Dear Kitcheners I have not been ignoring you of late and have been very sorry to read of all the mountains you are having to face - but one thing I am confident of, is that you will climb them and Sherpa Broon is at the ready to help wherever she can, except of course for her fear of heights but she’ll be brilliant at Base Camp - just by the Aga.
My reticence re posting is that I have had a warning from HQ about my “tone” ( we'll have to suspend your ability to post if you post again in this tone, which would be a real shame .) so I am choosing my words carefully
However if permitted, my afternoon at the Ballet was if anything even more magical. Having splashed out on a very good seat in the stalls and close to the middle of the row, I could not only see the wonderful set and amazing dancing but also dear little DGD’s face and could appreciate that as well as dancing, he was acting.
He was the youngest person on that stage and my heart burst with joy.
Paw would have loved it too.
So, maybe back under the duvet, discretion being the better part and all that.

Izabella I have looked through all my books on birds, and had a look at t’internet, and can find no reference to discernible differences between male and female herons. Passing strange! As long as they can tell each other apart....

I am amazed Maw that you were given a warning. I have never found you one of the offensive people on here. In fact you are very supportive. There are many more who can be very unpleasant but you are not one of them.

I have now heard it all...........I thought the sheer madness around brexit was the absolute limit now hearing our own Maw Broon has been the reciever of such ridiculous comments..........and from GN`s headquarters........quite frankly, I think that means there is NO HOPE for the rest of us!!!

Surely our Maw is one of the least offensive ,a straight talker yes,one whom takes a good laugh up a few notches but also has a great sensitivity and good heart.

It must be one massive joke!!!!

Am happy to be back in our wee, snug home. It awful dismal out there. Several shades of grey more or less sums up the scene.

Ann My pal visits her husband in the care home three times each week. She barely understands a thing he says. Today she left feeling low and a wee bit tearful. It's perfectly understandable that you feel as you do. I would, if I were in your shoes. I wonder if you have a photo album that you can look through with your husband. I have been showing a lady (with dementia) some of my albums showing watercolour paintings that I've created over the years. She gets engrossed and often gets to the end of the album...and goes back to the beginning. She has next to no power of speech. It's the visual aspect that holds her attention.
You know that us lot truly care for your well being. This episode in your life is so unfair. Never be afraid to put your feelings into words.

Greyduster I read your post and almost spat coffee over the keyboard when I reached the Jaffa-cake conversation. Just a thought...why not compile these wonderful, way-out conversations and get a wee humorous book of quotations printed. I would buy one.

N&G You are brave. Wild horses couldn't drag me close enough to stand upon weighing scales. I know that my waistband is snug. I also know why it is so. I shall welcome the year 2019 in with a promise to myself to cut out something or other. At this point, I cannot say what.

Nannytopsy Oh that poor neglected creature seen lolling in an upmarket bed. Is it any wonder that the resident feline is miffed.

I have been passing a field of mud. No grass. Mud! About a dozen cattle stand woefully in the corner of it. They are caked in mud. The manger "thingy" is empty. It often is. I returned home and contacted the farm animal welfare site. A very nice lady has promised that someone will check up on the cattle. That's all I can ask for. The same thing happens year after year. I get terribly upset. In fact, at times, I close my eyes when we pass the field.

Maw Don't you very dare give up your chair in this kitchen. Understood? Good!

Maw someone else who is amazed at your post. You are one of the nicest people on Gransnet. You always have a kind word to say to anyone who needs it, even though you have had so much sadness in your life this last year.
There are some people far more deserving of a telling off than you.

Maw I did laugh at what you had allegedly been told. I was told recently, but not by the same people, that I am rude, nasty and aggressive- maybe but not all of the time!

Tara came home at 2.30pm very early for her but has retired to bed, probably mine as the duvet cover etc have been changed and she has a lovely clean litter tray. That is definitely the life- would anybody take us in please?

Quick message for you - good quality v-shaped cushio round your back with the ends supporting your elbows when tying might help; possibly two v shaped cushions carefully arranged to support your laptop and elbows also wrists. I am not quite sure, depends on your build, seat and placement. Worth a try maybe.

Well not sure what has been going off Maw. All I can say is that I was confined to quarters for a few days due to the 'diverticulars' so have been reading nearly all the forums, and no, there is nothing you have posted that I would remotely questioned. Tonal or otherwise.

Soop no photograph, sorry. I used to snap avidly but some time ago I realised I so often missed 'the moment.' I am reminded of that wonderful poem by William Davies which I am sure all kitcheners know.

Greyduster regarding Herons - the male wings are longer according to my research - but not much use when they are standing hunched.

So exciting news at Maison Izabella - serious training must soon begin as I have a chance to cycle the Italian coastline next year with a group of crazy friends. So excited ????. Lots of hard work to bring myself up to scratch.

Anyway pleasant dreams everyone. Hopefully the kitchen will be nice and warm early tomorrow as I have an early start.

Good God Izabella. I am exhausted just reading that! I’m sure you’ll be ready for it when it comes. A few years ago an intrepid friend of mine asked if I fancied coming along on her trip to walk the Inca Trail. Leaving aside the fact that DH might have take a dim view of me disappearing for weeks (she had no ties) leaving him to live on pizza and baked beans, I told her I would have problems walking the Pennine Trail, let alone the Inca Trail. More power to your elbow and good luck with the training!

Izabella I had to sit in a darkened room after reading the exploits you are organising for next year. I could possibly manage the 1/2 mile to the local shops, avoiding the potholes.

Seriously and being practical, how easy would it be to get insurance? I cannot say the hot weather has gone to your head because it was 0C here in London today. Good luck with the training if that is what you want to do.

Goodness izabella, not sure if I’m envious or exhausted considering your planned cycling. Last time I was on a cycle I fell off in a patch of stinging nettles, never again was the politest thing uttered. . Hope the training goes well anyway, keep us posted. Exciting for you.
