Good Morning Thursday 13th August 2026
Where Is Greta Thunberg These Days?
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.
Welcome and thank you all for your wonderful company.
Called in to say my best very wishes for tomorrow, Soop.
Thinking of dragonfly, who has posted her news on the Biopsy thread.
Soop packing is easy
3 pearl necklaces and earrings to match.
Ditto diamonds ( but only one necklace)
3-4 pairs of bloomers
2 bras
4 long dresses
Suppose I’d better pack something for the day in case I decide to put more than my nose out of bed.
Oh! And3 bottles of champagne
1bottle of chambord
2 tins of anchovy stuffed olives
1 bottle of gravy.
Galen where are you visiting this time?
The charity shop will take the sheets with open arms- mine would.
Panache I do hope that you and Mr. Panache get help very soon. Re the viewing after Christmas- ask the estate agent to do it- he is paid enough.
soop you could well do without tomorrow's gallivanting to the hospital but it would be good to get all of the medical buggerations sorted. At least the snow and ice are staying away at present.
Tabitha knows she will have a lovely meal waiting in her chalet if for any reason she cannot find a tasty supper in the forest.
Momb so sorry to hear your lovely cat has died - it sounds very like a stroke as the same thing happened to one of mine some years ago - she was 23. It is very hard saying goodbye to them and your dog will be confused wondering where she's gone.
Dragonfly stay safe in the cosy kitchen and don't let those with nasty thoughts get you down!
Why do these things all come at once Galen - I hope your new bed is comfortable when it arrives - would the old sheets not tuck under the mattress? Seems a shame to give them away when they're still in good condition. Hope your back starts to feel better before you go on your hols.
GreyD you are allowed to have down days - we're all here to buoy each other up when that happens. These men do try to be helpful but just on those days it all seems very irritating!
Panache your post seems more encouraging so fingers crossed it comes to fruition. A viewing at the end of the month is hopeful - if they're relocating they won't be timewasters (we hope!).
Soop lots of luck and big hugs for tomorrow's procedure - I hope it all goes well and enjoy the concert afterwards - hope your seat isn't too far from the loos just in case! I've finally managed to frame Daph & Alfie's pictures but am having problems with my e-mail here in the bungalow so can't share them! I need my IT head on. I'm pleased to hear Tabitha has checked in again.
I've not had chance to check to see if Morethan has posted any further updates but I've been thinking of her today and hoping she's ok.
Kitty good news about your husband's eyes - what relief but so sorry to hear about your daughter's hearing - how distressing for her!
GrannyG the Christmas lunch and fayre sounds lovely and a very fitting way to remember your mum's birthday. It's the sort of thing my mum would have loved too.
Daph and I had a very uneventful journey here today despite the horrendous wind and rain. There wasn't a meow from her all the way until we pulled into the road - I'm sure she knew where she was! Currently curled up in her favourite spot on my bed.
Right need to try and sort this mail problem out - IT has to be one of the most frustrating things ever!!
Good news about your husband kitty but what a day for your daughter. Never knew a supermarket could be so dangerous.
Sounds a productive day Galen, when do you leave for your cruise? You on a countdown?
It’s been a difficult day for dragonfly, hope she comes back to the kitchen, a wonderful retreat when we need it.
There seems to be a lot of ill health and worry about at the moment. A hug for anyone who needs it. Take care everyone.
Hi all, I am fine, coping ok.
H is settling but "losing it" by the day,
Today he said he had had new glasses delivered and he was very happy with them, he asked where I lived and said he lives "here now" the first time he has acknowledged that he lives there.
He seems happy enough, but very upsetting to me, a man came and sat with us who told me he was trying to get to Newcastle, I wondered just what his past life had been and if he had a good brain and a successful career as my H had.
It is all very sad.
I have kept the kitten who is an absolute darling, very affectionate, litter trained, and hungry all the time.
We havent sexed it yet so if it is male it is Tiggy, if female, Molly.
We are very good friends already.
All good wishes to people with health issues and other problems with family etc.
Ann pleased you have kept your kitten.
It’s good that your Husband has settled, it is just such an awful decease, but if he is happy in his surroundings hopefully that will be some comfort to you ?
Good news about Mr Kitty's eye and it sounds like the same thing my DH had several years ago.
At his last eye test the optician said he ought to have it checked again as there is still some blood behind the eye so he was referred to the eye clinic. That was some months ago and he is still waiting for an appointment so we reckon it can't be serious!
Glad you kept the kitten Ann and I am sure he/she will be a great little friend for you. We once had a cat called Tiggy. Your DH sounds as if he has settled into his new surroundings and hopefully you are getting some sleep now.
Good luck for tomorrow soop. Lots of us will be thinking of you and hoping the procedure is not too uncomfortable. Tabitha will be wondering where her room service has gone!
My innards have been grumbling a bit today so had to resort to meds to calm them down. I haven't had a flare up since early September so was beginning to think the gastritis had gone but it would seem not. Hey ho.
Wishing a peaceful, restful night for us all.
Good to hear from you ann, if your heart said keep the cat I’m delighted you did.
Wishing you a quiet, trouble free night gaga, hope no internal alarms.
I’m twitchy this evening, no idea why, so popping in and out of GN to keep me occupied.
Off for Xmas to Canary Islands for those who asked.
ann hello, I am new. Pleased to meet you. I popped in to say that when my mum had to go into a home she, like your DH seemed to be ‘losing it’ by the day, but as she settled, she picked up and found a different kind of contentment. She liked having young people in particular, around ie the staff. I hope this is the case for you and your OH. I shall be thinking about you. I hope the home has a ‘cafe’ so that you can have a cup of tea together the way you both like it - if not - suggestion box. Night night.
