Minor Frustration!

With dh, that is. He was going to the post office and asked if there was anything I wanted.
Yes, please - plenty of 2nd class Christmas stamps - for all the UK cards I've already written and will be posting by 1st December.
He's come back with a load of 1st class stamps!

'Why didn't you get 2nd class, as I said ?'
'I thought 1st class would be quicker.'
'Er, I've been writing them early, to post nice and early, so I don't need 1st class stamps! That's why I asked you to get 2nd class!!!!'

I suspect it was the usual thing - just not #*#*ing well listening...

Witzend Tue 27-Nov-18 14:56:37

No, Lanclass, , I didn't mind what the illustration was, and he certainly wouldn't - he just asked for 1st instead of 2nd.

Granddad another forum I visit now and then is largely male, and it can be incredibly misogynistic - often much nastier than anything on here. We need to get our own back now and then -? - and in any case, my OP was meant to be relatively lighthearted.

I had the same problem as squiffy, constantly told he couldn't find anything and looking in completely the wrong place not where I'd said.

Said it was the way I spoke, turns out his ears needed syringing.
Lot better now and the TV isn't so loud. Still have write to a list/reminder if I ask him to fetch/do anything though. wine

Witzend, two wrongs do not make a right. Respect for gender from one sex towards the other is essential if women are to continue their equality drive of recent years.

In the above, a number of equality groups are lining up to "have a go at Gransnet, and Mumsnet in regards to equality as GHQ have acknowledged

Threads like this one give them ammunition.

I have just read that due to the time and cost of sorting first and second class letteres and cards, the odds are that they will be delivered within the same time frame.
Makes you wonder about paying more for a first class stamp.

GabriellaG Tue 27-Nov-18 15:21:07

Yes...and ahm lovin' it. No-one to ask when you'll be home 10 minutes after you leave the house. No-one to ask what you're doing when you go to another room to get some peace from the tv. No-one to bring you tea and biscuits in bed...(I hate it)
40 years and now I'm lovin' the silence and pleasing myself. grin

GabriellaG Tue 27-Nov-18 15:25:51

Sorry. My post was a response to Rufus2

MiniMoon Tue 27-Nov-18 15:33:36

Don't be silly grandad. We women can be just as daft and forgetful. Yesterday I went for a birthday card and a stamp. Got the card in the post office, went home without stamp and my sister is 60 tomorrow! I doubt if she'll get the card until Friday now.
But going back to the mistakes of husbands, I hope you'll all like this. I may have posted it before.

MiniMoon, nice to see a woman on this forum who is prepared to admit she is silly enough to make a mistake. Many others obviously see themselves as the perfect wife or partner and also carry those attributes in every other aspect of life. Therefore they wish to display that by posting on threads such as these.

They are usually the first to complain on what they view as misogyny.

Sometime ago my husband went out to post a letter, I said while you were out could you get a loaf of bread? His reply was I can post a letter and get a loaf of bread but I cant do both!

Granarchist Tue 27-Nov-18 16:12:49

Lilyflower I think you are married to my husband's twin - dear god - I sent him to buy a bag of watercress and he came back with a little tray of mustard and cress!!!!!!! Another time he only got one pack of butter, despite there were two on the list , because "I didn't think you needed more than one". How he is still alive is a mystery.

rockgran Tue 27-Nov-18 16:22:51

I hate when I tell him exactly where something is but he can't find it until I have extricated myself from whatever complicated chore I was doing, climbed the stairs then arrive just as he says "Found it!". angry

Grandad1943 Tue 27-Nov-18 16:30:47

rockgran, perhaps he thinks that you should get it yourself if you know exactly where it is. Therefore he finds it but then waits for you to climb the stairs and then declares "I have it". grin

Grandad1943 I don' think there's anything to stop men posting about women and silly incidents on this thread. If the majority of posts are from women about men that is probably because more women post anyway.
I don't have an other half, but I have certainly experienced similar things with my DSs. To the extent that I sometimes know where things are in their houses better than they do. They on the other hand could probably tell loads of stories about me complaining something electrical was broken when I'd forgotten to turn on the main switch, and losing things, particularly rolls of black plastic bags, which I swear have lives of their own. In fact you only have to mention them in my house and the whole family has hysterics.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 27-Nov-18 16:56:43

Dear Grandad, I'm sorry you have been feeling so offended or hurt by a thread that I don't believe was intended to be anything but a light-hearted mention of something that all married women have to put up with: the fact that there DHs just don't bother to listen to what we say.

You may be the one man in a hundred who always listens to whoever is speaking to you, but most people don't and for some odd reason boys and men do need to be asked, told or reminded to do things much more often than girls or women. That may be due to the fact that women more automatically understand a woman's way of expressing herself than men do - I don't know the reason for this, but is a fact of life for the female population.

This is true, DBF once went out for Fish and Chips met an old school friend and went home 3 days later.
The marriage did not last.
He will be here this weekend and I will tell him I posted this, he ocasionally pops into GN.

Bluesindy1 Tue 27-Nov-18 17:11:42

Years ago the fridge broke beyond repair so OH said he'd sort it out......... came back with a microwave because they were on offer!!!! Nothing wrong with the one we had! I've never been able to work his logic out!

rockgran Tue 27-Nov-18 17:13:46

Grandad1934 - not sure why I should have to find things HE wants. I'm talking model railway stuff and things HE plays with!

NanaRayna Tue 27-Nov-18 17:22:02

Actually Grandad 1943 you will find that the errands listed are mostly for everyone's benefit, not just to please the wife.
I don't know that it's a sexist thread exactly, we have plenty of Grandads who could cite mistakes and sloppy thinking by the women in their life, but I don't see that any of them have posted a similar anecdote.

MissAdventure Tue 27-Nov-18 17:30:41

Its not sexist at all.
There are plenty of threads by women, about women, and not all are complementary.
There is one with silly things people themselves have said.
I suppose they must hate themselves.

Apologies, should be "started" above not "started"

MissAdventure Tue 27-Nov-18 17:41:22

hmm

Grandad1943 Tue 27-Nov-18 17:44:16

That should be "Stated". Having to type the above posts on a train, did not go well. blush

MissAdventure Tue 27-Nov-18 17:45:54

I bet a woman would have managed it. grin

petra Tue 27-Nov-18 17:49:44
