When a day goes wrong ?

I think we've all had those days, and at the time it's really upsetting/annoying.

The other week, I took my sister-in-law out in my car. Firstly, she lost her keys - we re-traced our steps, and she'd left them in a shop (they were handed in, so that was good), then another driver collided with me - it was at a junction, we exchanged details, she admitted it was her fault. Nobody was injured, all ok.

After that, we went for a pub lunch. They got our order wrong, so we had a LONG wait until we got our food. We went back to my house, put the kettle on, which leaked all over the place and wouldn't work. Never mind, I boiled water in the pan.

My husband came home from work, said the factory is talking about redundancies. We'll wait and see, no point in worrying until we know more.

My brother came round, to take his wife home. He was very late - he'd had a puncture on his car.

Later that night, my friend rang, cancelled our lunch out the following day.

The nearest I had to that was years ago when the DC were small. We went to my DF for Xmas with 3 yr old and baby. My DB, SIL and toddler also went. Xmas at Dad's meant taking all the baby stuff, cloth nappies, bottles, milk, clothes etc., all the presents and all the food.
Late evening we relaxed after all the work of getting everything there. My DH and I were up last as feeding baby. When we went to bed we found 3 year old had wet the bed, which we were sharing. DF had moved into single room so we knocked to ask for bedding. Bedding was in the room where DB and DSIL were so they were woken up to get linen.
End result was 3 screaming small DC who had been woken up and not much sleep for anyone.

It's a shame that your birthday plans were ruined by a catalogue of unfortunate events! I've had many such days, it's annoying.
There's two things I say to myself when everything goes awry:
It's Sod's Law and We'll look back and laugh at this one day.
Looking on the bright side, your Dd2 went to Ikea and got the Sofa bed you intended getting for Christmas, saving you the job.
Every Cloud, as they say!
Here's to a fabulous Christmas for you.??

With my birthday falling on a Saturday this year the whole family was able to come to celebrate for the weekend.

On Friday night everyone arrived and as it was my SiL’s birthday we were in control of the teething baby while he and DD1 went out for a lovely meal. All was good!

At 4 in the morning on my birthday I was woken by DD1 to tell me that the baby’s temperature was nearly 40 and they were off to A&E. I sat in the kitchen drinking coffee and avoiding Dr Google! The news came fairly quickly that it was a virus, responding to calpol and they they could home.

I was about to stagger to my bed with relief when DD2 entered the kitchen asking me whether I’d noticed the completely deflated air bed in the sitting room...I hadn’t. They most certainly had! But they had slept through getting the baby off to hospital!

They decided to go to IKEA to buy the sofa bed I was planning to get for Christmas and set off on the 45 mile drive to Croydon where the website said the desired bed was in stock.....

Which it was...but not the cover. They bought it....and then couldn’t fit it in the car. IKEA said they could only hold the left over box for a couple of hours so they brought 2 boxes home and turned round to return to Croydon for the last piece.

And then I started sneezing....and sneezing....

I’d ordered a Chinese feast and we were going to set up the family casino....but we all went to bed at 9 ?

Has anyone else ever had a completely wonky family celebration?
