and it shoots pressurised water round the gums and in the gaps of your teeth.

When I flossed with string or the other things my gums would bleed but with the waterpick I get the cleaning between teeth, gums get a good blast and no bleeding.

My dentist says I'm taking better care of things so I'm happy, I need to take care of what teeth I have left.