GrannyG, do go to the service, ours is very heartwarming.
Ann, glad to hear that you`re doing OK, and that your husband is settling in. Also pleased that you kept the kitten. When our first cat had her kittens I had to get a book from the library to find out how to sex them! It involved holding them nearly upside down ands lifting their tails, even so small they objected strongly, lol!
Hope tomorrow goes well Soop. Glad you kept the kitten Ann. It will be good company for you and someone to care for at home. Glad DH is settling.
Ann it's good to hear your husband is settling in. I think the move does seem to progress the disease somewhat - another phase to go through but hopefully he will get into a routine and enjoy having visitors.
I'm also pleased you've kept kitty - he/she will bring you so much pleasure - get a scratching post to save your furniture and carpets! I had a Tigga once - she got out when she was on heat and the result was 3 kittens one of which I delivered and kept - we called her Molly
I'm off to a garden centre with a friend this morning for coffee and cake so back later.
Morning all,
Not staying - Ive got a cracking eye infection in both eyes that is making reading hard - so off to the GP for some magic !!
Hopefully back later- hope all are getting by !
x
Morning everyone. Many thanks for your kind messages on this and the other thread. Feeling pretty shell shocked this morning especially as I appear to have the deadliest form of the disease but hey ho where there is life there is hope.
I intend just to stay in here over the coming months as I cannot face any more aggression. Thank you so much Soop for this kitchen x
Dragonfly I believe it's a 24hr opening in here so day or night whenever you feel like talking the welcome sign is always lit up. x
It certainly helps to open up about these things rather than leaving your worries to fester and the more you can speak about it the better. Everyone's here for you.
Good morning everyone. dragonfly so sorry to hear your bad news. Do accept all the help you are offered - and if you need more, do speak up. It is of course St Andrew’s Days so I am dropping off a tray of shortbread fingers for everyone to enjoy with their tea/coffee. There is loads so do take extra for a friend. Hope those under the weather are on the mend.
Day ugggh autocorrect
I have come into the kitchen for respite from the world, a warm by the aga and cake - if there is any. As a person who usually copes, I am not coping at the moment. 3 funerals , another friend terminally ill and two more with appalling diagnoses - all of which have hit hard. I have sore eyes and a banging head and don't know which way to turn to help at the moment. I am surrounded by so many distressed people.
Apologies for not reading upthread and for my rather selfish post as I know only too well how so many of you struggle personally on a day to day level.
I shall stay and snooze a while ........... Thanks for listening.
Izabella, with all that going on you would be forgiven for coming in and screaming never mind just settling down for a snooze - have
when you wake up.
N&G, hopefully the GP has given you something to help your eye.
We had a Molly cat Ann. She was actually called 'Molly Cat'. We love all our cats, past and present, but Molly Cat was one of the best. Enjoy her company.
Hoping for news of soop and that Panache is getting the assistance she and her DH need.
Corner you made me smile saying you were twitchy and GD said she was cross with her DH. I wonder if it's the moon because I feel so down that I could cry. Totally unlike me and I have nothing to worry about really - baffled. Or maybe it's my looming very large birthday!!
Sending hugs to dragonfly and Isabella ??
My thoughts are with all those who are poorly or struggling for whatever reason.
Puts into perspective my troubles with Mr GG and I trying to get our house straight after 10 weeks of builders/decorators- at one point today I really needed “the frozen leg of lamb” Fortunately for Mr GG we are going for a “curry” tonight - wine will
more than likely be included!!!!
Evening All. It’s been very grumpy in corner land today, think you’re right kitty, the moon or maybe something in the air.
. Worry not about your birthday, I survived mine this year without anything else dropping off, you will be fine and I am sure celebrate royally
.
Good luck with the house sorting grannyg, nearly there now. Love the sound of your curry, we’ve got salmon when grumpy-corner stirs herself to cook it, healthy I suppose but I’d rather be going out for curry. Nothing suiting me today
.
Hope the sit down in the warm has helped izabella. Always someone here to listen.
Of course you’re shell shocked dragonfly, be kind to yourself. Plenty of room on the sofa at any time, we’re all here for you.
Can you see yet n&g? Hope the doctor prescribed something to clear up the infection very soon.
Hope soop had a bearable experience today and will soon be home safely. Wishing you all well. Take care and stay warm and comfortable.
Dearest dragonfly and Isabella My heart goes out to you both. There are no words that adequately convey my sadness that you are facing an almighty struggle. Us lot are here for you. No matter how you feel, come on in and share your thoughts as freely as you care to. Life sucks...but, where there is glimmer hope, we hold fast and soldier on. I wish that I could hug you right this minute. I wish that I could make your fears vanish. We are rooting for you.
ann Thank goodness that Tizzy/Molly came into your life. I'm happy for you.
This is a brief visit. The procedure at Oban hosp had to be carried out minus the ghastly enema. My back end refused to accept it. I elected not to have sedation because I wanted to go home as soon as. Anyway, the surgeon, such a charming man, who first saw me 28 days ago, completed the 'oscopy and then carried on with a second procedure. I have elastic-type bands hitching up the prolapsed bulge. I didn't like the sensation one little bit. I may bleed a little over the next few days. The bulge may decide to attempt to poke it's way out of my bum. In six weeks time, I return to have a similar procedure done by the same charming surgeon.
I feel nauseous and sore. The journey home was long and pot-holed. We have given away our tickets to the Eddi Reader event to a couple who will enjoy the treat on our behalf.
All I want to do right this minute, is put on my baggy pj's and loll. Then, a little later, I shall have a medicinal wee dram.
I apologise for the rant. I just wanted to say, I'm back and I shall be thinking of you all throughout this evening. Tomorrow is another day.
