charleygirl you did the right thing telling panache to contact her GP. Yes they will be informed about her DH but if my old surgery is anything to go by they will be swamped with paperwork and probably not connect the dots that lead to someone realising she needs help. Surgeries these days have so many patients they are unlikely to realise she has no one to turn to or even that she needs help. I do hope someone is able to help her soon I can't imagine what she is going through.

marydoll sorry I didn't realise you hadn't been well. I don't read many other threads apart from the kitchen and Argy (where your problems are more to do with the missing Santa and the imminent arrival or multiple little elves ) Hope you feel better soon.

ann, you have been through the hardest few years, I'm not surprised that you feel out of sorts one way and another. It's a bit like when DH ALWAYS got a cold during the first week of a holiday but much, much worse! Just be kind to yourself.

I think I have mentioned previously that we and a few neighbours keep an informal eye on each other. I noticed that the neighbours opposite were opening their curtains later and not in the normal way. I bumped into another neighbour who told me that they are ok but both are having eye problems and can't drive. The wife went to hospital yesterday - on two buses both ways - for her treatment and didn't ask for a lift. There's being independent and there's being stubborn.

On a lighter note, I've just not recognised DS2's best friend from school when he rang the bell. That's really bad! I need or a lie down now!! Or both - preferably!!

Back later to see how things are. Yet more wrapping!!

Just popped in to kitchen for news on Panache as she has not been on her acronym thread for a couple of days (she usually posts daily).
I am shocked and sad by her news
and feel completely helpless.
I hope that her GP services are indeed on the ball.

I must be mad. Why? I have an uncontrolable urge to vac all the cushions, poke in all the hidden corners, tidy the shoe rack in the entrance hall...blah blah.

ann If there is anything better than having your granchildren helping you to dress the tree...I would like to know about it.

An earlier visit than I normally make. Need to check up with Panache during this latest crisis. If the hospital has contacted the GP then surely a care package will be put into place for * Panache* as she cannot cope alone. So sad that the Golden wedding anniversary will not be spent together.

Any admission to hospital via Casualty triggers a notification to the GP.

I sent Panache an email last night telling her to get in touch with the GP surgery today to inform them that Mr. P has had a stroke because if she dialled 999 they would be unaware of his admission. It sounds to me as though she needs temporary admission herself if she cannot cope.

Synonymous- he is being awfully brave cracking his awful jokes. I hope the family look after the pair of you.

callgirl it sounds to me as though you need to crawl into bed for a few hours. I have just crawled out of bed myself having had more than 9 hours sleep- even Tara gave up and joined me.

It is so frustrating when we cannot give practical help, even making a cup of tea or changing bedding.

Still worrying about Panache being on her own as well as Mr P's health. It's particularly poignant with their Golden Wedding tomorrow.

Totally unimportant in the scheme of things but I need to go and find some unperformed hairspray today to spray over a jumpsuit which is shedding glitter - we went to the works dinner on Sat and I left a trail of the stuff all over Mr W's car seat, the sofas and chairs in the hotel and the toilet floors as well as my own bathroom and bedroom. I've been told Tesco's have it so I will brave the crowds and go over there.

That is so true Marydoll , when our youngest daughter had to have her gall bladder removed days after giving birth we had to step up as she was in a medical ward and couldn't have the newborn with her without someone present to lift and carry etc. So we spent our days at the ward letting her enjoy her son and then he came home with us every night for 3 weeks or so .

I cannot lie and say I loved those late night feeds when it was just the little chap and myself chatting ( well I was :-) ) , I think it gave us an exceptionally strong bond , and of course helped my daughter to recover as quickly as possible.

Its a bitsa day here - bits of this and bits of that !! So Ill pop back in later to keep up :-)

Thank you Corner, a bit better today, thank goodness. Steroids have dreadful side effects for me, but they are a necessary evil.
I got some sleep last night, first time for ages, but you will see from the *Good morning thread", that I was cleaning the freezer out at 6.30am. .
That's another side effect, they make me hyper!!

Just had a panic call from DS1, can we take our granddaughter overnight tomorrow night, as they are getting no sleep, due her asthmatic cough keeping her awake most of the night. They are on their knees.

Manic day ahead here, just had a panic message from a granddaughter asking us to look for something obscure for her that is apparently ‘vital for my sisters present’. Apparently no one else has time . Already had a long, long list of shopping and tasks before Granny duties late afternoon and evening. so may not get back today. Hey ho, off to work we go .

What devastating news from the Panache household, I cannot believe that no help is forthcoming. Please send Panache my sympathy and very best wishes that help will arrive very soon.
Synonymous, your husband is being very brave, telling all those awful jokes must be what is keeping him going.
We had a drama of our own (albeit a small one) last night/morning . At 1 am Lynne went to bed. I always wait until she`s in bed before I go upstairs, but shortly after she went through I heard a scream, then a loud thud, went through and she was lying on the floor. She has the same problem I do, once down, can`t get up. I pressed the Lifeline button, he couldn`t get hold of either Rena or Dawn, the 2 names listed, so contacted the ambulance service. Anyway, at 1.40 am Rena rang, said cancel ambulance, she was coming. She got Lynne upright and left at 2.25 am, I got to bed at 2.45 am, but couldn`t sleep, was still awake at 6.10 am and had to be up at 8 am, so it`s been a very tiring day. Luckily Lynne is OK, apart from feeling sore after being on the floor for an hour.
Soop, if that finger is feeling better, I dread to think of what it was like before! You could very well get the crown as the Queen of spectacular looking injuries, starting with your poor face after your fall on the beach.

Ive been thinking about maw’s comment, it’s very hard indeed when there is no family or close friend near to hand and serious illness strikes, It’s encouring me to think about a safety net for myself and Mr C.

My initial response to panache included a thought that much love would be sent from the kitchen, I’m sure she will know we are all with her in spirit and wish we could be of practical help.

So very sorry to hear about MrPanache and I also wish I could help in some way. Heart breaking in every way and not least with it being their Golden Wedding Day on Friday.

We went to the hospital today and it is definitely going to be amputation, letter has gone to the Vascular Surgeon so expect it will not be too long to wait. Fortunately DH is reacting very well except that he is telling people the most appalling jokes - clearly we are going to manage this too if his determination is anything to go by!
We are just about ready to go to DD's for Christmas, bar the last minute packing, and will leave in the morning. Staying in a hotel halfway so will arrive on Friday all being well.
