Ah! ...but do you buy the Woman's Weekly?

My youngest son bought a teasmade in a charity shop recently. He proudly showed it off to me as if it were a new invention. When I asked if he had tried it out, he said once. The alarm on it was so earsplitting he couldn't bear it - no way to wake up in the mornings, even for a cup of tea!

DoraMarr, was it a Goblin Teasmade by any chance?

We had a Sparklets soda syphon, then a Sodastream. I think the Sodastream is still around, not sure about the Sparklets.

I had always wanted one, and eventually saved up. What a let down! It was like being next to a steam train, and it took forever to actually make the tea, while making such a lot of noise. I think it must be one of the most disappointing purchases I’ve ever made. Ikm assuming they are better now, but haven’t been tempted again!

My Parents had one years ago. Mum loved it.
I’ve got a tabletop hostess plate and food warmer, with 4 glass dishes for keeping the food hot. Had it years, and use it most days.

I used my parents teamaker (neatly avoiding the made/made debate!) A few times, but the noises started so long before the tea was due to be ready I gave up!!

Two, as my preferred drinks are hot choc and coffee, from eBay.

Too much of a temptation as together with a packet of biscuits and my tv one would never know what time of day would see me emerge from my bedroom. I did once have a small 'mini' fridge in the bedroom which was handy to store bottled water and the odd bottle of wine! and milk if needed but got rid of that as the humming noise when it brought itself to the correct temps would keep me awake.

moggie57. I understand what you meant - milk in the shade etc but i read it as though your mum had a Teasmade and then went out into her garden to get the milk. Made me giggle! I know ... must concentrate more!

never had a teasmaid but yes they do exist. my mum kept her milk cool by putting it in water in the shade in the garden.(bottle of milk)

Cherrytree thanks for the suggestion of the milk pots. At present I do not intend buying one, it's just that I have been rather under the weather for a few days and thought it would be nice to just get out of bed and collect my tea.

My DH comes to bed very late being a nightowl and I am an early bird so I creep downstairs at 6.30 make a tea and put it in a thermal mug to keep it warm, then I creep back to bed with the tea and put an earphone in so that I can listen to the radio and check up on my iPad for emails GN the weather etc. If I am lucky I get about and hour and a half's peace whilst hubby snoozes away.

When he wakes he doesn't mess about and gets up a moves on. He must think me very lazy but he wouldn't dare say so.

My folks had a Teasmade and used it every day. Couldn't be bothered with the faff of doing the tray every night, myself.

Had a Hostess trolley for many years - v useful at Christmas before I had a double oven. Then no longer used it and eventually it had to make way for a piano. Sold on eBay for £80!

Old fashioned Ewbank carpet sweeper - acquired one from a friend who was going to chuck it. I love it - ideal for quickly getting a few bits up without having to get the vacuum cleaner out.

My parents had one. I don't like tea... I would love to have a lovely coffee maker though.

In those days we rarely had very hot days so I think the milk was alway ok overnight at room temperature.

I had a teasmade years ago and it was great except for the remembering to bring down cups and milk jug, wash and dry and take them back at bed time, not to menion remembering to fill the thing. If I was to do anything today it would be what I do on holiday, travel kettle, mug, teabag and milk in jug. Makes tea just as well as any teasmade and you don't have to set the alarm or wake up at a certain time.

My Mum was given a Teasmade as a retirement present. We eventually inherited it. Tried it a few times but found it vey noisy, all that boiling and siphoning of water. I offered it to the school jumble sale where a lady pounced on it saying she had always wanted one, so it found a good home. DH goes down and makes the tea every morning (in a pot) and he's as quiet as a mouse.

For once, I agree with mabon1. i have never been a fan of tea, or breakfast, in bed. I had to grin and bear it when the children used to prepare it on Mothers' Day (even the slightly-boiled eggs)
With a husband who always worked shifts I never really got into an early-morning routine. Now that I'm alone I usually shower and dress before going down for my morning cuppa.

I have one & I love it. I buy like packs of long life milk and they sit on the top of the teas made

I once had a teasmaid but eventually decided I preferred to have tea with my breakfast.

Hate tea in bed

I thought I might treat myself to one until I saw the price of them ???.

A hot drink in bed, and tea generally, both of those would feature in my worse nightmares!
