Feeling exhausted today, when I did finally sit down I began to think back over the last six days and began to realise why. Here goes. Washed, ironed, cleaned , plus extra for Christmas. Cooked all meals, just the two of us, shopped for us, and elderly mum.Visited mum 3 times plus lots of phone calls.Picked DGS up from school trip, very delayed.Had a hair appointment.Hospital appointment.Did some Christmas shopping online.Opened a bank account.Sorted mums bills.Worked 16 hours in my manual job.Had my DGC 24 hours while their mum and dad had a break smile .looked after other two DGC half a day.Took DGS to nursery twice.Had friends round one afternoon.Went out for tea one day.Sorry if your bored by now, but it's been a revelation for me.I'm 61 not complaining, I've enjoyed most of it.Think I need to show my husband this, he's retired. Going to put my feet up tomorrow.

Does your husband help out now that he is retired? If not, perhaps things need re-thinking.

When a husband retires, it's time to look review the allocation of chores. It shouldn't be all down to you. Tip from my mother when I married my husband : don't be too capable. It was good advice.

Sorry, strike out the 'look'.

Yes your right I need to have a rethink, it's early days he's only been retired a few months. I'm so independent, he's worked very hard and long hours all his life so I suppose I've just got used to doing it all, because I've only ever worked part time..He's very willing to help and does a lot with the Grandchildren.I'll have to learn to delegate grin.

You certainly will! grin
Otherwise he will get bored, haha.
Wonen are pretty good at multi tasking, but your DH should now be helping out.Award yourself a large gin and tonic.?

My next door neighbour confided in me that his wife doesn't let him help. He feels like he has no role in the home. She repeatedly says they are her jobs, leave them to her, you won't do it the way I like. Or she will redo something he has done. She revels in keeping busy but there's only so much golf he wants to play.

That is retirement for you.
