Cars and pavements

Yes it’s very common - sadly when squeezing by, my bags/walking stick sometimes accidentally scratch the car. Oh dear?

We have the same problem here - at least 3 huge petrol guzzlers partially parked up on the pavement of our tiny street. My friend, who lives up the other end, is visually impaired and uses a white stick, she frequently bumps into the things.

Is it legal to park on pavements? I thought not....

I've been told that it's only illegal to park on the pavement in London. If that's incorrect then the police are doing nothing about it, but then so much is allowed to go on that people would consider minor infractions. I can't help but think that ignoring them causes people to think they can get away with bigger and bigger crimes

It's thoughtless and selfish. I take photos while the drivers are watching. I suspect I'll get thumped soon

We have an area along the road from us where people park on the side with houses. The other side has concrete bollards to stop the pavement parking. People manage to park all four wheels on the pavement between the bollards with some actually parking at right angles across the pavement It's a very wide pavement and it's a bone of contention locally as to why they don't create a layby.
There is no off street parking along this stretch but even so it's wrong

Oh good for you Kitty, I took the number of a car where the man had parked just to use the ginnel opposite as a urinal, and informed the police.

Parking on the pavement on our road never happened until a year is so ago, but now they all do it. It's totally self defeating because the more room that passing motorists think they have, the faster they drive and, instead of only 1 car passing through at a time, traffic now squeezes past both ways and damage being done to parked vehicles has massively increased. Whenever I've struggled to push my GS's buggy past them, I push their wing mirrors in.

As it is "obstruction" to narrow the pavement so prams/ buggies or wheelchairs are forced into the road it would be useful to take photos of offending vehicles and report them to the police. If reporting happens enough then maybe action would be taken?
