Good morning all from a dark and damp North Yorkshire.
Builder coming today to finish off the woodwork around the front door after putting in a new step. Out tonight to WI for a make up demonstration.

Good morning from N Bucks where yet again it is bright and crisp!
I am taking a huge car load of clothes to our nearest Emmaus. A radical wardrobe clearout has left me thoroughly ashamed of keeping good quality jumpers (in particular ) and coats “just in case” when I am clearly not wearing them. Plus I have sorted out a lot of Paws shirts, jumpers and trousers, again all in excellent condition. If anybody has any other suggestions for homeless or refugee charities too I would welcome them.
A cautionary tale from yesterday- went into a local deli/coffee shop at about quarter to three for a cuppa and hopefully a cake (the Wild Leaf cafe, Ginny -be warned) . There was one person serving at the deli counter so when he had finished with the customer I asked if he was on his own or could he serve me in the cafe. Someone came out of the kitchen and said they shut at 3, so I pointed out it was still only 5 to 3 and I had been waiting for ten minutes for anybody to notice me.
Tough, apparently
Silly me for thinking I could get a and a at 3 in the afternoon.

It looks as if there's been a lot of rain through the night. The sun is making a brave attempt to show now, but I suspect it will be short lived.
Going bird watching later, if it stays dry enough - they tend to hide when it rains! ?
Shame about the coffee, Maw - will you be using that cafe again or trying another one next time? Odd that they wouldn't serve you when it was still officially opening time. ? I remember once being in a pub that served meals until 9pm and they turned people away at 8.30pm. They lost quite a lot of trade as there were about 4 people.

No way Mapleleaf the deli section has lost a customer now too. There are so many coffee shops these days in Olney where I was, even discounting the ubiquitous Costa/ Starbucks/Caffe Nero chains, and competition is keen!

Good morning all , miserable drizzly day out there .
I am wondering what to do later , an old neighbour has died and her funeral is in our local church at 11 , however there was no notice in the papers or on line and she had left the village years ago , so I don't know whether to attend or not . I feel I should , out of respect , but wonder if the family wants it all private . Jim used to attend all funerals so that is another duty I feel I should take on

The monsoon is upon Aberdeenshire this morning so garden tidy has been cancelled. Like millymouge, I shall sort out some quilting, maybe attack some unfinished projects. Ceramics class tonight.

He is pretty prompt at 6.30 but if he is late we know that he has been on the razzle !

Fairly bright and a little breezy here in Devon. Trying to get DH to chop some wood, says yes but doesn't actually do it. Changing sheets and dusting bedroom for me. Going to see a band this evening with friends.

So, just found this thread and thought I would jump in. I am such a lazy so and so compared to folks here as I am still in bed! I am a night owl so was still reading at 2am and set my alarm for 9am but then snoozed for a while. I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee ( only have one cup a day) in bed with my iPad for company when I heard my lawn mowing man revving up outside. I shot out of bed, grabbed some money and ran to the patio door to pop it in the money pot outside before he reached the back lawn - still in my nightie! I really must phone him and say that the lawn does not need cutting again this year.

In a while I will take my painkillers and get dressed! I need to clean my bedroom ready for my new bed to arrive tomorrow ( any time after 7am so will be up early!) then off to take Mum ( 86 yrs old with Alzeimers ) for lunch which will be interesting as I try not to laugh at some of her tales, then straight to my sisters house to give my nephew his tea and take him swimming while she works a late shift. Finally I have my only evening at home this week so I will catch up on some TV programmes.

Good Morning from Jesmond (Newcastle North). Dull but calm and mild here. Nice to know what other GNetters are doing. Going to pick up grandson (3) from Nursery later. I usually bake with him, but have to keep it fairly simple and healthy. Have hit upon the idea of slicing a pineapple (me) and letting him stamp shapes out with dinosaur biscuit cutters. We will grill them for dessert I think.

Good morning from Conwy. The dog and I had a lovely walk on the beach this morning. It is extremely windy, but very mild. I have noticed on my walks by the beach that a number of flowers are having a second blooming, particularly Valerian and large Daisies.

Good morning. I think I am always late to this. Depends on when I have my coffee. Another quilter here, in fits and starts. I am nudged to get on and finish the current project. I tend to run away on the quilt top and then slow down on putting it together. The border takes forever doesn’t? After this coffee I am off to put some soup on, the winter menu. I am loving this thread and the reports from all over the country.

We, too, had the glorious red sunrise in South Bucks and it has continued sunny. In fact the low, bright sun is like a Hollywood spotlight on the goldem, red, orange and yellow trees. Leafy Bucks is alight!

Yes beautiful sunrise here this am. Have painted the timber to repair the shed, and it's drying in the kitchen . Waiting for a gas engineer to fix my daughter's radiators. Then pickup DGD from school and see DD off to work.
If any spare time , fix timber on side of shed and pick up leaves and put them in the Hessian sacks I have bought.
