Mens Frangrances

If you are looking for a reasonably pried by nice smelling and lasting try M & S aftershaves- DH loves them.

I like a few of the men's fragrances because of their spicy undertones. ( I don't mean the Old Spice ) Pooh.

Women's perfumes are much of a muchness now since the " older " ones have fizzled out. I'm a Chypre type.

Another fan of M&S aftershave, DH likes Woodspice which is cheap as chips but doesn't have that hit in you in the nostrils chemical smell. Aramis is another favourite and if I am buying, as a gift, any Sisley fragrance.

My H used to use Kouros.

Terre by Hermes if you’re pushing the boat out. Makes me go weak at the knees! Best price in John Lewis. Scent is such a personal thing though.

Hugo Boss not too expensive, and Paul Smith - the one with the stripes. Lovely and not dear. Good luck

Personally I think that Eau Savage (Dior) is gorgeous and nice enough for you to wear as perfume if he doesn't care for it!

Just don't buy him whatever your father used!

Eau Savage and Issey Miyake are lovely, they are on the citrus “ spectrum “ .

We would occasionally fly to the CI's for the weekend where I was able to buy my favourite fragrance which was Patou's 'Joy'. It was there we were introduced to Patou
Poure Homme Cologne. Tonka bean and vanilla ,also lemon and orange. Pricy, but well worth it and can be purchased on line.

My Old Spice and my Brut of long ago!

Lidl XBolt (£3.99) is very similar to Hugo Boss, and they have a range of men's fragrance in for Christmas at £4.99.

I bought 2 different ones for him last year. They have testers avaiable, so pop in for a squirt and a sniff, at that price it's not huge waste of money if he doesn't like them.

I have also in the past bought one of those fragrance selection boxes, available in Boots, Lloyds and Superdrug, good way of finding a new fragrance that you like without spending too much.

Not sure if anyone else has said it but do remember it will smell different on him than in the bottle! Your own skin chemistry makes a difference - I used to love Madame Rochas (DH daringly bought it for me our first Christmas as a couple!) but it changed over the years

WOW! What a fabulous response, thank you all so much! I have realised that perhaps the best way to go at this stage is to try and get a selection of small ones for him to try, my main problem is that being disabled I find it very difficult to spend time going around the shops, and more especially queuing up to pay, so I'll have a look at some of those that have been recommended, and see if I can order a selection online. For anyone still wanting to know, he's 57, and yes, I still remember Old Spice, although it is one that my Dad used to wear, so maybe that's a no, even if it is still available.

My son has asked for Pack Rabbane Million edt, which he has had before and obviously likes. I'm looking forward to smelling it - he usually has the faint aroma of diesel and greasy overalls!

I love Davidoff's Cool Water (on me as well as OH, too although I agree with the poster above who said the female version is horrid).
